We adopted a 2 year old cattle dog mix from our pound, she looked SO sad and scared with all the noise of the kennel dogs barking. I always want to cry remembering when I first saw her. When we got her home that night she slept SO HARD. Probably the first quiet night she had in months. Now 3 years later she's happy, lazy, and LOVES to lay in the sun. ALWAYS ADOPT! The pounds get full from people buying $1,000+ dogs at the mall then not wanting them...its so sad

Too cute! Happy seemed a little calm with Dr Judd. Poor little guy. He's just cranky because he didn't like his first two names. I love all your new dogs but I especially love the little Rat Terrier mommy. I had 2 rattie rescues of my own and fostered over 3 dozen others. They are great dogs!

Opal really seems similar to my beloved (b) rat terrier, Aednat. She was a great momma, too (She's currently almost 16, and snoozing on my lap.) She's my "just meant to be" rescue. Followed my sister home, and my BIL asked if I wanted her. 3 months of actively looking for her owner, she was mine. Been mine since she was 3. 💕

Shelter in hays county texas also full or over capacity most of the time lately. My border collie girl was adopted from there in 2005 and she passed this January. She would have been 18 years old in the fall. Border collies are amazing dogs. Heidi

The Winnipeg Animal Service in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada has a "Doggie Date" program. People can sign up to take a shelter dog out for the day or over a weekend. The dogs wear an "adopt me" coat and people are encouraged to take the dogs to parks and shopping malls if allowed. It is a very popular program.

Name your border collie Gen. Like a Genie in a bottle.

Border Collies have a genetic predisposition to chase anything that moves. Knowing this, owners need to take great care to keep their dogs away from traffic. My Grandmother's BC finally got hit by a car and killed - and they lived on a rural road that only got a couple of cars per day. In the 70's, while in college, I'd drive a rural road from home to College. Nearly every day, a BC would run out into traffic to chase my car. Every day I would swerve to avoid hitting it. One day I didn't swerve quick enough and could feel the stupid dog bounce repeatedly up & down under my car. Fast forward a couple of months & the dog mended enough to be able to hobble out into the roadway. I swerved to avoid it, but that day there was another car behind me & they nailed it. Never saw that dog ever again. Moral of the story: If you care for your Border Collies, don't be stupid - keep them home safe and away from the road.

Why are the sibling puppies kept separately? Wouldn't they be much happier playing together ? KJT.

Do we know what Ruxpin’s breed is? I have a dog that looks just like him (same eyes, coat, everything) and I’d love to know her breed

OK I'm a critter person in general but to be honest cats aren't my favourite - but how can anyone not love the Bee Bop babies???

Our family is in New Braunfels and we’re in LA. My son has health issues and PTSD. I want to get him a service/ emotional needs pet but can’t afford the $20 k. Do you know of any organizations that could help ?
