NEW Med School Requirement | AAMC PREview Exam Explained

❗ There’s a brand new medical school exam that may be a requirement for you. The AAMC introduced the PREview Professional Readiness Exam as a new situational judgment test for premeds.
The exam is much like Casper, but it is instead developed and administered by the AAMC. It takes 75 minutes and is a multiple choice exam that tests a student’s professionalism.
Since it’s quite new on the scene, it’s very possible you will not have to complete it in order to apply to medical school. In 2023, only 19 schools participated in the test. However, there is a chance future premeds or future residency applicants could be faced with it.
✍ If you need to take a situational judgment test, check out our Casper and PREview courses linked below:

I’m not opposed to testing the empathy of future doctors because as patients such as myself have been saying, some people really shouldn’t be in the medical field if they really don’t care about about helping people in need lol. I understand patients can be horrible at times but that’s not what I’m talking about. I’m talking about you can’t even handle the everyday of dealing with people, which I’ve seen and experienced myself. However, becoming a doctor is already hard enough I don’t think these individuals need more tests to study for! How about we make medical school cheaper or free? Cancel student debt? In my opinion this test is pretty much only necessary if you’re going into fields like surgery where you can’t just show up one day and be mad about stuff and start messing up your job. I do understand this test since some patients will be less inclined to go to doctors who keeps prescribing the medication’s, but they don’t ever get better Or doctors, who lacks the understanding and starts fat shaming people for something that is probably genetic or they can’t control. I am glad that they are using this test to filter our applicants who really wants this job and applicants who are only doing it for the money.

i think thats an optimistic view of this exam, you can still have a "bad" doctor pass with flying marks on this exam as they know how a "perfect" doc or medical student should behave, but once they reach that goal who's to say that this test holds them to that degree once they practice. I think this test is bogus for filtering out premeds who didn't know about this before or don't have the leisure to take it to seem more competitive. I took it last year and the test was ok but tbh it doesn't say how amazing you will be in med school but only how amazing you wanna show them you are when your trying to get in.
