Larry treated the Nassau Sport Fishing Association to a very informative tutorial on Pompano fishing 3/27/24. He covered everything you need to know from Tackle to technique. Thank you Fish Man!

That beats catching sand fleas with your bare hands like I used to do. And it looks easier than the old flea rake I had as a kid, it was always catching coquinas and extra stuff.

You can see where their at by the bumps on the surface as the water is receding at the shores edge. One thing I noticed, is that they must sense your presence by the pressure of your body weight on the sand, because at times, I have to run out almost 10 feet to scoop at the bumpy surface where their at.

We've all heard that 10% of the fishermen catch 90% of the fish. Well, that 10% that catches all the fish break down with the exact same percentages: of the 10 percent, there's 1 that catches 90% of the fish while the other 9, not so much.... Well, out of the fishing catching 10%, Larry is the one catching their 90%.

1/4" may be a little too small to filter out shells and the smaller fleas. I guess it would depend on where you plan to try and get them (sandy or shelly/rocky beach), but I like the bigger ones for bait. -only my $0.02...
