Take a raptor to the glamis dunes, or Ocotillo wells, and you will understand why they didn't have to.

I like the headlight on the 2nd but I love the 3rd gen grille looks way better but both look good that coil suspension is awesome

There is just something off about the Gen III Raptor and I can't quite call it. Maybe Gen II just spoiled the truck world so much. But it still looks so boss. Like, it looks like IT should be the new upgrade, not the Gen 3. I appreciate the interior enhancements, but even those didn't go far enough. I wouldn't upgrade if I had a Gen 2.

Went to the dealer today with my 2019 Gen 2 to see this Gen 3 in person and decide whether im trading in or not. And I have to say, I just wasn’t nearly as impressed seeing the Gen 3 in person as I was when I saw (and purchased) the Gen 2. Granted driving a Raptor for the past two years has a lot to do with that as we get used to it somewhat. Idk. The front end of the Gen 3 is certainly not as impressive as it’s predecessor. It lost that wide aggressive “grin” and, with the black accents around the headlights and grill, actually looks almost like a regular F150 from the front. Yes, the gauge cluster and center screen are much nicer. The truck shifter also gets an erection when you turn it on (ha). But I just don’t see the tweeks Ford made enough of a reason to trade (yet). I may very well change my mind if and when the v8 comes out although I love the eco boost. They did however remind me how much equity our trucks have. My 2019 has 41k miles and has every option less Recaro Seats and they offered me 65k to trade. Anywho… thanks for the video . Keep at it 🤙🏻

Yeah I live in Utah and all the gen 3s are over a hundred grand which is ridiculous lol they are selling them for 20 and even 30k over MSRP. I just bought a 2020 raptor for about 70k… even the gen 2s go for 60 to 80k easily

The gen3 will be a hell of a deal in 3 years for sure 👌

Good video Ben. The more comparison vids I see, the more I’m thinking of keeping my 2017 Gen 2 w/40k miles a bit longer.

Lowest I’ve heard is 10k over msrp

I just bought a 2020 Gen 2 with supercab, last year they were made, such a shame!!!!! 4,600 miles only couldn't pass it up. 802a, carbon, ricaro, everything except sunroof. I had a 2022 lined up but crew cab and 35k more. There all nice but supercab is so much better unless you need to haul people around.

Good review. It would be nice to drive the trucks and give a review after driving both of them. Just my opinion!

I remember when they released the 3rd Gen raptor everyone in the comment section absolutely blasted me for saying the 2nd Gen looked better 😂 i guess everyone finally accepted the reality that 2nd Gen Raptor looks better

I like how ford made the gen3 with the grill being connected to the headlights just like the gen1 the gen 2 is nice but I can tell ford was lazy since it looks a lot like a regular f150 with a grill insert

The gen 3 looks better on the exterior and interior, but i think it will look good on the code orange color even better IMO

@@d.d2062 i like what the gen 3 brings but the gen 2 had some really good interior just the new screen on the gen 3 was a nice touch but the carbon fiber in the gen 2 was so nice the exterior the gen 2 headlights had an agressive look the gen 3 not so much but after i got my gen 3 wide bodied it looks so much better now i love both but i wouldnt go back for the gen2 i mean if i traded my gen 3 for anything itd be the raptor r

How about the lights during the night

The exterior received minor tweaks. The real difference between Gen 2 and Gen 3 is under the skin and the new interior. The brand new rear suspension and 4-mode exhaust are big changes. The only complaint I have heard so far is that the new shifter feels el cheapo.

The gen2 shifter feels cheap too lol! I swapped mine out for carbon fiber one just b/c it feels better leaving my hand on it when driving if it gets sweaty etc

Both trucks are so awesome offroad trucks

Gen2 looks blockier/more aggressive, but I really like the new Gen3 interior. That being said I won’t be trading my 2020 in on a Gen3 any time soon.

@@baselqashou5716 lol I’ll imagine it once it’s been out a couple model years & they’ve worked out whatever gremlins that may be buried in this new design. First couple years of a brand new design typical to have more issues than the tail end of a production run for obvious reasons, throw in the fact that these are also built during a pandemic that F’d w/ normal production runs….better be safe than sorry. Also consider this- the gen2 Raptor had some issues in the first couple years as well (cam phasers, leaky plastic oil pan, etc) & w/ that version of the Raptor they waited 2 years into the F150 gens lifecycle before bringing it to market- meaning the “General F150” new design issues would’ve had more time to be ironed out before they debuted the Raptor version, this time they’re essentially offering them @ the same time right off the bat.

I actually don't like the Gen 3 vents. They say they remodeled them after the Raptor jet but they look kinda clunky and cheap. I also prefer the entire front of the gen 2. I dislike that the gen 3 took away the tailgate step. Kind of an odd thing to do when it was a feature. I also prefer the smaller side mirrors on the gen 2. The Gen 3 has amazing interior though. I'm actually really sad that the gen 2 doesn't have the folding shifter. Honestly it's the only thing that I'm ticked about haha. I use my laptop a lot from my vehicle and that's such a cool feature to be able to fold your center console down like a desk when you're parked. I also think it sucks that the raptors from gen 2 had tiny screens... It's kind of an odd thing that everything from the 2017 era had big oled screens but the 80k ford pickup trucks didn't... then 2022 came along and they decided it was time to add it.

Looks 100% goes to the Gen 2 just about everything else goes to the Gen 3. I'm quite disappointed ford didnt upgrade the 3.5 ecoobost for the new generation though.

The coil springs on the gen3 (2021 and up) is a determining factor for me. I’ve heard that is makes a big difference in the ride quality (especially off-road) I’m in the market now looking for a 2021+ raptor. I’m thinking waiting at least next spring and see if I can snag a 2021 model.

@@dougsullivan3564 only reason I’m asking is because when I was in the market for a 2022 Civic sport msrp23k all dealers I looked into were charging a Adjusted Dealer Markup of thousands over sticker. And I came across this dealer that said they do not charge over msrp, went to check out the car. They were charging 23k for the civic plus 1,500 for window tint, plus 3,000 for front bumper and hood protection film, 1,000 mudguards, $500 all season floor mats, and a few more FORCED ADDONS and that 23k bare bones Civic was at 31,000 before tax and title and registration. I was very insulted by that dealer’s scam.

Thankful we unbelievably had an old school military veteran for a salesman who literally told us to walk out because it was a scam. Won’t say the name of the dealership but it’s in Sanford florida.

Dealers only got certain allocations but they still charged over MSRP. If your an influencer they hook you up for marketing purposes and you don't pay MSRP. I will say Tomball Ford will hook you up if you purchase their additional 5k warranty.

For the money I'm sorry but Ford still using way too much hard cheaper plastics with their interiors!!!!Dodge Ram blows ford out of the water in this area as far as the rest of the vehicle I would have to take it off-road would of liked to have seen it's off-roading abilities but overall it's just at way too much money for the average person even for people that are in the market for a racing pickup truck it's a challenge!! Would like to see costs come way down and quality way up overall if I had the money would most likely go with racing version of Dodge Ram sorry Ford but only the best tunas get to be a Ram lol!!!!

Might want to check out the the dodge recalls. There is a reason dodge is the cheapest priced truck.
