    I’m not too upset about. I would have preferred to see it with full stickers, and taken some pictures, but I know they are required to remove all stickers, and I know it’s brand new by the date on the warranty card. Maybe they removed them ahead of time to speed up the transaction.. Maybe they offered it to someone else who declined it, but I highly doubt that.

    Congratulations!!! Your story of your sale transaction and I believe you, sounds so contradictory to what is actually going on with a lot of other ADs selling their Rolex watches to grey market dealers and wannabe dealers. This video also makes me take to heart your advice to me in a later video of you encouraging me to build a buying history with the AD.

    Thank you so much! It's a great watch, and seems to be under-rated. It went down exactly as I said, they agreed to pre-order it for me, maybe to reward me for buying the SD43, two-tone Daytona, Milgauss, DJ36, and EXP2, but also because I always visited them wearing one of these on my wrist, and they believed me when I said I wasn't a flipper. It just came in much sooner than expected. My AD is family-owned, in a smaller market. I can't know for sure if they are doing anything unscrupulous, but I highly doubt it. I think they have just enough customers to move all their pieces without bundling, and they don't want to risk losing the AD license by selling over list price. Much of it is just being lucky to live close to an honest AD. Just to give you an Idea of how much purchase history you need, I'm actually not a true VIP yet. None my of purchases are valued vastly above retail on the grey market. I won't know if I am a VIP until I am offered a steel GMT or steel Daytona...

    I'm glad you caught the video! This will form the Iron Core of my Professional collection (along with SD43 and EXPII). I'm in a good position with the AD, fast approaching the Endgame. They've been very good to me, but they are just very restricted by supply, and my store managers need to follow what the owner says. I don't deal directly with the owner, but I'll definitely wear this one next time I visit them in a couple of months. I always try to wear one of the pieces they gave me. I'm not in the steel Daytona echelon yet, but I'm getting less attached to the idea that I absolutely need one. Might end up ordering a white gold Daytona, or just let go of the whole Daytona fixation. I'm thinking to maybe just cap things off with a 36mm Day-Date in 1-2 years and stop there.

    Congratulations on the watch. I have a 2014 with the black dial. Sent it to the Rolex service center (Lititz) in PA two months ago for servicing and swapping out the black dial for the blue. Got it back last week and wow it’s like a brand new watch. It’s my daily because it’s so under the radar and yes the polished links will scratch, but it’s a watch meant to be worn. Prior to sending it to the Rolex service center I weighed the watch which was 209 grams. I was curious how much white gold the polishing would have taken off. When I got it back I weighed the again on the same scale…it came in at 208 grams. Only 1 gram of difference! All the scratches were gone…looked brand new. Very impressed. The only difference was the dial and all the hands (seconds, minute, hour, & 24 hour) were swapped out not that they needed to be. It was recommended meaning the hands. Regardless you’ll love the watch. Wear it in good health.

  • @sc1

    @sc1

    3 жыл бұрын

    Great to hear your experience. I think I heard about them swapping out dials to the new blue dial, but I didn't know if they still did that. Does your new dial have the crown between "Swiss Made"? Has your bracelet gotten stretched at all? I'm really enjoying the watch, it looks great. It's only about 2x the price of a grey market steel Pepsi, and I was able to get it at the AD! Just got some scratches on the clasp and don't know how that happened. It feels pretty heavy on my wrist. Not sure if I could wear it as an everyday. I like to rotate it with a lighter Rolex. I just sent in my 2006 Oyster Pepsi 16710 to Lititz 3 weeks ago for an overhaul. The winding was getting gritty and bezel was stiff. They recommended replacing the hands and crystal, so I gave approval, and waiting to get it back. (I didn't notice anything wrong with the hands to my eye). I hope the bezel action gets fixed. I asked my AD to purchase an extra jubilee bracelet for it, but they said no. They said they are not allowed to make modifications. Still makes a nice pair with the White Gold GMT.

  • @MC-qf6ms

    @MC-qf6ms

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@sc1 Actually no…the replacement blue dial does not have the crown symbol between “Swiss Made”. The original black dial didn’t either. Interesting. Yes they still offer replacement from black to blue on the white gold models, but with a fee and they keep the original black dial. I asked if I could keep my original black dial and they said no. I asked about the meteorite dial and obviously a no from Rolex. I think the blue dial looks and is more legible than the meteorite, but the meteorite dial so unique. After a week with it I actually prefer the blue dial more because it compliments the bezel better in my opinion and also subtly distinguishes it from the stainless steel oyster version. My bracelet feels just as tight when I bought it. As mentioned before, the bracelet will develop micro scratches which aren’t really noticeable unless under intense/bright lights such as those at the AD. It’s a watch; it’s meant to be worn and not to be a safe queen. Eat dessert first…life is uncertain. Cheers!

    I don't think I will ever look outside of Rolex. I tried out Omega and Tudor, but they didn't sing for me. PP doesn't appeal to me much, and AP is not in the cards for me yet. I thought this GMT might be my endgame, but I think there will be just one more to grasp at. I'm hoping to celebrate my next milestone promotion or milestone birthday with a classic yellow gold 36mm Day-date champagne dial. I think I could stop there. After that, a steel white dial Daytona would just be icing on the cake, but not really a necessity...

    Wow!! Congratulations and thank you for sharing… very informative and helpful. It’d be neat to see this dial next to a smurf 116619 dial. I’ve only seen this watch once recently and love the depth of blue of the dial. Reminded me of a puddle of beautiful wet blue paint accentuated by the ceramic bezel and bezel inserts colors. Seems like AD’s are different nowadays.. everything is different. Sounds like your ad either has integrity or is guilty of something but that seems a bit much imho. I’d be pissed if they removed the stickers, not to mention them basically sizing you up. *My AD will sell you oyster/jubilee combos with any appropriate Rolex at retail. I almost bought a used (new) Pepsi and asked that specific question. Actually just ordered one for my datejust that’s getting serviced. @@sc1 I really hope the AD considers you for the Daytona. Some ADs dont care though and are happy to keep your hopes up while you spend more and more money. To them youre a good client because youre spending money thinking you will eventually get it but they will never allocate one for you. A good suggestion would be to bundle your DD with a Daytona or since youre spending that kind of money on a PM why not just buy a solid gold daytona? You have about $110,000 in purchase history but its irrelevant if there are others that are spending 5x that and especially on lesser desirable pieces. When I spoke with one SA he told me that management def sees a big difference in someone that has a 100k history on only steel models vs someone that is buying 1-2 items like the pearlmaster with diamonds equating 100k. Regardless...looking forward to the DD review/unboxing.

    I’m suspicious about what my AD is telling me about supply. They might be overstating the scarcity of some models to placate me when I don’t get them, or make me feel better when I do actually get one. There is probably a good supply of these pieces, but the demand is stronger than the asking retail price. So the supply is shifting over to the gray market. I think it is due mostly to the individual customers buying from an AD then selling to the gray market, but also a few ADs selling back door directly to the gray market. Rolex is trying to crack down on both, while slowly raising their retail prices each year. IMO.

    Unlike the meteorite, the blue dial was never super-hot, even during the run up earlier this year. But still very difficult to get at the AD. If you think it will be a long term keeper, it makes sense to pay a little more over 45K. But if you might sell it on, try to get closer to retail.
