I think the main reason for having a white front is because their matte and jet black iPhones were selling like hotcakes whereas the silver variant was not. So they put a red back and boom... That's actually pretty smart use of old stock if you ask me.

Just got two for me and the wife as our 14th anniversary gift : ) both had the iPhone 6 and they started to kinda act up, at least mine did, didn't get the iPhone 7 as it didn't impress me much, wanted to wait for the next iPhone but thought this is a good opportunity to upgrade as the Red is unique plus it goes for a good cause. I fully agree on the front white issue, thought of that as soon as I ordered it, two colours is enough for me 3 is too much ,and I feel more bad now when you pointed out the home button ring hehe anyways I am so happy with it, the wife is happy with the white front and wanted a clear glass protection as I will go for the black screen protection but I am sure it won't cover the edges though, lets see! This IS the official MKBHD edition! Red and White is exactly the same as the profile photo! Btw, red+black = powerful, dynamic & aggresive, think loud explosive speakers, a powerful ferrari (with black tinted windows) or Beats logo etc. red+white = pure, sincere & clean, just as you'd expect when it comes to healthcare as you can see on almost anything related to it like the red crescent logo, hospital symbol or ambulances etc. I think it just suits the purpose of this new phone, which is a Product Red edition, and it feels more like Apple, being clean and calm as you can see they're not as aggressive as other companies when it comes to adopting new technologies. It's all psychology and colors. OnePlus used red and black in order to break into the market and to appear as a bold and powerful brand. Samsung used blue to tell that they're reliable and stable. Apple is all white to show they are clean and simple, straightforward and have products that are very easy to use so as to appeal to the average consumer. But anyway those are just my own thoughts and in my own words, I'm sure there are others who can explain what I mean much better than me as English isn't my first language.

Yup! As others have already said, there's no new technology coming out of Apple so we may as well get excited about something. Tis indeed a shame!
