As someone old enough to remember the Hyundai Excel of the late 1980s, it is truly amazing how far the company has come in terms of design, quality and innovation from that time. They've been making reasonably acceptable cars overall since the mid 2000s, but past few years they really have upped their game, and this car seems fantastic in every way. Just hope they don't keep upping the prices too much!

I'm in Korea now and I actually saw this car. Look at the real thing rather than the video. It's a really cool, stylish car.

Love Hyundai - KIA - Genesis .. this Trio to me is actually putting out affordable cars that have style and finesse .. as well as taking cues from actual owner and drivers .. as you said .. the Trio actually come very close to producing their prototype vehicles .. giving the customer what is ‘actually’ promised in a prototype .. this family sedan reminds me of an Audi A6 or Mercedes CL shape .. the exterior light show that most all new EV’s are are projecting for their drivers are outstanding and the Ionic 6 does NOT disappoint .. I can hardly wait for this vehicle to become another beautiful vehicle in the Hyundai family 👍🏽

This has so much sporty potential, swooping coupe style on the back looks great already. But the front has the opportunity for so much extra aggressive lines and scoops that could make it look nice as a sporty ‘N’ variant

Short front overhang, long wheelbase for cabin space, fastback for aero as well as the large and real spolier+diffuser?! It does not look as the best car out there, but it does look different and practical. I can see the conflict between the design and engineering teams. I am glad that there is some exciting product coming out and I think it's exactly what is needed in this increasingly dull industry.

I think the problem with the design is how the roofline doesn't start sloping at the B pillar like in the concept. This design is however way more practical as the headroom at the rear seats isn't compromised too much.

me thinks the proportions are off. just look at the current "fastback design" Accord and Audi A7 to see what this should look like. (CLS not withstanding) both Honda and Audi have shown these basic elements CAN be put into production and made to look good (and they already did it starting 5 and 10 years ago). Sketch Monkey's already having a "Field Day" with this. #HESLOSINGHISSHIT

This car is one of those color sensitive models. I bet it'll look way better in a shiny midnight black shade.

it does look a bit odd. it's like someone held a large block of modeling clay in the middle by the doors, and then pulled the rear ever so slightly. supposedly this was NOT even the original rear end...? they actually went back and "fixed it" to look this way. I guess the beautiful Prophecy rear wasn't good enough.

@@-SP. The rear looks like a knock-off old Porsche 911 and Merkur XR4Ti with a dash of old Infiniti J30 in the tail lights. It definitely looks like it'll stand out although not in a great way to my eyes.

Looks good, wish looked more like the Prophecy, something like the older Hyundai coupe from the front with an old 911 from the 80's inspiration at the rear with matrix lights. Being an Ioniq5 owner I can see a lot of the same parts on the dash including the metal surround for the screens and lever switch gear. I am excited about the future of the brand just now.

Fantastic analogy! Couldn't have come up with a better one myself. Talk about a melting pot of different cars that we've already seen and enjoyed. This is not innovation or creativity at play here. Let's be honest, just a knock-up of other people's intellectual property in my opinion.

I love the exterior design language of the new Ioniq cars, it’s as if you have asked someone in the 1980s to design a car for the 2020s.

The car itself looks okay, though the rear end looks like a Mercedes GT 4 door Coupe, but very saggy... That rear end is a deal breaker in my opinion... If you're from Australia or New Zealand, are you getting AU Falcon vibes from this rear end? I definitely am...

I have just moved into Kia's world, I did look at many Hyundai cars too because they have some really great models these days. This EV definitely does look classy, I would buy one if I had the money.

Just so you know Matt, in Hong Kong, there was a low flying plane hit the car on a bridge, so the rear light might be useful…..sometimes……

Not sure what Matt is talking about. This doesn't even come close to the concept! The concept was so sleek and nice. The production car looks like an egg.

Maybe it looks better in the flesh, but I'm not sold on it. From the front and front 3/4 view it looks mostly like a Citroen DS. But the back droops away too much and the front is pretty snoozy. It's a 5/10 for me.

Can anyone explain the how cameras are an improvement over regular mirrors? If you can record with the cameras and use them as side angle dash cameras as well, I'm totally on board for that, but as far as just changing the way the image is displayed, it seems like it just eats up electricity and is a glitch waiting to happen.

I have never been excited about electric cars solely for the lack of sound. But this car really warms me up just by the way it looks. To me, it looks better than the concept, and I would take it over the Taycan, Tesla, or Audi Etron for a daily driver....just for the way it looks.

@@WhatsThatsmell69 True for rear slope down but its more of a 4 door vw bug than a 4 door coupe because of the crazy short overhangs and short hood.

The only thing I dislike about this car is the camera mirrors. I get that using cameras instead of mirrors you get better aerodinamics - which this car is built for, but the truth of the fact is that cameras cannot give the same level of functionality as a mirror. What I mean is that with a mirror, what you see in them changes as you move your head around. With cameras you are stuck with whatever it captures. If they get dirty you won't see anything and cleaning them needs to be very thorough to have a good level of clarity.

Better looking than the eqs, is a very low bar. The eqs is a blob, compared to the awesome concept car design of the eqs.

I've been driving Hyundai or Kia products since 2002, starting with an Accent. In fact, #7 is my GTLINE EV6 sitting beside my Telluride in the driveway. Now I have to pre-order #8 in the form of an Ioniq6.

Like a Merc CLS mk1 that has been front and rear ended. Needs a good stretch.

I'd love to see an N variant!

I initially thought the same of the model S and X refresh, but after owning the S for a few months I really appreciate the clean and simplistic look now. No clutter at all...anywhere. It's exactly like going from smart phones with buttons and keyboard to no buttons. It's so much more aesthetically pleasing. Didn't like the stalkless yoke at first either, but now I don't think I ever want to go back to a round wheel with stalks. The dash is completely unobstructed without random sticks sticking out of the column.

@@vladen14 voice commands can quite literally be programmed to do everything without so much as moving a finger....oh, and guess what? I can set a destination and it drives itself there while you'll still be busy gas-brake- dipping. What's trash is your unevolved brain.

I do a 230 mile round trip regularly in my model 3 and it usually has about 45 miles left over.

I'm not sure whether it's that good looking. Side and back kinda work, but the front gives me 1st gen Prius vibes. It isn't terrible looking, it's just bland and dated. If there is a Tesla killer comming up that would be Nio with ET5 and ET7 (respectively competitors to Tesla Model 3 and S)

I totally agree. Tesla looks dated and this front doesnt look much different. Side and rear almost good but I think the rear slopes down too much. Ioniq 5 is different and something new but this really isnt. Only ”cool” exterior feature are those rear lights. But its nice to have variety and its cool they are distinctive. But not my kind of cool.

Ioniq 5, Unique and quite a strong design, this reminds me of a 90s Infiniti J3, front and back. It’s like someone lifted the design

The concept looked like a Porsche, the production Ioniq6 looks more like a 4 door Citreon from the 1960s - only that the Citreon's looked better. Sorry a Fail from me on this production interpretation of a cool concept.

It looks great, no doubt about it. I'm just not a fan of the "wing" mirrors, I'd prefer them to be conventional or just go all out like the Honda e, which would help with drag

at least in the U.S. market, we're getting standard mirrors. they haven't overcome the regulatory hurdles of removing mirrors here

Yes that’s a fantastic car but they aren’t ramping at anything like the pace needed so almost impossible to get it in Australia at least

Somehow it looks like a stretched Beetle to me.

I liked hyundai ionic 5.. but m the only one struggling to find beauty in this one🤔

One got to understand Hyundai and Kia have their aesthetic design team in/from Europe for the last two decades at least. This model brings us back to one of their earlier Sonata design queue.

I really like this one! I driving the classic Ioniq, this could be my next Ioniq!

Can’t imagine a person thinking “hmm, what do I want of my car’s interior? Recycled fishing nets, veg oil, and whatever garbage manufacturers used to save their costs!” No! I don’t care! I want to hear “it reduces my car’s price but still as good as dead animal skin.

Looks very.... 90's to me. Best view I would say is the sloping rear. front bumper not as integrated as id like, makes it look kind of like an added kit.

Beautiful! porsche panamera front, old 911 rear, and side give me EQS vibe.

Hyundai is absolutely killing it right now. As a single guy who loved the Ioniq 5 but didn't need that much car, I'm thrilled that we're getting something smaller next.

The back and front of the car looks amazing but iam not a big fan of the sides with the curved windowline I would prefer it to be straight and the car to be slightly wider with the interior space remaining the same which will make the car look a bit more cooler

They have got to up their software game though. Ioniq 5/EV6 don’t even have a true route planner built into the nav. It’s just a slightly reskinned version of their corporate ICE-designed infotainment system.

If the Ioniq 6 looks this good, I cannot wait for the Kia version to be the coolest looking car ever created. The first image that pops into my head is the Lexus Coupe and Sedan EV concepts, but consumer car

I think that part was click bait...this car is not at all in the league of a Model S. Tesla's tech is still 10-15 years ahead of this, and production will prove challenging for Hyundai at the proposed pricing.

Kind of looks like a 90's porsche panamera (if there was!!!)

See the Mercedes CLS from 2006! It’s like the brother

Considering its made for low air resistance(?) it does not look bad, takes a little time to get used too, but there are some nice lines.

I think the Ioniq 6 looks very nice but I am not accepting of any car that gets less range than my 2018 Tesla Model 3. Frankly I feel like I am driving a concept car every day. I remember all the fantasy and concept cars of the 70s and 80s... and now I have one. Finally no other manufacturer has demonstrated the use of OTA to keep cars current with updates and new features.

Looks like a CLS in the back and a bit like a Porsche at the front. Ioniq5 looks better imo

Interesting design. The side profile reminds me of the 2010 Mercedes CLS and the tail lights remind me of the old Infiniti J30 sedans from the 90s.

The exterior looks more like an early 2000s car with strange add ons

Why is the front end the same front end from a 2003 Tiburon?

From the A pillar back this sedan looks like that Buick Riviera’s of the late 1950’s a really gorgeous

Had they kept more of the exact prophecy look I would've been excited. I think they changed the sports car coupe look the concept had. I'm a 4 time Hyundai owner and was really looking foward to the prophecy. Now I think I'll wait to see what they do with the Sonata.

Wow, the performance is underwhelming, except for the top trim. Would the car hold up to the peak power option with such a large power range between models? We have a Kia Forte and all parts on it are pretty flimsy and too many systems are failing early (about half of normal lifetime), even the paint... Almost nothing is strong and solid compared to other cars I've had..
