Petzl announces the new Aquila climbing harness for Spring 2022. It utilizes the same FuseFrame technology as the Hirundos harness but includes adjustable leg loops and a fifth, extra large gear loop. This new iteration of the Aquila has been completely overhauled with wider waist and leg loops, modified materials, improved gear loop design, and a much more functional haul loop.

Loved the lineup explanation! More brands should do them! Great video and presentation.

Is an update on the Sitta coming? If not, I'd be interested in how the new Hirundos compares weight- and packability-wise

As far as we've seen, there is no new Sitta in the works for this year. Maybe next year? As soon as the Hirundos is released, we'll post it on WeighMyRack so you can compare it to the current (previous) version of the hirundos and the Sitta... and every other harness on the market. Here's a link to Petzl's current and past harness lineup: bit.ly/3F9owbc

Looks like a sensible progression of the design - nice! I'd be keen to see an equivalent discussion of the new Hirundos (though I'd assume there are a lot of similar features).

I thought about doing a Hirundos video also, but they 2 videos would be virtually identical with the obvious differences being the lack of buckles on the Hirundos legs and the slight differences in waist and leg loop dimensions, resulting in slightly different weights. But they are pretty much the same harness minus those things.

@@WeighMyRack thanks for highlighting the differences here. Having now looked more closely I realise just how similar they are (with the Aquila being the obvious one to cover, in that the Hirundos 'removes' features). Thanks as ever for these videos - worth so much more than the manufacturers photo and blurb.

Can you elaborate? This video was describing the Aquila. Are you asking if we have a video on the Altitude? if yes, we haven't filmed a video on the Altitude in many years and it's changed since then.

I can‘t Unterstand the Fixation of the caritool. At First i Must buy new caritools and Second i can Not believe the fixation of it. Sorry Petzl i think this is Not the best way.

As an Italian the pronunciation he has of Aquila, makes my ears bleed every time. In Italian Aquila means Eagle

You removed the caritool loop and made nothing good, the Evo Caritool with that piece of cord is useless, a great harness, but without caritool loop it remains only a summer piece of gear
