If you're in the comments before the 12 minute mark, I'll make it clear to everyone on what happened to Harvest Moon. In 2014, Natsume and Marvelous Interactive split. Natsume were the ones who localized the Bokujo Monogatari games, while Marvelous Interactive produced them. Tired of the poor quality that Natsume were doing, Marvelous interactive in 2014 chose to partner with XSeed for future localizations. However, since Natsume still owns the rights to the name of "Harvest Moon", Marvelous changed the name to the international name of "Story of Seasons". *TLDR:* Harvest Moon now goes under the series known as "Story of Seasons" and "Harvest Moon" games after 2014 aren't by the same people.

My comparison would be warrior cats ‘untold tales’ yes, it’s warrior cats. It was repeative sprites, not much too do, and is honestly pretty boring but I can still enjoy it, but this game I can’t even touch it because of the price and the quality. The untold tales would be free, so that’s what light of hope should be. The titles correct, it’s the light of hope that these games will get better

Lolz I have seen many Harvest moon game made with rpg maker. This is just borderline laziness.

As someone who did buy Stardew Valley twice (PC and Switch) I can confirm that two Stardews is faaaaar more worth it than $30 for this.

Reminds me, when I was younger and disk drive were just starting to get big (early 90s) so cereal companies would put a free pc CD inside the cereal box. Usually, the games were cheap and bad quality. 9 out of 10 times the games were crap. This is one of those games.

I argue that the one "good" features everyone notes (the auto-tool) is NOT good. It's just another form of lazy developing, they couldn't even be arsed to put in actual tools with different functions. And reduces gameplay to 'mindlessly click until win'. And I notice things like...everyone accidentally chopping trees and accidentally tilling ground when they're trying to do something else. Which prevents aesthetic farming.....if you can call these graphics aesthetic.

I feel the need to make an IGN wiki for this game and have it just say "Don't buy this"

I just bought this game. But before doing so, I googled how to refund games on steam.. And after playing for like 90 minutes, I refunded it. I 'm not a fan of refunds on steam, but I just had to see this mess for myself. To be honest: This game could be a kind of okay port for mobile phones. Everyhing needed is already there: You can play this game just by touching and tapping! All kind of controls are overly simplified: Watering crops, planting stuff, chopping down trees... One tap for everything, no need to equip tools or something. And the graphics are so horrible, even my reeeally old phone should be able to handle it. :,D But then again: Who would pay 30$ for a MOBILE game? And so Natsume released it for PC instead. It's a mobile game trough and trough and that shows. Oh boy, does that show... Check it out for yourself, but don't forget to refund it. Natsume should NOT be able to earn 30$ with this piece of sh*t..

This makes me tempted to crank out the old rpgmaker and make something infinitely better in a week.

That's why *Story of Seasons* Friends of Mineral Time is very close to my heart.

"It's a wii like" Harvest Moon: Animal Parade, Tree of Tranquility, Magical Melody, Rune Factory: Frontier, and RF: Tides of Destiny were all on the Wii. None of those games felt as lazy as this. Also, may I point out that the main character's head doesn't bob as they run? Absolute. Incompetence.

Most mobile games on the Google play store are around £3/£4 and I still think that'd too much for this game...

Cutscenes were a magical rare thing you had to work for in the original games ,they made us excited and go through a range of different emotions, making them so often and meaningless takes away that magical special aspect of them... completely takes away there value

Wow, that was bad. I just found out that 150lbs. of cow manure is cheaper than the $30 price tag on this... if you don't buy the expensive stuff.

Fun fact: the character models are from the 3DS game Harvest Moon The Lost Valley I at least expected them to create original characters for the new game... Edit: Well a few characters are new... I guess

Don't like fighting shit, either. Story of Seasons is doing just fine, they aren't tanking just because you aren't playing it. Hell, I'm in very active discords for HM: ANB, which is six years old now, and SoS: 3oT. I feel, as many others, that SDV doesn't have the same heart as a Bokujou game. It's a fantastic game and all, but there are different pros to each series. So I don't think your comment makes much sense.

Dont play new harvest moon. The developers of the old games split. The harvest moon titles have changed recently. The new real harvest moon is called Story of seasons. Harvest moon titles sucked after natsume split and took the name. Any pre 2010 harvest moon was way better. But the new story of seasons games have tons of content and are really what stardew valley is based off of. But I agree that game you are playing really is a dumpsterfire.

You wanna know the worst part? This is the fourth game that Natsume made without Marvelous. I can't believe they're still trying the same old formula that is clearly not working. And it's always the same complaints for every game, and that's the reason why I haven't bothered buying any of these despite growing up with and having a huge fondness for the series. They don't have the soul of the other games, they're just going for money. TL;DR: I'm a college sophomore in game programming and I could do better than this

Game is overpriced and the gameplay is not great. Definitely should buy Stardew Valley if you are looking for a game like this, especially once multiplayer comes out!

Stardew valley was made by one person (mostly) and it looks way better, has better music, better presentation and just makes you feel happy.

6 DLCs are comming for 10 to 25 dollars including one for color of your shirt (10 dollars) and some more for unlocking new places etc. Do not hesitate and embrace this glorious game for 150 dollars with all DLCs!

After watching this I feel like this game would still be shit as a free game but at least you wouldnt have to pay money for it and you could just play it for the sake of doing the story and whatnot, as a 30 dollar game its a dumpster fire and your money would be better spent on anything else. Also 100% agree on the cutscenes, I'm only watching someone else play this and I can tell it embodies everything I hate about overdone tutorials

The real question is, who on earth play tested this and said it was great? Did they have someone play test it? Was it someone in their target market (assuming they realized the target market was those who bought Stardew valley or other hit simulators recently)?

This one is seriously bad. But I am digging your commentary tone on this so much. This is awesome.

You would think they were following the farming genre pretty well and knew what was out there and at what prices, yet they release what looks like an early smartphone game.

A little background info for people who don't know: older harvest moon games and current games with the name harvest moon are two different series. The company had a sort of split (not best way to describe) and the games known as bokujou monogatari (or what in US was harvest moon) are now called Story of Seasons in US. I think this started back in '07 or '09. Play Story of Seasons if you're a fan of the older GC/PS2/GBA/DS and earlier harvest moon games. Marvelous didn't get to keep rights to the Harvest Moon name. So they had to change the name for US releases.

Someone should do some massive mod for this game where it overhauls it to where you can murder the characters. Like go from boring farm game to when you get annoyed you can toss the tiny sprite in the well.

I'm here to inform the masses that there's a new harvest moon game by the original developers 'marvelous' and NOT Natsume called Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town, a remake of the original Friends of Mineral Town and it's actually good

I was INCREDIBLY disappointed when I saw the preview of this game on their Facebook page. I previously brought Harvest Moon: The Lost Valley and Harvest Moon: Skytree Village and they BOTH sucked. I haven't even finished TLV and I beat Skytree in less than a day! I was hoping that they'd bring new main and supporting characters or at least some new customization but yeah, this sucks eggs. I'm staying with Story of Seasons.

I legit follow the series as HM is my childhood fav (And the Sims which I STILL play even when EA hates us) and I'm literally just now aware Skytree even existed. That's how bad the state of HM is.

I got this game from a friend who got it for himself but was so disappointed with it he gave it away. I'm so glad I didn't pay for this. I did finish the main storyline (quarantine, don't judge me) and uh, yeah. It remains that cutscene heavy forever. There's even more cutscenes you can unlock as you befriend people. Also you apparently can marry that gem creature that you hatch and raise as your child, so that's... highly questionable and disturbing. Anyway, I completed the main storyline on Fall 1 Year 1. Why was that even possible? It ended with the harvest goddess telling me to get married next and I was like "nah, I'm having commitment issues with this whole experience." 😴

I feel like this game was made during a game jam over the course of a weekend.

The characters look like they ripped the designs directly from the Skytree Village HM game. Literally, same character designs. And the back ground is clearly for a 2D older game. What the hell.

Everyone is talking about how expensive it is. To me it looks so bad that I am not even willing to invest time in it even if it were free! What a swindle!

I was so hopeful for this, really wanted it to be good. Didn't expect it to be, but I hoped... thanks for telling me just how much I don't want this. Maybe when it's 95% off... or free. Thank god for Story of Seasons, Stardew Valley, Portia... etc.

This is so depressing. I love the old Harvest Moon games so much. Magical Melody was the first one I played. It was not the greatest game, but I still hold the game close to my heart. I'm definitely going to try the Story of Seasons games now because this is just horrible.

I know this was posted a year ago but story of seasons is made by the same developer who made harvest moon natsume are the publishers they own the name harvest moon not the games. So when the developers left natsume natsume then used the trademark name harvestmoon In order to milk money out of Marvelous's franchise to the blissfully ignorant public. Meanwhile since marvelous doesn't own the name harvestmoon they changed it to the origenal Japanese title story of seasons. In other words story of seasons= harvest moon and natsume's harvestmoon is trying to copy story of seasons and failing miserably. Ironic

My bodily immune system decomposed my eyes from the sheer cellular pain and harmful danger of looking at this disaster, looking at this was SO detrimental on my health that my body did what it can to activate its systems of self preservation and take out any of my senses that was experiencing this so that the rest of my organs isnt at risk of necrotic withering.

At 7:15 That house is totally from the N64 days.

I wish a video like this had been around back when I bought Harvest Moon: The Lost Valley. That game starts you off in winter with practically no NPCs, but other than that, it's practically the same game as this. And I paid full price. One of the worst purchases I ever made for the 3ds.

I bought the complete version for $15 in the discount bin. Not too bad for $15 I have played worse. I always love your tales on these games DF.

And DF keeps mentioning that ppl who have more hrs of gameplay have better reviews well there's something to be said for a game that doesn't take 2+ hrs to get enjoyable.
