Where a new Range Rover leads, a new Range Rover Sport will surely follow, and only a matter of weeks after our first five-star verdict on Land Rover’s new range topper, along comes its bigger-selling, slightly smaller brother. It’s on sale soon - set to be in showrooms this September. Like its bigger brother, the Range Rover Sport features familiar family styling cues, but with a new sense of minimalism and modernity - so it’s no surprise that Jaguar Land Rover creative director, Gerry McGovern says it follows his modernist design philosophy. “It blends Range Rover luxury and capability with sporting character,” says McGovern. “It’s a redefinition of sporting luxury.”
At a glance, the new car is clearly still a Range Rover Sport, both in proportion and detail. Put the outgoing car next to it, however, and the differences are far more marked. The new Sport is larger, especially inside, with a 75mm increase in wheelbase, yet it hides its bulk well with a short front overhang and a slightly longer overhang at the back - all supposedly to enhance a sense of movement. That red color pops just insanely well in combination with black surfaces. They should put it into production - it's a no-brainer really .

Yup. Pops in for repair every few days. There are mutterings in the US concerning abortions. Shame it doesn't apply to vehicles.

They've knocked it out of the park again. Makes all other SUV's and luxury cars for that matter look last generation. BMW's design team need to pay attention in particular.

Ironically it's this Tata that literally looks 'last generation'. 99% of people cannot recognise it as different to the last generation.

@@colinhare4722 BMWs are ugly as hell, but Range Rovers are not good looking either. Just soap boxes, and again British designers fail at trying to make up some kind of 'modern' design as they have always throughout history.

finally RR sport catches up with the 2018 velar design theme is here to stay.. not meant in a negative way.. the “Reductive modernist design” is a pleasant departure from the overdone creases and garish big grille madness in other marquees. Good Job LR

I am glad you mentioned coupe like version of this car the vertical style looks decent but me and many like the looks of a wider range rover sport it looks too thin than its necessary
“Reductive modernist design”. I wonder how much the marketing agency was paid to come up with that load of old tosh! Looks a great car though JLR. I hope unlike Range Rover’s of old that you have ironed out all the electrical gremlins from day one and haven’t repeated mistakes of the past. Design fades, solid engineering is permanent. Hope this is as successful as the outgoing model in generating revenue for the company.

It honestly looks like a blown up Evoque. I guess they spend all of their time on the interior of this car. That's the most desirable part of it for me.

@Mr Smith amazing I have had two over last seven years and never had any issues electrical issues in 80.000 miles , my company runs BMW and Jaguar/Land Rover a total of around 68 cars, we had issues with Timing chain issues on a number of BMW 1-3 series the 15 Evogue issues were leaking tailgate on two and two gearbox replacements under warranty, and three navigation faults but new Pivi pro seems fine ...oh and Discovery had leaking front screen..that’s it

The price is going to be ridiculous for this thing! I was going to buy the Range Rover Sport next year but now they changed the look for the new one. Going to be so much more expensive than current models. Sigh…just my luck

Another beautiful looking Range Rover Sport, but I want leather when paying for a car over AU$200,000 and not polyurethane! I hope this time they have improved some very important issues - improvements on navigation, cruise control and battery. I am sure you have sorted out these issues, but will wait for customer reviews before I consider buying.

It should be available. Tastes vary by person. Some people still like fur; some think it's old-luxury and want more high-tech materials. Edit: Just checked their website, animal skin is standard. Modern materials option actually costs more.
The colour is gorgeous and I would buy this exact looking one in a heartbeat.

Soo disapointed with the rear end. I always thought Sport had one of the best looking rear ends, and moving number plate lower made it look ugly. It doesn't look sporty as the front end. Velar remains the best looking Range Rover and rear end actually looks sportier than the one on Sport. I really hope they don't ruin that one as well.

Interior looks great. Front and rear end looks to blunt the minimalist has gone a bit too far. Doesn't have that growly look the old one had especially the rear where I thought it looked just right with its gaping mouth numberplate now it just looks like it has a long rear face and a very bulbous rear end. But the rear taillights looks good.

I do like it and and would have one. My only small gripe is that it looks like they have copied the older Velar rather than design something new for other RR models to copy in years to come. Wish they had gone a bit more adventurous with it personally.

I agree with. I'm a fans of range rover sports but this latest one is good. But at the back it's not that beautiful. They have mixed velar and evogue to the larest range rover sports. When seeing at the back, you will not recognize that it is a sport one.
