Here's my personal experience, as a long-time One Piece fan following both the anime and the manga: Both will hit you in the feels. Hard. And once you've experienced a single crack in your emotional armor, One Piece will hit you even harder with every following blow. That goes for all emotions. I've laughed my ass off many times with the anime and nearly died of laughter in the manga. I've cried more for One Piece's anime than possibly for all other media I've watched combined, and the manga will still push me to the brink of dehydrated eyes from crying too much at certain moments. Their are a few key reasons I recommend people read the manga (at the very least after catching up to the anime). 1- The manga is faster to consume. You can plow through the manga without facing some of the pacing choices that Toei chose to implement within the anime (at certain moments/arcs, not the ENTIRE show), possibly so the anime doesn't fully catch up to the manga/source material. 2- Oda uses the covers of each chapter to tell connected side stories, dubbed "cover stories", to keep up with the countless characters that we've met along the way. That's something the anime doesn't really touch on. And 3- Because the manga is further ahead of the anime, the fans who are "anime only" will face the inevitable release of spoilers from the manga. And there are some MASSIVE spoilers that can, and will, instantly take over the internet for anyone that hasn't blocked every ounce of One Piece news from their feed. I started with the anime years back, then I caught up to via the manga. And I still find myself loving both the anime and the manga at the end of the day. With the manga showcasing Oda's incredible art, character growth/dialouge, and worldbuilding with an unaltered lense. And with the anime displaying some of the greatest voice acting performances I've ever witnessed in my life, paired with phenomenal soundtracks and ever-improving animation from arc to arc. I recommend both, for the goal of finding the most enjoyment possible.

Japanese VAs are next level, and One Piece certainly has the crème de la crème of the field. The VA for Zoro in particular can create a presence with his voice alone that's indescribable.

Reading is a bit different to watching. For one, you get to see the SBS and the Cover Stories, which are like extra story on top of what's in the chapter. Also, once you catch up you can finally indulge in fanbase theory crafting. XD And yes, the manga hits hard too. Oda's art is on point. Sometimes it's worth just looking at panels. There's been a lot recently that have been fire as hell.

Great video, I've only started reading the manga after i got caught to the anime about 2 years ago, because i loved watching one piece content on YT and there were spoilers everywhere, so i decide to just read the manga so nothing would be spoiled for me, ever since then i haven't watched an episode at all, only cool or key moments Here's the thing about the anime, while the great voice acting and the fact that its animated give it more life, the anime at some point becomes way to slow paced, so reading the manga just saves so much time and let's you avoid spoilers ( plus there's some cool stories in the cover pages, those are fun) This comment is too long now, maybe if you wanna read it, you could read it and then watch the key moments you want to see animated, idk I'm just looking forward to see what you think of the alabasta saga 😁 Also please let us know if you read or watched it in your next review, because there are a few differences sometimes due to censorship

First comment and i am not even one minute in! oh boy here we go again! hehe just kidding. :) 0:38 maybe you should ask if the anime is as good as the manga because well manga is the source material, the only reason we have an animated version is because someone sit down and created the manga in the first place. :) 1:30 take this with a grain of salt, five years ago Oda said that it will end in five years, ten years ago he said that it will end in five years, fifteen years ago he said that it will end in five years and so on, i put my hand in fire that in two years he will again come and say that it will end in five years!! hahaha :) 1:45 this video contain spoilers, that's post time-skip Nami for you. 10:55 you will definitely cry in at least two different scenes, one is at the end of Enies Lobby arc or episode 312 and at the end of Marineford arc or episodes 483 & 485. 11:05 i don't know if you noticed it but this guy have a beard and his beard is black!! hahaha lol :) 14:27 you may like it but you won't see it anytime soon, this clip is taken from episode 1000 something. 21:30 i think that the emotional scenes are better to watch them animated than to read them in the manga, what makes them so sad is 50% what you see and 50% what you hear and trust me it's the music that will make you cry like a little girl! :)

Anime Pros Music - just excellent Voice Acting - Gives you personal connection to the characters Anime Cons In Canon Filler - for example they will add some facial expressions of character reaction to something when no one reacted to it in that way in the manga Manga Pros Fast Read/No Stalling - you literally will be done with volumes in the blink of an eye Manga Cons Moments may pass by too fast - their are moments in the Manga, which are supposed to hit hard but don't, then I watch them In the Anime and I get hit hard with emotion. This has to do with phenomenal voice acting bring you in more so then a speech bubble can.

Talking about the speech in the video as he continues, without adding anything, just repeating or denying or agreeing with that small excerpt... To me, it seems like a strategy to hide that you're not paying attention and make it look like you are. Besides being extremely irritating... it doesn't make me believe in the slightest that the reactor is actually reacting!

  • @doxyanime

Actually that would prove the opposite. It was a factual video for me to learn about the manga and why I should read it. Its not a video that I need to scream and shout in, nothing shocking happens. I was literally listening to a creator explaining why people should read something. Should I have been dancing?
