New Jeep Wrangler JL Unlimited Sport S Looks like we have a lot of work to do!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Don Purchased a new Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport S from Redlands Jeep. Don and Quinn are writing a book for SA Designs on the JL and Gladiator. Quinn purchased a Gladiator Rubicon a few months ago so it seemed reasonable to purchase a new JL for both the book project and the Jeep 4-1-1 videos on this channel. We tested the stock Sport S on the Jeep 4x4 School training course to see how well it performed on the somewhat difficult course. Now we are ready to begin some rad modifications. BTW, Don's JKU Grizzlycon is for sale.

So would it be better to get the Willys or do the mods you recommend to the sport s? 99.9% of my off-road would be beach fishing!

It sounds like everything you recommend needing to add to your Sport comes standard on the Rubicon.

Couldn't agree with this gentleman more. I started out with a Sport S. It's a great base line for a project vehicle.Buying a Rubicon would have been a waste of cash for me. I've put A dana ultimate 60 up front with ARB air lockers f/r with 4:88 gearing. The Sport S is fitted with a Dana 44 in the rear.I hate the idea of stripping the Rubicons stock wheels/tires, sliders, ft/r bumpers, f/r electric lockers, 4:10 gears, suspension, steering damper, fenders, etc. I think you get the idea? I hate to buy any vehicle loaded when I know I'm going to 86 a lot of parts. As a mechanic by trade I perform all the mods.Hey not knocking the Rubicon, its a great turnkey wheeler right out of the showroom. Yeah people will say I can sell all that stuff that I drop from the Rubi. Myself, I don't want to commit the time or hassle with it. In summary, the Sport S gives me the practical option of personalizing the Jeep the way I want it. Peace out.

Hello! I just bought a brand new Unlimited Sport S, we live in LA and would love to start enjoying so many trails that are around the area. I am quite ignorant of 4x4 world and all mods, and I am not planning to change much, just the minimum. You mention in the video a few upgrades that you really recommend. I'm not native in English, Would you mind to write those parts that you suggest for me please? Specially those protections you are referring underneath the car? I would like to just change the type of tires but same size, do you think that is a worthless upgrade if I don't go bigger? I am really not interested in adding bigger tires so I was thinking to upgrade to tires like the BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 but original size (245/75R17) any recommendation for the sway bar disconnect system to upgrade?

Hello, I'm new to the 4x4 world, however I do know English! He recommends skid plates/bash plates to protect the engine and transmission, and rock rails to protect the rocker panels. Good luck and have fun!

Did the jeep in this video have the anti-spin diff rear axle in it?

No. totally stock JL Sport S with a Dana 30 and Dana 35. No limited slip or lockers and poor tires.

@@backcountrydriverOh ok, that is exactly what my 2021 jeep has. The JL dana 35 is the advantek axle I believe. Do you think it would be strong enough for some rugged 33's? I think 33's will fit without a lift. I wasn't planning on going too wide with the tire. 265/275 ish. Thanks! 🙂

33"s should be OK as long as you avoi wheel spin where the tires can suddenly grab traction and possibly break an axle. Be smooth on the throttle and it should work well.@@Roblet217

Thanks for the feedback. Have yo listened to any of the neer versions and what is your opinion? Music is such a personal choice and I would like to have sound tracks that are not offensive, somewhat enjoyable and really nothing that stands out. Appriciate yor feedback. Thanks.
