Love the look and set up of controls on the S model

We had a Porsche Macan T for a courtesy car while our Cayenne was getting serviced. While it wasn't the V6 engine, the 4-cylinder was actually quite pepi and the ride (on the optional air suspension) was REALLY good. We were actually sad to turn it in and get our Cayenne back. Honestly, if you have the money, get a Macan. Now I see why there are SOO many where I live (Southern Cali).

considering the price of Acura and Lexus small SUV are getting up there in price, the Porsche is way more fun to drive! My only concern is long term reliability.

@@GuitarsAndSynths I wouldn't be concerned with that too much because if they had bad reliability, why are the values of 40K, 50K, and even 60K mile cars selling between $40K and $50K? Unlike Audi, Porsche puts more effort and quality into their cars, plus their mechanics are trained to a very high standard (at least what I've been told).

The Macan T seems like the sweet spot for the Macan. I have a 2020 base and find the engine is plenty powerful for my city driving. I’m thinking the T trim may be my next one, they get such good reviews.

@@apriljones2272Don’t think of the T as a different car to the base, think of it as a more specced-up base with a different badge on it.

Do you know if the front passenger seats folds back very much? Like if you need to put something long, can the front passenger fold back enough that you can carry something really long? Probably would need to remove the headrest.

That exterior color is beautiful! Needs the 21" wheels IMO.

I have a 2021 Macan S, did they fix the lag of the throttle out off corners? Which makes it a horrible driving experience

"really cool..." translation: Optional Feature ;-) I love/hate how Porsche does options - close to bespoke but they add up really quickly - I suppose that you could buy off the dealer floor - dropping your kids college fund on custom paint and odd interior color combos is way more fun!

kind of interesting for a high trim Porsche SUV the gauge cluster is very simplistic.

I live in Utah and currently have a Q8 we want another SUV for the winter but just a tad smaller which the Macan S definitely fits that profile! So would you say that you recommend this over the BMW X3M40i, SQ5, or the comparable Mercedes suv?

My mom has a x3 m40i while my dad has the macan s. The macan is sportier but I would say from driving in both a lot the x3 is a better winter suv. The awd system is one of the best and it’s a little bit bigger than the macan. The power is very similar.

Agree that Porsche prices have skyrocketed in the last few years. The 2021 Macan S had a base MSRP of $61k. The 2024 model is now $74k ! Total price will be approx $90k with options which is crazy.

Where I live, an S with decent options will set you back $104.5 USD! Wish it cost $90K. Your market is much better than many around the world.

Very thorough review. The Porsche Macan S pricing starts where a fully loaded Genesis GV70 3.5 Sport Prestige stops ($68K), and you are in the 80K+ range for the Macan as you add option after option after option. It was closer to $84K to match the GV70 3.5 Sport Prestige option for option, which I couldn't justify, and how often do folks really drive at 8-9 levels on twist roads. I would love a loaded GTS if I could afford it, but the Macan S is overpriced versus available competition in my opinion.

the GV70 is not as good of a value as the x3 m40i, which is a significant step ahead of the 3.5 gv70 in performance for a similar price. The Macan S represents another step up from the x3 m40i, and is not comparable with gv70. Having driven the gv70 it felt similar with JLR SUVs, decent car with very nice interior, but the drive feels loose and less planted compared to the germans. Not that any of it matters for cruising down a freeway.

Macan S starts at 72K for 2024 models. After adding a bunch of must-need options, its easily over 80K. If you want a nice exterior and interior, it becomes close to 90K. That being said, Macan S is on a different level compared to GV70 or comparable BMW and Mercedes models. I had a Genesis for 5 years and now own a Cayenne coupe S. It's a different level

Having owned a bunch of Teslas, i went and tested a 21 with 15K miles a few weeks back. Great suspension and seats but the rest of it felt about 100 years old. Just felt like a big A3, with overboosted steering and the DSG stumbling in traffic. Was super disappointed.

As someone who has owned both Tesla Model 3 and Model Y. I went and tested a brand new 2023 Macan S and ended up buying it because it's that good.

Tesla is a glorified golf cart. Driven a few and much of it feels like a cheap econobox. I wouldnt pay more than $10k for one of those. Its like comparing a timex watch to a rolex

The add up bullshitt is crazy. I wish it was straight price 60k or 70k. You add options easily go close to 100k. I reather buy gle 580 with real v8 engine if i have 100k budget 🤪

I will be buying a GTS once they have the new PCM 6 in the macans

@@jonathangullett3143 yeah well i currently drive an RS3, and was thinking of a GT4 as a second car, but potholes are making me hate driving it, im getting 3 or 4 flats a year. im looking for something within the same range and horsepower but rides higher. The GTS is the perfect 1 car garage, I at least wouldn't need the GT4, its basically a GT4 and a macan in one, i can just sell the RS3 and get a GTS and wouldn't need the GT4. I don't mind the price difference and they are the same horsepower as well

@@mjordan5382 theres only 5 ways to wealth in this world, you either inherit it, or have a high paying job or career, or your an entrapenure and have a buisness, or you have a talent and your in the entertainment/sports industry, or save and invest.. if you dont come from money or have a business or skill or a high paying career, there is only ONE of these 5 that guarantees you wealth.. save and invest 25% of your income consistently every month, by 15 20 or 30 years youl be wealthy, if you have no other skills or buisness or anything else, this is guaranteed for you to be wealthy. I tell that to everyone, and i work in finance. Anybody can be wealthy, it's just that people don't have dedication or patience or consistency or diligence, and they have so much debt and can't at the very minimum save and invest 25% of what they make. If you're not an athlete or have a skill or a higher paying job or a business, at the very LEAST you should be getting wealthy through saving and investing. Even if you make 50k a year if you save and invest 1k a month for 30 years youd have 6.2 million, and 3.2 by 25 years, and 1.6 million by 20 years. If you started between 18 and 22 years old you'd be retired in your 40s, or by at least 38..with 6.2 million youd be living on 250k a year for the rest of your life, and this is if your only saving 1k a month, if you bump that up to 2k a month youd double it, youd have 12.5 million, youd be living on 500k a year

Car and Driver measured 0-60 at 3.8 seconds. Power isn’t everything.

Getting to be too many ho um so called reviews.

Terrible review. Not once is the sticker price even mentioned. The Dixie cup and chalice comparison is more accurately represented by a comparison of a canvas handbag at Walmart vs. a Louis Vuitton plastic-coated canvas bag: something that does the same job, but is higher-priced because of the visible logo and its message to all: "I'm rich, therefore I am cool." NO.

These have gotten way too expensive. For a modestly equipped one, it’s $15k more than an SQ5 or a X3m40. Let’s not forget that it’s essentially an Audi with a Porsche badge

So true. I had 2 -2022 BMW x3s ( x30i and switched to M40i). M40i about $70k great tech, problems from day 1. I sold it back and lost so much. I decided for my next German I would try a 19 CPO Porsche Macan S with 18k miles, honestly the seats are more comfortable, but the ride is night and day… Macan is a sportier drive.. the Porsche has so much more quality materials and even when the door closes the sound is heftier the the X3. X3 much better tech and gadgets but the materials where not any better then my Lexus or Toyota… which I would definitely want in a premium car like a BMW. The maintenance that comes with a new BMW is definitely better then what Porsche has to offer. I built my own Macan cane out to $97k lol 😂. I think if you find a good CPO that someone took the hit on it’s a sweet deal. My Macan originally cost $85k 😅 nice someone took that hit so I can have a little fun at a more affordable price 😊

@@Rissybear nice. Yeah the new m40i has a horrible ride, but it’s definitely the quickest amongst its competitors. CPO Macan would be a nice option, but the Macan is actually pretty small compared to the X3, and I occasionally do use my SUV like an SUV a few times a month, so the extra space inside the X3 and the included maintenance costs might be worth the jittery ride. Ive never found BMW interiors to be sub-par quality even compared to Porsche, so to each their own in that regard. IMO I’m not a huge fan of the glc43 so that’s out, and the SQ5 is lacking in performance, it’s about a second slower to 60 than the X3, not that that really matters, but still, when youre spending $65-70k on a sporty SUV, you dont want the slowest in the bunch.

@@jakes5530 yes I found it really bumpy too I thought it was the run flats but, Actually the Porsche is bumpy as well lol 😆 for gas mileage and ride the x30i was the smoothest ride and got 25mpg. Not as fast at the 6 cylinders but still pretty fun. I agree with Mercedes and Audi being out.. definitely Macan is much smaller but we don’t have kids and just a small dog.. so both work great. The X3 is square and the Macan is rounded… they each have their own style and personality. I think the X5 is pretty nice, but so hard for me to get in and out of I am 5’0 …so either X3 or Macan work well for me. I’m on week 5 with it, I don’t plan on keeping too long.. I will always love the X3. Before finding this Macan I almost went with a new X4 m40i, but it was new and meant I had to trade my 2023 Venza Limited… I really want to keep the Venza it is still worth what I paid and great gas 44mpg.. so I have my “appliance”car🤣 and my fun car.

I have an X3 and Macan S. Serving two different purposes in my family. Night and day differences. The X3 is bigger and very nice. A great family car that can do light utility. However, it does not stir the soul. The Macan does. It too can be a family vehicle and can do many practical things, but it’s best suited for two. What differentiates it from the X3 is its handling on the road and a sense of cohesiveness with the driver. You can definitely feel that the venerable 911 is a sibling. When I want a driving enthusiast’s ride in a cross-over small SUV, it’s the Macan every time. As far as its relationship to Audi and VW, yes, they are in the same family but completely different vehicles. What they share is far less than what sets them apart. Each serving their own niches. The Macan is a Porsche, through and through. You will not get that feeling in an Audi, VW, or X3. It’s just a matter of what you want.
