    Being 61 and growing up on a poorer dairy farm with crappy equipment the technology today is incredibly. As a heavy equipment operator most of my life after that I seen the technology come to the dozers and other equipment but never had it in the equipment I ran.

    @@planeiron241 Before I got on the poorer dairy farm my stepfather bought we lived on a free stall operation where he milked the cows . When I was 14 I started to work there and they had a 3010,4020 and a 5020 which was one of the biggest tractors around at the time. I got to drive them but did do nothing with them except maybe pull a wagon. But in 78 I joined the Navy Seabees as a heavy equipment operator and was driving all the tractor trailers including special heavy duty DM 800 Mack's. And operating different heavy equipment. But those new tractors today you have to be computer literate and I'm 61 and don't care that much about learning that new advanced stuff.

    I grew up on the the same type of dairy farm. I was born in 1960 and the advancement in farm technology between then and now are absolutely amazing. The way it’s going farmers won’t even have to participate in crop production or milking their cows in the next 60 years. Robots will do all the work and the farmers will basically supervise the operation. What used to take weeks now takes just days even here in Western Kentucky. My whole farm can be planted in less than 6 hours.

    @@davidepool5884 After leaving NY in 88 ,I went back Upstate that is over 20 years after leaving and it was sad . Most of the farms were shut down and look like only hay was made . No more cows ,my stepfather lost his place from poor management in 84. But the other farms I think the heads of households died off and the kids didn't want to carry on.

    Breath taking equipment, with me once I'd gotten over the excitement of driving that beauty ,I would be bored out of my mind it's only one step away from being driverless , if the driver is expected to put in a 15 hour day he or she would need all those creature comforts, it's a massive investment ,I would imagine once the warranty runs out it will be time to chop it in for a new one, when travelling on the road it might have been better had the drill had some flashing beacons. Brilliant video many thanks for giving this old man a ride in that cab. Stay safe ,God Bless Regards Kevin Fox,England Essex.

If you are headed south on I-69 you have to exit on Green River to see the farm. If you are headed North you can see the farm well from I-69. The farm on this video is near I-69 but is an hour north of Evansville.

Did Deere fix some of these issues?

I have been trying to get a 610 to demo this spring with tillage to see how she really pulls. I do want to upgrade my old quad trac in the next year or two and I have really been considering a 610 versatile I have heard nothing but good things about them plus they run Cummins so you can never go wrong. We run the air drills but still have to run tillage because of how hard the ground is here. I really want to demo a versatile before I just buy one but they seem to never get me one in time John Deere just dropped off a 620 9RX yesterday to try this spring but haven’t heard back from versatile or case about a brand new quad trac. Oh man double digits would be absolutely amazing but like I said I’m pretty sure the big issue for me is the hills. A couple of my bigger fields that are literally at the base of the mountain and boarder the tree line climb 500 plus feet in a quarter of a mile. Pretty sure you can do nine ten miles an hour with the Bourgaults if your tractor can. Down hill I can do faster but I stay at five max. Anyways I have loved your videos it’s not even the equipment as much as it is how you give all the specs and some history on that particular machine that is what I love. Plus your quality is awesome and hope you keep doing this for the rest of your life! Would love to see some more old tractors maybe some more unique stuff need to do a potato farm someday.

    KZread does not provide the title space to express all the detail. I wanted to make sure to express this tractor is exciting because we will not see them working like this in full force until next spring. This was a rare opportunity. MY 22 being abbreviated for model year 2022.

    The description in the first sentence says model year 2022. Unfortunately KZread does not provide allot of title room to express the detail needed to share the uniqueness of the tractor. I own three tractors often featured on the channel but rarely say in those videos it’s my tractor.

    The cab and engine were the big update for this round. John Deere built the 8630, 8640 and 8650 from 1975-1988. In 1989 the 8760 came with an all new look. The 9R has included the 9460R, 9570R and now the 9R 490 from 2012 to 2022. I would say in a few years something new will come along in 2024-2025.

    When will Deere (and Case for that matter) figure out 13 liter engines aren't gonna cut it. Need to go 18L and up.

    John Deere do have a new 18l engine coming in 2022 so let's just hope they put that engine in like a 10r tractor or something bigger than the 9r series tractors. For the biggest John Deere 9r/Rx they have a different engine that's something like 15l which produces 640hp and boosts to 691hp. The 18l is estimated to have around 870ish hp.

    @krvnjrcbs oh there's a youtuber named Mike Mitchell who has these massive fields with steep hills which the 9rx tractors can barely get up with these massive 84ft wide drills and sometimes they won't get up and plus implements are also getting bigger and wider so it makes sense to make a bigger tractor for them.

  • @UncleBubbles94

    @UncleBubbles94

    @krvnjrcbs Mike Mitchell is just one example, there are thousands of farms all over the Canadian prairies with the same problem, and Mike doesn't even serious hills like some places do. Drive through the dealer lots up here and the only tractors you see are 620 case and deeres. Mike's drills are not even the largest available, there are 100 foot drills that a 620 struggles to pull on the flats.

    I will stick to my older equipment. Don't need all that electronic junk. I keep all my equipment under roof and take care of it. I penciled it out. I farm just enough that I can take care of, do a good job and sustain my family. I don't have to have new. Money I saved not buying new I paid for my land. Don't have the headache of hiring help. Someone ask me how come I don't get bigger. I penciled it out. I would have to buy bigger and more equipment, Then I would have to hire help to run it. Time I paid for all that I still would be making the same but with more work. My old planter works just fine. They tell me I would get better yields with a new planter. But again I penciled it out. The money I make with better yield would go to? Yup! New equipment, service maintenance and interest. I am doing just fine with old equipment. I have time to enjoy life.
