This has become one of my favorite channels over the last year or so since subscribing. I really enjoy content about systems of all types (plumbing, electrical, etc) and wells hit all those things. What brought me here originally was that when we bought our current house in 2020, it was serviced by a well (in town). Our entire neighborhood was put on city water service back in the 80s, but the old lady who lived here decided not to hook up. The neighborhood is still without sewer service, so we are surrounded by about 100 septic fields and not knowing the condition of the ground water, we decided to hook onto city water about 18mos ago. The contractor agreed to not totally decommission our well and just left it unhooked. It now serves an outdoor water hose circuit only so we can water grass and plants on our 3/4 acre lot without paying the water utility. Thanks for the great content. Love it!

I’m surprised that you didn’t put a few inches of sand in the bottom of the trench prior to laying in the pipe to minimize the possibility that uneven pressure could result in a water leak. Also, those are nice looking homes with what appears to be big backyards. Do you leave a map with the homeowner so they know not to dig their new pool across their water line? Aside from those minor things, I love the videos. We purchased a property in Idaho that has a 50 year old well. We replaced the pump with one that was similar to what was taken out, aka, it is not submerged. We’ve had issues with cycling and pressure and your videos are very helpful in pointng us where to look. Thanks!

One of my friends had a well put in , he requested it be more then 125’ ( crappy water ) . They hit water at 130 ‘ and stopped , nothing but cloudy water . He has to change his filter every month . Now he requested the guy come back and go deeper

Back filling the trench with all dirt is frowned upon here in Europe, it wouldn't pass code. You have to put at least a foot of pea shingle around the pipe first then let the inspector see, once passed you put wide blue tape on top of the shingle then back fill with dirt which helps with identifying the pipe later on. Also, domestic water pipe & fittings here have to be solid blue and the electric cable would need to be inside flexible conduit. People moan about the spiralling costs but it's all the regulation.

Not sure where you live but in the South of England where I live, Southern Waters advice according to their fact sheet is that a new water pipe only has to be laid in soft soil or sand. Also their advice is that if possible it should be one length of pipe from the meter to the shut off valve, if you have a connection it has to be visible so that it can be inspected regularly.

A little trick for stopping the clay from sticking in the bucket. Before you start digging spray the inside of the bucket with ceramic car coating. this will be slick enough to let the clay drop out. This is cheap and effective. This also works on blades for awhile and even if you need to re-spray it is easier. good job as always!

Your comment about the leaking water line reminded of conversations I've had with several coworkers, hearing their horror stories of chasing water leaks over long runs. So I took a different approach. My homd site is 60 feet higher than the well and about 300 feet away. So I've buried 2 inch pvc piping from the well house to the home site and ran 1 1/4 inch black poly inside the pvc. The pvc is connected to my well house drain that drops into a drainage ditch. If I suspect a water leak, I can verify by inspecting the well house drain. If I do have a leak, I can disconnect from the house, pull the entire linen and either repair or replace the poly line. A little extra time and effort now will save me a lot of time and trouble later. I've learned a lot from your vids. Keep up the good work!👍🤠👍

I have a helpful trick for you. When you dig…. Keep one side of the ditch clean…. Preferably the side that’s easier to get too with the blade. Push it back in with the blade… then run the track down the ditch.. no need to wait for rain. It won’t settle. It works in Maine… Hope it works for you.

I have spent a few days on the other side of the lake from Clarksville enjoying the doves in the WMA there. I had no idea you were from my "area" until you made me look with the Virginia comment. That's cool. The service call, I noticed on the pressure switch you had the red line reversed with the outgoing load wire; line in goes to the outside terminals, load out on the inside terminals; honestly, it doesn't really matter with that type of switch as long as you maintain uniformity, but I would switch it back when you install the new bladder tank. Thanks for the videos, I have enjoyed them.

Do you flow test and do a drawdown test to determine the pump set depth each time? Or do you go based on the estimate while drilling/developing + static level to determine set depth? Where we are, nearly every well has a high SWL and most people end up just sticking the pump 20' off of the bottom, but I've got to imagine there is a better way.

Some states are now requiring PEX to be used as the water supply line from the well or water main to the building, especially if there is the possibility of ground movement, and have outlawed PVC and CPVC from being used because of the possibility of supply line breakage. My house in Oklahoma when the city replaces the supply line from the main to the meter that used PEX only now to prevent line breakage and contamination of the water system. In Europe they are using a form of PEX Called IFAN PEX AL PEX , which compression fittings are used or heat fused fittings, like is used on poly natural gas lines. My apartment in Ukraine is plumbed with this type of water line and the pipe is very durable and does not burst if frozen.

Thumbs up! Your videos are great. The only thing that I've noticed is that many of your videos in the truck are the mirror image, You're sitting on the wrong side and the lettering on your hat is backward. That is about all the negative I can come up with. You have added immensely to my understanding of well and pump work. Growing up, I knew a father and son that drove wells and set jet pumps so I was not totally unfamiliar with process. Where I live now, I know a number of people that drill wells and have observed the process. Please keep on doing what you are doing and maintain your commitment to quality work. Quality used to be normal. Hopefully it will catch on again, especially if people start expecting it and are willing to pay the freight.

Thanks for your videos, I have learned or confirmed what I have done. Not sure, heard VA, seemed like the pipe was not very deep, bad camera angle, I have pot the no less then 3 feet. I have yet to use pvc, always used polyethylene. With so many 90 degree angles in your supply lines, that does not hurt your pressure/volume? You do not use pitless adapters? I try to keep everything underground... Thanks again.

Thank you for the content. Those new Goodman outside units are called air conditioning condensers and compressor units. They do not handle air. The matching “air handler”units are installed indoors in the crawl space, attic or closet where they attach to the ductwork. In 2024 isn’t there a variable pressure pump that replaces old fashioned pressure tank systems? I am trying to plan a system for my new well that eliminates pressure tank system. I am going from well to sedimentary trap to underground cisterns to a pump that feeds the buildings water supply and I need the pump to be automatically adjusted for water pressure depending upon demand. I just not sure what they are called ? Do you know?

Dummy On tightening the well head bolt retainters. 1 Put on top a fiber lock nut or 2 Vise grip the ends of the threads Prevents anyone from ever removing the nuts completely. Why? Home owners or renters or family kids will not know WTF is dropping into the well when they remove those nuts to inspect the well So Lock Nut is not as secure as a vice grip the thread ends Thus stopping nut removal. Now Some innovated kids or moms or dads can still remove the nuts but it makes it real real hard for them to F)(*k it up.
