I went to the new Harry Potter studio tour in Tokyo!
my honest thoughts:
I didn't love it! the actual sets and props are very cool, but it's so crowded inside that you won't be able to see it very well :( I had the last time slot of the day, so that definitely made it worse! if you have an earlier time slot, there are way less people so it might be more enjoyable. there are some interactive areas where you can act like a crowd in a quidditch match, areas to take photos of yourself in the car or Hagrid's motorbike, and also a green screen to film a video of yourself riding a broom! however, they'll all take a while to do and I believe some of them even cost extra money! some of the food items are good, but a lot of them also sold out pretty quickly! I actually got the very last niffler mousse cake that day! I also didn't think the merch items were that special, except for the new headbands! it's definitely not BAD, but I don't know if I would want to spend half a day here if I was on vacation and had limited time, you know?

I'm sorry that you didn't have the best experience, but this was still a great review. I went to the Harry Potter studio tour in London many years ago and it was incredible! There was something pretty breathtaking about being on the actual studio lot and seeing so many original set pieces, props, etc. Tokyo seems to have more immersive/photo op sort of experiences than London did, so I hope they are able to manage the ticket times and crowd flow a bit better in the future!

A bit unfair to compare this to Universal Studios Hollywood…this is more similar to the Harry Potter Studios tour outside of London….if you’re gonna compare the Hogsmeade at Universal Hollywood, compare it to the Hogsmeade section of Universal Studios Japan in Osaka
I love the details of the merch they have. Those detail Sculpture is amazing.

I've never been to a Warner Tour, do they let you walk backwards to a set that you previously visited or once you pass that part of the tour you cant go back ?

hello, thank you for your review and vlog on this place! ive been watching some of your vlog from disneysea and disneyland food guides since they are helpful and im very happy that you review them! 🥰 can i know if you are allowed to browse in the gift shop and food hall outside the tour after you're finished/done with the tour? im thinking to go to the earliest tour so i can have my time to browse in the gift shop after the tour....

thank you for watching!!! yes, you can totally still visit the gift shop after your tour! the tour actually exits into the gift shop :)
Wow you are really good at opening blind boxes with one hand! I was most impressed with that. What was Niffler's lips made of? It looked like tangerine slices. Great video. So much fun! Thanks for sharing.

This is the exact same layout as London. But we don't sell the hairbands. Slight differences here and there but mostly the same

it's pretty quick to go through if you're only interested in looking at the sets and objects on display!! I skipped a lot of the photo ops/activities that had long lines, so it only took me around 2.5 hours! if you want to do the activities like flying on a broom or filming a quidditch scene, it'll easily take over 5 hours!

yes, 5 hours should be enough!! you can go through quicker if you skip some of the photo spots/activities too! my time slot was for 3 pm, but I ended up going in at 3:30!
We are going in august! So, you can arrive ahead of your tour time for shopping and eating?

yes! you can enter the building one hour early to buy merch and eat some food, but you can't enter the actual tour early! you can also still do those things after the tour is over as well! I hope you have a fun time!!!

sorry, I don't remember the exact price, but they were around the 6000 yen range!
kinda disappointed with those bare mannequins, i wonder why they didnt at least paint their faces out🥲 anyway thank you for another on-screen experience!

Maybe they were real costumes used in the movies so the mannequins were more for display than actual character rep?

The Japanese have so high standards that they literally make everything EVEN BETTER than the original. Even the OG studios in London are nowhere near as nice and detailed!
My daughter has been to the Studios Tour outside of London (which actually occupies two of the soundstages at Leavesden Studios where they actually filmed the Harry Potter movies) and she watched this video and said this looks similar, if a bit smaller…also, comparably priced (she paid the equivalent of about $73 to get into the British version of this attraction in 2019 and the price you quoted seems similar, if my knowledge of USD:Yen exchange rates are accurate)
