    Nice forks, not too heavy that they limit your lifting capabilities. I will be very interested in what you think of the wedge, hopefully they send you a new splitter beam setup with the log rollers closer together. I have found that if I have larger diameter logs it works fine but when the smaller logs drop down between the rollers the rounds push the wedge up resulting in larger splits coming out of the bottom part of the wedge. It is a job to get the wedge to go back down. If you have all large diameter logs it works awesome. Either way the amount of slash that is produced is enormous, more than the box wedge with the pullback arm that we made. Let me know how it works for you, I might be just too picky. Great video!

  • @InTheWoodyard

    @InTheWoodyard

    16 күн бұрын

    Yup, with the real small stuff we drop 2-4 rounds before pushing them through with the ram. I just got a big boiler wood order ( a semi-truck load) And it's going to be all 1/2 and 1/4 splits ( 4 way wedge ) with 20" long rounds. That has to be done first. Then we can run the 16 way wedge!

    Being adverse to spending (cheap) can be very expensive as in this case. Assume just 20 uses of forks each year and a labor saving on average of 1hr each use. Your labor rate of $15/hr and loss of an hours production added value $??. Each year you did not purchase caused a direct cost of $300 and loss of production $??. So if you waited even 27months for a no cost sample you lost money by waiting. Not even taking into account the amount of extra production accomplished in same time either reducing your outside labor expenses or increasing inventory, hence my comment that waiting to make capital investments is usually very costly. Working with muscle between ears is almost always much more rewarding/profitable than using the muscles in ones' back. Hope you are feeling better, my prayers go out to you. Ray

    I have had forks available to me for 3 years and 2 years on the farm. I used them occasionally when they where needed but not real often for what I do. I mostly do firewood for enjoyment and exercise and I see people all the time looking for an easier way in everything they do and they are almost always weak , out of shape, lazy and very over weight...I do not want to be 300 pounds and ride around on machinery all the time like most other people.....manual work is good for you.....lack of it kills.I need more exercise not less.
