It was a full cathedral Monday for the beloved Queen of Creole Cuisine.

Rest In Peace beautiful lady. I’ll never forget meeting Mr. Dookey at the restaurant many years ago and the pride they had in serving guests and making them feel comfortable. Mrs. Leah was truly gracious and you could see her heart beating for her labor of love. Family be encouraged.... her legacy lives on and most importantly....absent in the body... Present with the LORD!

NOT famous across the country! SHE was WELL KNOWN AROUND THE WORLD! I was in Paris France playing with Louis Armstrong on a tour through Europe. Now this was many years ago. They took us to a place over by the Metropolitan that was supposed to have a good soul food. Louis started talking about Dooky Chase and said every time he leaves the country he wishes he could pack a trunk full of food to last them through the tour. When you are in possession of finely tuned taste buds that are specifically Ratified by monumental soul, food like that, which comes from the kitchen of Dooky Chase, you are ruined for life!
