When I was organizing my late grandmother's pantry in 2012, I found pancake mix from 1996!! .......Love the new look of your pantry -- it really is so much better; organization-wise, aesthetic, and lighting! I'm sorry to nitpick, but the one thing that is making the eye twitch is that it is spelled "SpagHetti", not "spagetti". ~The more you know~ (with love!!)

My girls helped to clean out and organize their great grandma’s pantry this summer. Oatmeal from 1952 was the oldest item 😂. My 12 year old took photo proof because she didn’t think we’d believe her!

When we cleaned out my grandmother’s pantry we found an unopened box of strawberry jello from 1957! So that means that box moved from Cleveland, OH to White Pine, TN to Centerville, OH!

OH. MY. GOSH. Amanda this is FABULOUS! Wow! It turned out aaaamazing! Honestly, it looks like a professional created this for you. And I’ll add, anything that you cannot reseal 100% you should put in a air-tight container. I have actually gotten Boll weevils from flour through my pantry and into my spices. Even the bags that were rolled tightly at the top and clipped with a chip clip. It was such a mess. I had to throw everything out. And clean the entire pantry and spice cupboard. Now everything is in big glass jars and air tight containers. If I can’t reseal packaging with a “factory seal” I put it in a bug proof container. So now all your flours and sugars and oatmeal and cream of wheat is safe and protected from air and insects. And that’s what we really want! This must feel like a huge weight off your shoulders to get that project out of the way! Now go and relax and enjoy the end result!

And remember - add a shelf above the door! It's wasted space and extra TP or Paper towels can go there!

Amanda, WOW! Just WOW! The pantry looked tiny, now it looks like it holds a ton of food.

This wasn’t in our pantry, but when cleaning out the freezer in our basement last week, I found a frozen bacardi mixer that was best used by 2000! Do I win an award for this? 🤣🤣🤣

When my grandpa passed away in 2013, I helped clean out his apartment. We didn't find any expired dry goods or perishables other than a few spices. These old McCormick tins had to be from the 60s-70s which means they came with Grandma and Grandpa when they moved from the farm to their big house in town and then again when they moved into the apartment!! There was still spices in the tins and it still smelled like what they should, but still I was amazed.

If well cared and kept, spices can last a LONG time, in the ancient times they were actually used to help to extend the meats shelf life in warm regions (such as egypt, india, china, mexico and other parts of the world with desertic/selvatic weather) so that the food could be extended for longer! I remember having a jar of one of my grandma's Black Pepper that was STILL good enough to use even if it had like a good lot of years! Perfectly dry, pack still airtight sealed all the natural oil still inside them (And we are talking a 70's pepper pack) wich was of great help for a LONG while (it lasted us a few months)

Get day light light bulbs it will really brighten your pantry up. Normal light bulbs always leave a yellowish tint. It’s well worth it! Great job you always do so well with any space you makeover ❤️

This was done so creatively with a lot of thought! A lot of pantry organization videos I've seen -- most people take out the wire shelving and do a custom shelving unit throughout the entire pantry which can be very expensive. I love that you took what you already had and just added onto it, and then also refreshed it with paint and new lighting! I also love that your organization bins are all affordable and easy to find as well! Bravo! ❤❤❤

You are the cool mom with the best snacks. I don’t have patience for all those labels but they look amazing.

You can also use Goo-Gone to remove sticker residue

So glad to see a genuine mom, so many pantry makeovers are just reorganising processed food that makes me sick. First time I have seen someone have real ingredients to cook for their family

When you were painting the boys room, I wanted to mention the painting trick, but figured y'all knew it. But yea, the W is to help distribute paint when you go back over so less dipping into more paint.

A few years ago, I helped my mom clean & declutter her kitchen. It’s definitely in my DNA to be super organized but not hers. Lol. I found a spice bottle of cinnamon that expired in 1990, and several bottles of Adams food coloring we used to make different colors of homemade icing for Christmas cookies in the early 1990s when we were kids. I’m 36 now. We had a good laugh and shared some memories.

A sliding door will give you so much more space! Also, it’s crazy what a coat of paint could do to a space! You guys always kill it!

I would add more shelves on the left wall, maybe high up to store additional pantry staples. Kind of a back up for the everyday pantry. Ever since the shortages last year I always think of back up everything. Just a thought.

This crazy life : Your husband did a great job fixing the shelves. Those other shelves r great. How handy is it having a husband that can put up shelves. ( mine used to when he was younger & healthy) your pantry is brilliant.its amazing.

We had helped an elderly neighbor clean out her pantry and she was the type who refused to let go of anything! the oldest thing we found in her pantry was a pack of Hersheys chocolate bars from 1983

Great job! I used those can organizer shelves in one of my houses that had no pantry. I added them in half sections all the way down to the basement on the wall. You could also add a vinyl hanging rack with pockets to the back of your door for things like Jello, soup mixes, extra jars of spices, any packets of things. I also added a basket near the door to throw foods that are about to expire or have recently expired so I see them as soon as I enter the pantry and know to use them up. That way I never have old food or throw things out.

I had my doubts when you showed the light. Afterwards everything looked fabulous. The paint brightened up the space. Well done and the new shelves look like they are OG. God bless

Kyle is super handy so he can change out the pantry door to a barn door! That would be so perfect!

🎯TIP: Rub/spread w/ fingers or brush a nice layer of oil ( vegetable, canola ,any oil you don't mind wasting) on any stickers that are on containers, bottles etc . Let it sit hrs or overnight (re brush on oil if not smoothly coming off some stickers are more stubborn than others) Peals right off. Better than scratching your containers with the ruff part of the sponge. Especially not your beautiful acrylics

Hey Amanda 😄 love the pantry makeover. Home Depot and other stores carry “daylight” light bulbs 💡 and they have more of a brighter light instead of the yellow tones. I totally plan to get the can organizer, such a great idea !!

I absolutely hate those blue based lights! The yellow/warmer tones are so much more cozy and eye friendly. Blue lights are too too harsh!

If you get a Daylight led light bulb you will see a huge change in the color in your pantry... it will brighten up instantly... you two did a great job, it looks fantastic !!

The pantry is gorgeous. The paint and lighting really made all the difference.

Everything looks amazing and I'm happy you got the paint out of your hair😱👍😂. For sanitary reasons, don't cut the directions and place inside the food containers (we don't know where they've been or what touched it). 🙏👍😊

When my mother passed away in 2004 we found food in her cupboards that was so old there were NO expiration dates on them. God alone knows how long she'd had the stuff. The oldest thing in MY cupboard is actually locked in a lock box on the top shelf over the refrigerator. It's a bottle of medication for nausea from 1899. Never opened. I'm sure to a collector it's worth a lot but to ME it's priceless because my great grandmother bought it when she was pregnant the first time - we know when it was created and bottled because my great aunt was born in February of 1900.

Love watching your transformations and they also help motivate me to re-organize my areas. 😍❤️

When I did my pantry remodel last year, we found food way in the back of the deep, dark cupboard that was 10 yrs expired AND DIDN’T BELONG TO US!! It was the previous owners food! 🤮 I love my open shelving now! I can see everything, find everything, reorganize quickly! I love it!

An absolutely fabulous makeover, Amanda & Kyle!! Beautiful & inspiring, to say the least. Thank you so much for sharing the process. I love those air-tight containers. EXCELLENT JOB! (FYI: That angled 2" brush you used was my favorite kind of brush when I was redoing things in my homes--years ago. It did a perfect, precise job of it. And, I have one of those wire wall racks, but am still trying to decide where to put it.) I'm looking forward to your next project. :-D

I cleaned out my grandmas refrigerator one time and she had some sort of yeast or something that expired in 1995 and she had never used it.. it was a battle to get her to throw it out 😅

I really like how any shade of white paint can liven a room and make it look more spacious. The first colour definitiely wasn't it and the additional shelves and can organizers made your pantry look so much better and functional. Also, the organization you've done is amazing.👏👏👏

Instead of using expensive essential oil, just soak a cotton pad in some cooking oil and saturate the sticker residu and it wipes right off

Also essential oils not great on acrylic containers, it ruined mine!

I was once reorganizing my pantry yrs ago & found a condensed milk that was about 10 yrs old which got pushed into a corner 😵 Well to put the can into the recycling I had to open & pour out. The minute the can opener but the can, it exploded all over my kitchen ceiling & ME. 😱 It was orange & stunk sooo bad. My hubby cleaned the kitchen & I ran into the shower!!!😲😂

I literally went “yes!” When this popped up on my notifications 😂🙌🏻 I’m so excited for this video! When my husband and I moved into our current house we just boxed up all the food from our pantry and unloaded it here. When I finally got around to organizing and checking dates I found a can of soup that had expired in 2004… this was in 2019 and we had only moved in together fall of 2015 just prior to our wedding 😂 so apparently it came with us from one of our parent’s houses! We were cracking up!

At my grandmother’s house, I found pudding that expired in 1982- my husband was born in 1983!!
