The days of the long hot slog from the ice to the gondola are over! The Mer de Glace has a new lift! Well anybody who has got there has already paid for a lift pass one way or another... So no not really!
Be funny if the glacier now starts growing.

No way it’s going to grow. When I skied it in the 1980s it was just a few steps to the Mer de Glace train station. In the early 1990s we had to walk up a ladder after our alpine school. After that they built a lift. And now a cable car?? It’s not very promising.
And I will so much *not* miss the ladders😂

I am pretty sure the ladders are still there and they plan to reopen them once construction is finished on the gondola. You need a way up off the glacier out if hours!

@@chamonixskibum Oh, I am sure they will be back, but I will plan my routes in such a way as to being able to avoid them.
