I think it's better not to use them against bosses, but in everyday life against ordinary enemies because they follow you forever and books can be recharged endlessly as well. Hope they will fix wormhole and reconnecting issue soon

But wouldn't that make it annoying when you're not in combat by accidentally miss-clicking your bee's? Probably best saved for right before combat.

@@visoth7791 I basically never click for combat, instead using ctrl f or f, which hopefully stops targeting the bee summons soon

@@zekerdeath yes they fixed targeting in hotfix. Now you don't attack them if pressing f. But leftclick still targets them

Hey beard I just wanted to say thanks for all the help. I watched your beginners guides to characters and learned a lot, got the single player game recently on switch and while I kinda have to filter out all the together stuff, your tips have gotten me halfway through my first winter! I really appreciate how informative and positive you are as it's helped me make sense of this games surprising complexity.

Between on tentacles and this new apiculture book, Wickerbottom actually has some really strong combat options

well this was quite fun to watch. if they keep the Bees cant be hurt by certain bosses when its fully out then i wager there will be lots of buzzing happening soon.

Using Bees vs the Eye of Terror and the Twins is actually like Terraria more than you think (queen bee drops weapons for friendly bees)

@@trulers8713 i was inspired by it, but no. I drew Bee knight (yes i know real original name) who wields either a lance or a shotgun (that fires hexagon honey bullets). Then in the other hand bee knight wields either a shield or a flare gun. and on that drawing this fella was fighting an ant tribe with one of the worker ants using a beetle's husk as a Mecha suit trying to squish ber knight

That's actually really strong. They aren't necessarily the best character specific minion, but when you consider that Wickerbottom already has a lot of other things going for her, they are pretty good. Crab king is often one of the most difficult bosses in this game, so if they can take it easily, then they are certainly useful. Faring well against dragonfly is also useful. Those are two otherwise expensive bosses that you can beat more or less for free with Wickerbottom. The fact that they are terrible against bearger and deerclops is no problem since deerclops is super easy to kite and bearger can easily be baited into commiting tree-assisted-suicide. Obviously, they are worst than useless against bee queen, but she dies easily to tentacles, so it's not like Wickerbottom needs more help there. Tentacles also work relatively well against Klaus, even against enraged Klaus. In several of the other bosses, like Malbatross, they don't do super well on their own, but they still help a lot compared to fighting on your own. So that leaves Fuelweaver, Moon gardian, toadstool and the Twins for which Wickerbottom has fewer good options. I mean, I guess the pens from Pyrokinetics Explained can be used to burn the Sporecap from toadstool but this will leave spore clouds so it's not as good as weather pain. Against the twin, being able to force full moon isn't bad against the Twins. Practical Rain Rituals means you can do slightly more damage with the morning star than you would do with a shadow sword. So even against those bosses, she's still better than Wilson.

I don't know how you feel about character switching but another thing that makes Wickerbottom OP is her ability to control rain and her blow dart farming ability. If you get some spiced volt goat jelly that's 300 damage per hit. This makes quick work of even Fuel weaver. If you use a brightshade staff instead of weather pains it makes FW even easier.

@@cheesedust-n3w I'm totally ok with character switching if you think it's gonna be fun. My rule number one in all my games is the Rule of Fun: everything is permissible if you think it's gonna generate some entertainment value for you and for others. If you like character switching, she sure has a lot of options to offer there too.

Looking at the new books klei could could also remake the old ones like the tentacles will be a shadow tentacles but their friendly, and the thunder book will be usable in the caves like summon a cloud ho attacks only enemies

Does anyone know approximately what Wickerbottom's max DPS is with the grumble bees? Do chillis affect the damage at all? Tentacles feel a little too cheesy so would love a DPS grumble bee build of some kind. Ornery war beef + bees, or chili + blowdart + bees? I know it's all overkill but I'm curious.

Chilli never applies to followers unless it's directly fed to them.

But she still has her tentacles. Right? So I would call bees additional support. Granny is full druid summoner and you can't treat her as anything else, BUT I think that those new books may give her more gameplay variety and let her be more useful in the game.
