The sponsons seem to be doing different things to each other..seems the blue print job on the old hull fixed it..hows the levels/dips underneath on the new hull?? Great video.. that Hydra running all that weight just on the prop when the whole kit it out of the water is just insane!!👍🏻

    Rig some feeler gauges to slip inbetween the ruler and tip of trim tab. adjust turnbuckle till the gap closes, use the same gauge on the other side. No guessing on height or adjustment that way. Should be dead even,,for a baseline or whatever. fender washers make good feeler gauges. Can even get different thickness parallel ground washers,,for more precision.

  • @jmscard

    looks good, FYI you should have a larger gap between your prop hub and the strut as I see literally no gap (yikes). In use under load the flexshaft "shrinks". Under load the shrinking will cause binding. Your temp issue could be from the motor working excessively hard under load as the prop hub is rubbing on the strut. Rule of thumb is always leave a gap the width of the flexshaft to allow for the flex shrinkage under load. so 1/4" flex meanes 1/4" gap should be left.

  • @IRONCLADRC

    @IRONCLADRC

    Жыл бұрын

    I would think there isn't that much constriction on a 1/4 HD flex cable so I don't leave that much gap. .98 .130 4mm .150 cables have a lot of shrinkage. I'm running a 1/4 HD upgraded cable on my bj42. HEAVY-DUTY CABLE.

  • @jmscard

    @jmscard

    Жыл бұрын

    @@IRONCLADRC Totally understand the logic but actually the larger 1/4" flexes do constrict more then the smaller flexes do. Obviously the shorter the flex also the less it can constrict but yours definitely in the vid looks much to close like hardly any gap at all. Just a suggestion as I learned the hard way burning up a $650 Schulze copper board 40/160 esc (holy grail of marine esc's) years ago running to little of gap causing my prop hub to nearly weld to the strut lol. Great Vids btw and happy 2023!

    I would be interested in seeing the same exact prop and electronics set up as on the last runs before it ate itself. Just to see how close you could get the numbers before moding the hull and swapping things. The cardinal rule in speed, if you change more than one thing at a time you really dont know where it went right or wrong.

    Did you have trimtabs on your old bj? I tested today x8s in my mono2 (oxodian) where normally T180 is in. Did gain speed but it wassen't because of esc. Btw, esc ran without any cooling and didn't even get 40'C!!! so t180 will be reinstalled. BUT... the reason i gained speed was... Bending trimtabs up, so they don't work. It was a tip from a racer, he said a boat should run without them unless there is something wrong with c.g./hull/setup for instance.... Good to see bj runs again...

    It depends on which hull your throwing the bigger esc's in. My little 24 blackjack I'm running a 90a esc I've tried a 150 in that boat and the lighter weight esc lower amp rating gives me the best speed. To be honest the only reason I got the HYDRA is to share my experiences, it's a new speed control for the rc boat world theres only a hand full of channels that review rc boat parts and upgrades so I kinda felt obligated.. the speed control has been out for 2 weeks now and unfortunately I'm literally the only guy running the hydra on youtube... I bought the 200 ztw so I can basically compare the 2 speed cotrols and there output and performance.
