I really like this product. Classic Moog timbre, with innovative (while not ground-breaking) features. And with a normal price tag (I dare say cheap, at least the launch price). I think they're finally changing, without betraying their original sound and history. I'm looking forward for the new hardware. I can see around the Tube old fanboys are freakin' out, well, bad for them. I'm sick of this kind of snobbery in this hobby. And I'm happy to see a self declared fan as Tiger Arcade embracing the new course. By the way, thanks for the video.

I've been waiting for the Minitaur to come back in stock, so it was a surprise to see a Moog email about this bass synth pop up in my inbox yesterday morning and I tried it out immediately! Liking its sound so far, I think I may change my hardware pick to a Subharmonicon and let the Mariana take the place of the Minitaur.

Personally I think this is the wrong direction for Moog. Sure software is always welcomed but Moog is the epitome of hardware and I think this synth after the buyout of Moog is undervaluing their current line up now. 1st it was their Moogerfooger pedals, now this. I wont lie, sounds great, but if software is starting to emulate hardware, well you can see where this is heading.

Never hurts to add more soft synths and effects to their arsenal since that is a direction more people are going. I know the CEO mentioned they are cooking up a hardware synth for early next year. Can’t wait for more deets on that. Tbh this Mariana synth is pretty impressive sounding for a soft synth. I don’t think it will replace anything. Just offering more options for people.

@@Tiger.Arcade I think it's just sending the wrong message, here they are struggling with hardware sales, then offering software solutions. Whilst I am never pessimistic, being more realistic, I think again that this could be viewed as a direction they want to pursue, ie more software than hardware. I couldn't find anything more boring than sitting in front of a screen and using a mouse. I do this only when I do editing or post, but hardware is what I prefer due to the tactile interfaces. Again, don't get me wrong when it comes to software, people can use what ever they want, just that Moog could be going down that path of, software is a more viable and sustainable business model. Moogerfooger pedals was a shame, as those are some great pedals.

@@dankeplaceI prefer hands on as well. However, I’m not a DAWless kind of person. When it comes to recording tracks I use LOGIC PRO X and will from time to time use soft synths. I’ve also connected my eurorack setup and hardware gear with my DAW for effects. I now use the moogerfooger plugins a lot. It took some adjusting but now I’m more comfortable doing it that way.

@@Tiger.Arcade I use Protools, going dawless requires a vast amount of skill and knowledge on how you print your work. DAWs offer that pliable solution which allow post. I know there are some mixers that will record stereo and even multi track, but you still have to edit, the beauty though is you're using the mixer to get most of your work done sonically. If you have a vision of your mix when recording, doesn't matter how you record, DAW/less, there is an inherent skill still required to shape your sound. As I don't have a mixer, I am reliant to extract my work in post, BUT most is done in my print. It's just getting the gear all to sound nice in a stereo mix. This is why I like using sequencers, I know what I want before I record, I know how to manipulate the sequencers during a live recording and this is what makes using hardware so much fun. Happy accidents (you would know with modular as that's the gateway), this is where I find the traditional route to making music boring, where as creating it as you go is an absolute blast. Things I find very sterile in software, if any of this rant makes sense. I don't know if you have heard/seen, but the Reliq should be on your radar. It would be perfect for you as it is a hybrid hardware/software solution that does stuff I have never seen before. It's and end game for me, but it's not out till next year so I focus on what I have now.

In a way I see synths like violins.. if you can't play them they sound like shit. That being said I haven't heard nice synths in music since the 80s. I own a few myself, including some Behringers, closest I got to the original classics is the Roland D50, but here's the neat part: when I fiddle about I realise when it sounds like shit I don't film and post myself on the internet 😂 On the other hand, when people know what they're doing, they create full songs starting from a humm. FL Studio's 3xOsc videos are a good watch
