Thank you lovely :) yeah shopping is last on the list unless someone wants me to get something or it's something I've wanted. I can't stand shopping just cause I already get a bunch of stuff just cause. And when you move as often as me, keeping it light weight is the way to go!

I'm literally in tears now that I've watched this after Prince died! This has a new meaning to it....

Traveling. Eating great food. Photographing Prince. Speaking on a panel with Soledad O'Brien (HERO! Journalism/Media Arts graduate over here!). Learning and exploring new territories. Making new friends. Being in the presence of beautiful Black people. UGH. Your job is everything. What a LIFE. Of course it's not glitter and gold, but damn. That's a lot to be grateful for, especially during the times you feel down.

Maya your are honestly so inspiring just from watching your videos I can tell just how much of an amazing person that you are and I thank you for sharing yourself with the world. You inspire me on a daily basis and have been a strong positive influence on me since your first video. I hope to one day be as great as you. Love you girl

Seeing Maxwell at Essence is still one of the best highlights, but when Lionel Richie brought the members of The Commodores on stage I was super happy. Suggest that everyone goes to Essence at least once in a lifetime, well worth the money and experience. Plus New Orleans is just beautiful, and the food...still lip smacking.

I was sooo excited to see this! I have always been a huge Prince fan, and at the time of the Essence event I visited L.A. for the first time. Something told me to plan my trip the correct way. Fly to L.A., fly to New Orleans and go back home. You were living my dream, and that is HELLA AWESOME! :)

I saw Prince TWICE when he came to Honolulu and I think he was The Artist Formerly Known As, lol! My friends back home on Maui have heard him perform at a random club a few times too. LOVE HIM!!! Awesome as always, Maya!!! :)

So fun! I got to see Prince in concert twice. The second time I was in the second row. It was seriously the best concert I have ever been to. Amazing!!!

New Orleans looks beautiful! I love how bright and colorful the city is. I'm a HUGE music fan so I've gone to so many concerts that I've honestly lost count. I've been going to concerts since I was 7. :-) Some of my favorite have been The Killers, Phoenix, Paul McCartney, the Rolling Stones, Madonna, and St. Vincent.

I enjoyed your footage Shameless Maya Ritz Carlton. . .What a way to stay! New Orleans is so much fun. I love NOLA especially right *after* Essence because the hotel rates drop and the energy of Essence Fest is still present! Dish soap and salt. . . great tip! ETA: OMG! Your Prince photos are phenomenal! What a view. You make me want to be a better photographer girl! Wow!

I, too, had the pleasure of enjoying Prince's PurpleEssence on July 4th, and though I didn't have floor seats or the pleasure of being his photographer for the event (*can't you just hear my jealousy?*), his show was phenomenal!! Definitely a once in a lifetime experience that was well worth it!
