New MERCEDES C-Class 2022 - SAFETY systems & CRAZY technology

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Taking a look at the offiical Mercedes footage of the new C-Class 2022 model, and in this video you can see the crazy technology and safety systems that this car has.
MORE INFO ABOUT THE SYSTEMS:
Compared to the previous C-Class series, the latest generation of the Driving Assistance Package has additional and advanced functions. These reduce driver workload in day-to-day situations, for more comfortable and safe driving. When danger threatens, the assistance systems are able to respond to impending collisions as the situation demands. The operating principle of the systems is visualised on the driver display by a new display concept.
Advancement of the assistance systems: three examples
On all types of roads - motorways, country roads or in town - Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC can automatically maintain a preset distance from vehicles ahead. One new feature is the response to stationary vehicles on the road at speeds up to 100 km/h (previously: 60 km/h).
Active Steering Assist helps the driver to stay in lane at speeds up to 210 km/h. New features include additional lane recognition with the 360° camera, forming an emergency corridor especially at low speeds, significantly improved availability and performance in bends on country roads and improved lane centring on motorways.
In addition to conventionally posted speed limits, Traffic Sign Assist recognises signs on overhead gantries and at roadworks. Even conditional instructions (e.g. "when wet") are recognised by evaluation of all on-board sensors. New are the stop sign and red light warning functions (as part of the Driving Assistance Package).
Rear-axle steering: more agile and dynamic
The new C-Class is especially agile and stable with the optional rear-axle steering and the accompanying, more direct steering ratio at the front axle. The steering angle at the rear axle is 2.5 degrees. This reduces the turning circle by 43 centimetres to 10.64 metres.
The driver also needs fewer turns of the steering wheel for full lock. With rear-axle steering, and depending on the drive concept, this requires 2.1 instead of 2.35 turns (rear-wheel drive with comfort steering) or 2.3 turns (4MATIC versions with comfort steering).
At speeds below 60 km/h, the rear wheels steer in the opposite direction to the front wheels - and by up to 2.5° opposite to the front-axle angle during parking. Depending on the situation, this virtually shortens the wheelbase, and the vehicle is more manoeuvrable, light-footed and agile as a result. At speeds above 60 km/h, the rear wheels steer up to 2.5° in the same direction as the front wheels. This virtual increase in wheelbase has noticeable advantages in the form of improved handling stability and safety at high speeds, during fast lane-changes or sudden evasive manoeuvres.

The tailgating car would stop in the same way if it had the same device. You see, this device is actually useful only if the majority of cars have it, not just one. We should stop thinking about cars as independent silos, their security depends on all the other vehicles as well

It's cool that cars are getting safer with sensors like these, but i'm happy to drive in my 2012 A1 with many luxury options but without any sensors that will stop me. I have driven in some cars with active braking systems and lane assist, and it honestly annoyed me so much. The active braking activated three times but it wasn't in an emergency situation. I think these systems are great for people that don't focus that much on the road while driving. But I always want to drive as perfect as possible and never use my phone while driving as well. So the car doesn't have to brake for me...

I missed driving my MB car! Wow, new tech, rear-axle steering. I'm impress, that's not a luxury feature here in PH with our narrow island roadways. It's a convenient and safe necessity to have while driving. With all those added safety features: lane assist, light, brake assist, etc...this car won't probably drive around here or its computer chip burnout quickly. I may have to manually drive it the old-fashioned way by keeping my eyes peeled from an undisciplined/unruly motorists out there. Thanks MB maker. I'll see you soon at the Plaza Housing dealer in Cebu!

Just a question. If you’re going at a fair speed (45mph let’s say) and someone comes in front of the car, what if there is a large vehicle like a lorry behind you that could impact your car and kill you by braking suddenly?

The real 'scary'(awesome) part is that I already had these options on my w212 from 2013.. except the traffic light recognition and the rear axle steering, which i don't like, no more drifting lol

You should come to West Croydon high street in UK . Multiple hazards every 30ft ! And will this detect flesh and bone humans without a metal bike or scooter? Looks like we need radar, lidar, X-ray ultrasound and a full mri to detect the point of least injury to inflict if we have to make a choice! Joking aside it is all impressive stuff and Indicates Mercedes perception of life’s new hazards looking out for these dam electric scooters. 👍🏽

My impression: reaction comes with a clear delay or is inadequate. An experienced human driver will notice and observe the pedestrian way before he shows already in front of the vehicle. Bypassing a sudden obstacle (like the human driven grey car) may be safer than just breaking when the distance is insufficient. The video demonstrates that it's still a long way to a system that can compete with skilled human drivers.

The swerving thing is what concerns me too! If the car brakes hard, you won't have enough grip on the front end to actually avoid the obstacle like the fist car did.
