    So many more people would start carrying 5.7×28 if there was a compact version, all of the 5.7 pistols out there are a little bit too big to conceal carry, I'd prefer Ruger to come out with a compact 5.7 because I already have the Ruger 5.7 and LC Carbine but if PSA made a compact Rock I would definitely be preordering one

    Only 4.4 for the compact, that's not much of a difference compared to the Rocks standard 4.7 barrel, 4.2 or shorter would be worth buying but 4.4 you'd barely notice the difference

    @@TruthGotGunz I'm not sure how accurate that is. I've seen tests done with 45acp from a 5 to a 3.5 inch barrel and those only lost 50fps on avg. I have my doubts on how accurate those tests are especially with a hot round like 57 and only losing .3 inches. The general rule of thumb for pistols barrels and ammo is 1 inch less of barrel equals roughly 50 less fps. IDK how a .3 inch difference can do 100 let alone 200. Just my 2 cents here... seems whack but I couldn't find that test and also the gun isn't out yet so we have 0 conclusion on the final product.

    @@WormBurnin bro they’re 2 different calibers lol that’s like the 5.56 losing a tremendous amount of fts with a shorter barrel vs a 7.62 dont. I promise my knowledge on the 5.7 is on point. I’m not telling you anything different you won’t see for yourself if you done a velocity test on the M&P and compare it to the Ruger or the FN. 5.7 needs at least a 5 inch barrel. Anything shorter than that you have a souped up .22. These are facts.

    I'm curious as to why PSA doesn't offer a thumb safety variation like all the other 5.7 pistols. I know - I know... We're living in the age of the Glock clones, but even the mighty AR15 has a safety and it's considered to be a "man's" firearm. 🤔. I think a gun that will be shoved into many a draws pressing against countless nut sacks at least deserves a manual safety option.

  • @geoff_tac

    @geoff_tac

    Supply and demand, that's a feature that adds parts and manufacturing complexity. If they are selling their stock without it, it doesn't make business sense to add complexity to something that's already selling.

  • @Buddyluuv214

    @Buddyluuv214

    7 ай бұрын

    @@geoff_tac I understand that added features will produce higher manufacturing costs and increased sales prices, but there is a segment of the population that won't consider these pistols as an option because of the absence of a manual safety. For instance, I would likely already have several PSA pistols if manual safety options were available. Hell, I'd even be willing to pay a little extra for the manual safety option and I know many others that feel the same. It almost seems that it is not "cool" anymore to have a pistol with a manual safety. Many of us are not aspiring to be "cool" and would like for more pistols with a manual safety to be available on the open market. I understand Glock has become the industry standard and it may be hard to believe, but MANY of us are not Glock (or Glock style) fans.

  • @glassmw9823

    @glassmw9823

    7 ай бұрын

    @@Buddyluuv214the segment of the market with people like you that want a manual safety is significantly smaller than the market that doesn’t want the safety. It makes *_literally no business sense_* to make less profit when a large majority are willing to purchase the pistol without the safety. I initially purchased CC pistols with a safety, but I’ve seen and read about the disadvantages, and I’ve since changed my mind and no longer want a safety. Not only this, but any modern, index-style holster covering the trigger essentially serves the purpose a safety originally did before holsters were readily available and standardized, making the safety essentially obsolete, and not only that, but a safety hazard as another step to do/remember in high-stress life or death situations. If you still want a pistol with a safety, by all means design one, and/or design the parts to sell, and you’ll be a wealthy man, if you think there’s a big enough market for a safety on this type of weapon. That’s the wonderful thing about a free-market economy. However, I don’t think the market is there for this.

  • @TradeDrifter

    @TradeDrifter

    7 ай бұрын

    @@glassmw9823 A safety is obsolete until you re-holster and blow your nut off. And please, save the "being careful" excuse. The whole point of an accidental discharge is it being an accident. Btw, a "high stress life or death" situation doesn't end after you defend yourself. You still have to holster while under that stress. Not to mention, as displayed in several YT videos and historical stats, more officers have been killed when not having a safety than those who did when an assailant got their fire arm. Also, it's not a hazard or another step to remember if you train with one sufficiently. It becomes automatic just like everything else train for. What you are really saying is, "I don't want a safety because my mental capacity isn't high enough to train with one." Which means, you'll probably shoot your nut off one day. As for the market, it's certainly been there for the M&P 5.7. The ones with safeties go faster than the ones without.

    How in the world is a 5.7x28 a neutered round? Muzzle velo in the ruger 57 was around 1800-2250. It already pens lvl 3 Kevlar. 9mm is sitting at 1000-1400 fps and can't pen that armor. 57 also dumps it's energy way quicker than a 9mm so it has all of that velo, hits hard upon impact with big expansion pockets but doesn't over penetrate either. In ballistics gel the 57 has bigger pockets than a 9mm and 10mm. A 4.4 barrel opposed to a 4.7 only dips the fps by around 100. Still very fast. It's literally a small rifle round but far from a 22 lr or wmr. On myth busting, the 57 has about 3 times as much ft/lbs energy and almost 2 times the velo compared to a 22 wmr. A 57 round is more similar to a 556 round, especially when shot at bullet proof glass. 9mm or 10mm doesn't even dent the front of it, while 556 and 57 blow bulges out the back with the 57s slightly being smaller. Please do a little research, your IQ is starting to show.
