NEW for 2024! GYEON ECOWASH rinseless wash, is it any good? First look and initial impressions.

Just released in the US, I test the new for 2024 GYEON ECOWASH rinseless wash and also test it when mixed as a drying aid. It has an SiO2 blend and does seem to leave slight protection. I will be testing long term and how well it can deal with typical winter conditions at the end of the year in my Ohio city.

    Absolutely! I usually use Bead Maker or Amplify from Armour Detail, but this is a one stop shop so to speak. Need to wait for rain to see if it retains any protective abilities.

    Another excellent tutorial, I think you may be the first person to demonstrate the new gyeon eco wash on KZread, great attention to detail. It looks a great product, in your experience how does it compare to P and S Absolute?

  • @TheOutdoorDetailer

    @TheOutdoorDetailer

    They're two completely different products IMHO. The absolute is slicker on the dry off to me based on memory unless I used that Ecowash drying aid, in which case the Ecowash was insane crazy slick. Both products wipe very easily when dried on the surface, but the Absolute doesn't leave protection. For me it boils down to what protection you have on your car. If you aren't using a ceramic detailer of another brand then the SiO2 cleaners are great, but too many different products with protection leads to spotting ad streaking over time.

    Great video. Thank you for sharing. I know that Gyeon and Koch Chemie are different since the Eco Wash is SiO2 infused, but if you had to pick one, which one would you choose?

    I've only used both a short time but I am a fan of slickness and slick feel so I would personally choose the Gyeon. Having said that, if you use toppers like beadmaker, then go with KcX as the SiO2 in my experience with the CARPRO Ech2o doesnt seem to play well with other brand toppers. (But I did wash the car since I did the video and the panel didn't seem to have lasting protection that I could tell)

    Thanks for the video, just discovered your channel, so have some catching up to do with older videos. Love to see a long term follow-up for both the rinselesd and drying aid. What kind of drying towel did you use? Looks like a glass towel to me, but looks can be deceiving.

    Good video mate, new subscriber. i would be test with the diy detail sponge being that you can see the dirt being released from the red side of the sponge and that quite an important thing to see how easy dirt is released. And don’t get sucked into having 10 or more sponges and worrying about cross contamination as they are super easy to wash out

  • @TheOutdoorDetailer

    @TheOutdoorDetailer

    You would think it would be easy but that is not the case. I was testing Labocosmetica and there was something on the door panels that literally turned my Legacy sponge black and no APC would touch it. So now I have a black legacy sponge and a new one. Also, I've found that some of the washes don't rinse out as easy as you would think, and it's just easier from a fairness standpoint to always use the same sponge with the same product. End of day, I really don't care how it releases off the sponge, but rather how it removes from the vehicle. Some remove road film better, some pollen better, and some salt better. I believe that I would likely have 4 different washes I would use based on the type of contaminant on the surface and if I wanted some slickness or not.

    Sorry it took so long to respond as there's apparently a different setting to hit to look for replies. Anyway, I had great luck over the winter with Absolute and DIY. People bag on Absolute because other new ones are out there, but it's fantastic on salt, road film, and leave a slick non protected surface like an SiO2 product can leave. If I knew there was a lot of road film built up I would likely hit with an APC first, then use my sprayer with rinseless to flush off the surface and go to the sponge wash.

    Less than a week with normal wash it seems, though that 20:1 drying aid mix is an awesome instant detailer. I get so much fallout but every time it rains so far or I get dew, the water beads right up. If it's anything like the carpro, it will gain more and more slickness and protection as you use it.

    I tested Ech2o when it was much colder outside but it also worked well and seemed to have left protection that built up wash after wash. After the 3rd or 4th wash I noticed some strange behavior with the sponge though. It's a feel and even sound going across the surface that I really can't describe. The Gyeon so far is just slick.

    Big Gyeon fan but putting ceramic sealants in your drying towel ruins it. So I'd be concerned about my drying towel with the rinseless given that they are boasting added SiO2 protection

  • @TheOutdoorDetailer

    Proper microfiber care is needed. Use an ounce or two of MF detergent or the free and clear laundry detergent is 4 gallons of water in a bucket. Drop your used towels in there after use and it will keep any of that ceramic from drying and break it down at the same time. When the bucket gets filled, launder the towels.

    I really like the slick feeling of the Eco Wash, and as a drying aid it makes the towel glide across the surface. I love the SiO2 feel and it does leave a nice looking gloss from what I have seen. However to me the Hero just leaves less on the surface after so that would be my choice. I tried using Idrosave for a while as I bought the big jug and it did not work at all for me, and in fact performed horribly for me. Some say it is one of the best, but on my winter road film, it didn't clean nearly as well as others like DIY Detail and Absolute.

    My apologies for not getting back sooner as I am still learning all the comment functions. Anyway, on wipe and initial feel, the Ecowash mixed as a drying aid is close to the ceramic detailer, but after a day or two the CD remains nice and slick. I will say that even the ceramic detailer never lasted more than 2 weeks for me, and I believe they claimed it was supposed to last longer.
