@@user-ix6mg1py8x Personally, I’m NOT a fan of the skin-to-skin with the father. My husband doesn’t care for it either. We had a hospital birth with our first baby, and with all the crap they did to me, they gave our daughter over to him for skin-to-skin and it just felt wrong to me as a mom to watch that. Homebirth since then and I take a pretty hard baby stays with Mom always strategy now.

Id be interested to see what research you’re referring to with the radiation claims. From my understanding they emit non ionising frequencies… you’d be more at risk from the background radiation which is passing through us all the time. What are some suggestions other than swaddling? We have been swaddling our 5 w/o for sleep time because he startles himself awake with morrow reflex if he isn’t swaddled. And if he isn’t swaddled tightly, he will do anything he can to get through. We are cautious about letting him out of the swaddle during awake times, feedings, etc but all 3 of us need sleep at night. What is your advice? Thanks!

I hear you about giving food too early, but I think Kids are not all the same in that. My First was an early teether, but was interested in food at the fouth tooth. Our second is a later teether, but stole food from our hands at 4.5moths. And I Had more milk with my second, so She was not starving! She Just wanted to eat solids. We gave only fruit and veg purees at First, but She soon wanted our porridge, and She occasionally got some. Also, She Had (non anaphylactic) cmpa, and for some reason as soon as She started those solids (sweet potatos, carrots, fennel..) her stool got so much healthier. I still breasfed, but She Had lightly Bloody stool every now and again, no matter how well I excluded cows/cowsmilk/protein/soy/other milk produces/gluten/eggs.

There’s tons of research spanning decades that shows negative effects on biological organisms, even DNA manipulation. You just have to make the effort to seek it out instead of having it served to you on a silver platter, given that there are many more interests to make it inaccessible and taboo rather than available. Avoiding EMFs should be standard practice for all humans, no matter how old. Take your iPhone and read the regulatory small print for example, there’s a reason why it lists the most bizarre warnings that basically would render the phone unusable if followed. It’s not fear mongering, it’s letting you know that there’s an issue that you should probably spend some time trying to understand for yourself and family, but like anything useful, it takes time and commitment on your own part.

My husband worked with measuring EM-radiation. It's everywhere, and devices have to filter out the signals they are supposed to "listen" to. So, not much to do here, really. I agree with mainly keeping the devides away from babies/toddlers/children (actually everyone, as studies have show that even having a phone on the table disrupts some of the communication between people) due to the device distracting away from the child, which needs to learn inter-human interactions

  • @amygreen3081

@@lollsazz Thanks. My husband told me the same when i expressed the concern brought up from this video. He said they are non ionising frequencies and you’d be at way more risk from the background radiation and there’s no data to show concerning effects physically on us from being near phones etc. As you say there is the other side of it which is very real in terms of the distraction but that’s very different and more a matter of how you use the device rather than a problem with the device itself.

Thanks for the info! I have a question about the EMF bullet point. Claiming EMF has negative health issues, you recommend replacing a WiFi baby monitor with a closed circuit monitor (your link is to the Infant Optics DXR-8 Pro kit). But looking at that product, it uses a 2.4GHz FHSS wavelength for data transmission, which is the same wavelength used by traditional WiFi (along with 5GHz sometimes). I might not be understanding the point you’re trying to make, so could you share what would be the health benefit for swapping to a closed circuit system? Also, I’d definitely be interested in reading your source showing EMF is harmful to babies in particular, because I haven’t been able to find anything concrete on the subject yet.

They claim to “harmonize” EMF but it doesn’t do anything to block EMF. I’m not even sure what they mean by harmonize either. I suggest getting faraday fabric to block EMF (like making a sleep sack and hat/beanie) for your baby if you use a wifi camera.

-Elimination communication. -Tummy time does not need to be laying down, you can help them strengthen their neck muscles while holding them. -Over stimulating toys are more interesting for the parents, but your four month old well actually have more benefit from a plain wooden black than they will from a toy that lights up and plays music… bonus points for textured. - sometimes you think your baby is ready for a nap, because of timing or whatever, but it might just be you who needs a nap. Don’t spend an hour trying to force your kid into a nap when their entire normal hour. It did not work, you just wasted the entire wake period and caused a lot of stress on you and on your baby.

Thanks for encouraging video :) The only remark I would like to make is that electromagnetic waves we use for communication (wifi, phones, etc) aren’t able to influence biomolecules including DNA, so it is no reason to fear they can cause cancer.

Neither of my kids cared much about cereals or jarred foods, i tried them at whatever age their ped. suggested but until 10 or so months we were basically just throwing them out because they lost interest a few bites in. And my daughter is 11 months and mostly we feed her a toned down version of whatever were eating just to not throw away a bunch of baby foods. Theyre healthy kids though, they just prefer milk before a year old. If you think about it logically before modern grocery stores and fancy appliances nobody was giving puree foods to their babies anyways, they just waited until they were ready and cut small bite sized pieces of whatever they had.

Hi Bridget, does changing the babys diaper multiple times in the night affect the baby in any way? As in does it cause distress for example... because lanolin is something i dont think i can use, it is not animal free

I agree that breastfeeding for the first year is best but how are grains empty calories if you use whole grains? They have vitamins, minerals, calories and fiber that is great for feeding the gut

Thanks for the radiation reminder. I used to be super careful with my First, and even now I only let her Watch the iPad once weekly whitout wifi, but with my second, we are Always together, I sometimes forget about my phone being close to her😢

I don’t understand when people and doctors suggest rice cereals. Or to give a breastfed baby formula at night to keep them full longer. The only reason they “stay full” longer is because their digestion system struggles to digest it! That isn’t good! We would never eat anything hard to digest before bed, why would people suggest such things for baby? 🤦🏽‍♀️

That’s because it doesn’t actually make sense if you look at the science. The frequency of the waves isn’t a problem for us… there’s more risk coming from just being alive around the background radiation that exists.

DEFINITELY Wait until the baby cries for hunger!!!!! Lol I was such a “too caring mother” for my first daughter, I always caught her early hungry sign and breastfed/bottle fed her for a year, now she’s 4, she’s never been interested in eating since she’s born 😂😂no matter how much she ran all day and super hungry. So NOT reacting to your baby’s hunger sign right away is actually very important sometimes to develop their hunger desire and interest of eating!!!

Such terrible advice re: not swaddling - I've seen so many new mothers struggle and struggle until they started swaddling the baby and nothing gets in the way of the mother/baby bond more than a mother suffering through poor mental health.

Agreed that mama needs the help of a good swaddle to keep baby calm so her recovery and mental health progress positively. I don’t think she’s saying “don’t swaddle at all”, I think she means be aware of how often and how tightly. My newborn loves the swaddle so much that I have to open it up to get him to eat otherwise he’ll fall back asleep before he fills his stomach. Also if I have him swaddled most of the day, his joints and the opportunity to stretch his muscles is limited. Swaddling is a must just not all day everyday.

Some new parents may be unclear. As Bridget mentioned, balance is important here. Swaddling can definitely be helpful, but swaddling is not the right answer in every situation so swaddle sparingly. Keeping a newborn swaddled all day is not a good idea. Hunger cues are important for new parents to learn and recognize BEFORE the crying starts and swaddling can hinder that for parents. Skin to skin is so beneficial and is also soothing to baby. Some overly swaddled babies can have issues with weight gain among other things which is so crucial especially in the beginning.

It’s actually great advice. Swaddling is awful… for my kids at least. What helps? Wrapping them with a baby wrap around your body ❤

I think she's more referring to swaddling incorrectly. A lot of people swaddle baby very tightly from arms to toes. Recent studies show that you can swaddle the arms, but that the leg area should be lose as to avoid hip dysplasia. Swaddling is still a good thing, but definitely not too tight or all day long so they can develop motor skills.

Button and light up toys are important for baby’s development because they learn cause and effect and can help them develop their fine motor skills. All toys help babies and children learn new skills. This video is really just trying to add to the mom guilt.

Beware swaddeling loosely with arms up makes no sense at all! If you are worried just reduce the amount of time you swaddle your baby. But if you swaddle do it corectly and thightly - this is a parents sleep saviour!! A too loosely swaddled baby, especially with fingers by his face will just be fussy...
