I think Silver and Blaze are must-haves, but I'd love to see Espio as a Speed type, Whisper as a Fly type, Beat as a speed type. Hmmm maybe Infinite as a Fly type and Mephiles as a Power type? Also I have to say I appreciate the heck out of what you guys are doing, Sonic Riders was the game that got me into Sonic, it's still my favourite racing game so seeing it brought back like this and how much new content is being added to it makes me extremely happy. ☺

@@fandom_jumper Oh yeah, I 100% agree. If I had to pick one over the other I'd defo go with Whisper, but Tangle would be really good to see. I always imagined her as a Speed type but tbh she fits pretty well as a Power type!

Don't forget Vector as Power, Charmy as Fly, Omega as Power, and Big as Power again. But of course we need Silver, Blaze, and Espio. It's not the same without all those characters. Dunno what types Marine and Sticks would fit in best, but hope they also get to come too.

Silver is my favorite Sonic character, but if I'm being honest, the character I want to see the most is Starline from IDW. I think his Tri-core is perfect for riders, as he'd be a jack of all trades and a master of none.

If you have any intention of adding guest characters outside of Sega: Klonoa Literally perfect for this game given that - He looks like a Sonic character so he'd be right at home in Sonic's universe - He literally has a wind-based hover board (Klonoa 2) - He's a namco character so you wouldn't have to worry about copyright issues I'd love to see Blaze and Silver too, but Klonoa's definitely my most wanted for this game

Sonichu getting into the game would actually be the funniest thing I've ever seen. Although I'd like to propose the addition of Dr Starline. He's a dope character.

All of this is absurd, I love it. Thank you very much for your work. For a character I suggest Beat from Jet Set Radio

From the Zero Gravity game, I'd absolutely love to see Silver and Blaze make a return. The two robots from Zero Gravity would be very cool too, though could merge both gameplay wise since one's a Fly type and the other's a Power type. Though they can't use boards I imagine.

I would like the robots too from Zero Gravity. I like the Power Type robot more though because he can jump and grind his wheel shaped body to take sharp turns and if you time it correctly he gets a speed boost. Players with motorcycles can do this also in Zero Gravity

I'd love to see Silver - should be pretty straight forward considering that he's in Zero Gravity. Also Mephiles - his crystalized form is rigged and downloadable on the modelers resource. (If he's too complex tho, an alt skin for shadow that uses his none crystalized form would still be cool).

I'd love to see Emerl as a power type, because the whole 'Battle' thing in 'Sonic Battle' but thematically he fits better as typless and I doubt there would be any plans to add another typless character. Gemerl though

Actually, Emerl wouldn't fit as a power type. He should instead have a gimmick where, every time you hit an opponent with an attack, your type changes to match their default type, and stays that type until you hit someone else. If the character you hit has 2 or more types, Emerl only gets the first one. Also, because of this gimmick, he should start out typeless. This idea fits better because Emerl is a robot that steals opponents attacks and uses them himself. It might be harder to code, though.

That’s a really good idea with a lot of thought, but I don’t know how you would go balancing that, or another typeless character matter of fact. I would assume he would be a slightly worse E-10G but with the potential for a type shortcut? But if someone gets an attack off at the start that would unbalance the odds. Maybe having a tiny hitbox might help, but I don’t know. I’d love to see a shot at another typless character after your suggestion, it makes me feel like the potential is limitless and would also make the CSS have no unused slots unless they move the bottom row. Maybe not a typeless character but a classless one?

The fact that Beat from Jet Set Radio isn’t in Sonic Riders is a crime

Since everyone's already suggested the Sonic or Sega characters I would've said, I'll say Lilac from Freedom Planet could be a cool guest character. Fits in with Sonic and Riders aesthetic fairly well with her first design.

Klonoa would be neat, since he actually has his own board in some of his games, but since he's not actually a Sonic character or even SEGA owned, I'd be happy to see the other Riders characters and maybe tracks added.

Thank you guys for making this game even better. Would love to see which characters would be added later on. One thing that has always bugged me however, is how the CPUs seem to have a very fast QTE in the Dark Desert track. It was a thing in the original SR, and it still is a thing on SR DX. I cannot replicate that speed no matter which angle I enter the QTE. It would be great if you guys could find what truly causes the CPUs to go fast (through game code), but not the player.

Silver’s gotta be in, Please let him get in. He’d be a great fly type and he could get a super form too.

Mighty and Ray would be good picks. Their designs from the Archie Reboot look like they'd slot into Riders easily. Beyond that, Speedy (From Tails Adventures) and Sticks would be fun as well. Sticks' board could be made out of wood and look like something Kids Next Door would have built.

I'd definitely pitch a vote for the following top 5 of mine. -Marine -Shade -Whisper -Tangle -Fang/Nack Though if I had to pick one, it'd be Whisper.

I would like to request for Cosmo the Seedrian as a pure flying type

One character or team I would like to see is Sally acorn for speed , Nicole for flight and bunnie for power. Sally already has an extreme gear so it be great to see her. And maybe give chips whirst band as a whip from Sonic omens but as an attack. Rally for Sally or TEAM FREEDOM.

Ever heard of air gear? The art style and general theme and vibe is close to sonic riders. It's an manga series where they use electric skates to harass the power of air to boost them so much they can almost fly with them. Just thought to recommend checking it out, especially if you like this vibe.

Yo thank you so much for tweaking the stage geometry, the game's gonna be more fun than frustrating now and that's exactly what we're looking for. Hope you guys do great for SAGE!

I've been advocating for Starline this whole time, but after seeing this? I gotta say, Pepsiman is a must.

Damn, this is sick. Beginning to hit Smash Brawl levels of modding here, haven't touched riders in a hot minute but with Project Riders from Cha0s and this, It's wild to still see riders growing and powering up even into 2022. Once this comes out of the infancy stages of these tools I wouldn't be surprised to see ports of some ZG maps and more to come. Also Blaze, Honey and Klonoa please and thank you.

Tbh Replacing like Gum or Kiryu with a Puyo Puyo character or Reala is great too. These are the few that i'm not sure who to put for their typing tbh maybe even a persona or bayo character.

Two absolutely insane wild card characters that would fit the SEGA theme would be ToeJam and Earl. Earl is an easy power type and I imagine TJ could be a speed type. I’d main ‘em. That all being said, you got Metal Sonic in so I’m 100% satisfied with even just the current roster.

I really respect the "itll release when its ready" mindset, I wouldnt want to play the mod until all of your ideas are fully realized

Nazo as a speed type Honey the Cat as a power type Emerl being the same type of E10G Billy Hatcher Beat as a speed type and Team Hooligan Fang could be Speed then Bean and Bark would probably be both Power Infinite as a flying type would all be pretty cool

I grew up on Nazo Unleashed, seeing Nazo and Shadic would be amazing, but they're definitely more obscure picks that I would be shocked in they got a spot. Especially given that they aren't official Sonic characters. But a cool idea. :)

Here is three Suggestions for characters, team hooligans Fang (Speed), Bean (Fly), and Bark (Power) Bean and Bark have thier own air gear in the Archie sonic comics and Fang/Nack could be the only speed type that uses a bike aka the Marvelous Queen so incorporating these three are perfect for this game

Yo, everytime I see more of this project, I get more excited and more impressed by how far you guys have brought this game. I had a big ass grin on my face the entire time watching this. Love all the QoL changes, and please take your time if it means that we'll get the best product possible. Also if ya'll add Honey the Cat, I'd be thrilled

Sonic Riders mods has taken on a whole other level. Now all that's left on my wishlist is new race tracks in the future, or existing race tracks from later Sonic Riders games.

Cosmo could perhaps be a fly type? I only say that cuz she can float gently down and such. Skins of her could perhaps be Galaxina, Starla, and Daisy who were the other seedrians in the anime. Sally would be a speed type. Her skins could perhaps be her old original designs such as when she was pink with black hair and maybe even when she was originally gonna be a cat!

I'd love to see Emerl from Sonic Battle. He was part of that same era of Sonic that Riders was and he's gone largely forgotten, not really appearing in any crossovers. I'd also like Gum from Jet Set Radio. I think a JSR rep is an obvious pick but Beat's gotten so much representation in official Sega games and fan mods, it'd be cool to give Gum a shot. Character picks aside, amazing job with this update. Riders was such an amazingly deep and unique racer and I'm so glad that thanks to all your work it didn't just die on the gamecube. Thank you.

I think Tangle the Lemur really fits the tone of the Riders series

I'm new to Riders in general, just discovered the game a week or two ago. I'm finishing vanilla content before moving to DX but very excited to do so, I am absolutely floored by this trailer and the community endeavor you guys have undertaken for an underrated game. Please keep it up because DX looks amazing.

Tangle the Lemur and Whisper the Wolf would be super hype to see in this game after how cool they are in the IDW comic run.

It would be so sick if you would add characters from either the idw or archie comics to come so characters like (Tangle, Whisper, Sally Acorn, etc.) Personally, I'm voting on Sally.

Omg I just started playing this game a couple days ago and it is so nostalgic!! I love this game so much!!

I think a fun character to add would be the Rappy from Phantasy Star. Its a sega owned franchise and their stubby build might be fitting for the game's setting and seeing as they aren't extensively complicated models, bones and rigging should be much kinder on the devs- no worrying about fingers. Not to mention, they'd be a good fly type

Mighty (Power), Ray (Fly), or Dynamite Headdy (Speed) come to mind when it comes to character suggestions!

I'll go for a wild pick: Emerl! He could be a jack-of-all-trades type of character, able to interact with everything on the stage, with stats mirroring a lesser Sonic. With his gears however, they could alter his stats to be more in-line with the characters he interacted with in Sonic Battle. Maybe even throwing the voices of other characters he's emulating through a robotic filter like the original gba title. The only transformation I could think of would be his Ultimate state, but that sounds like a balancing nightmare for any competitive scene.

Honestly, I imagine you don't need any more +1's for Blaze and Silver. But, if you do, here it is. More importantly, take this as a heartfelt +1 for Team Hooligan and especially Fang/Nack. I remember there being rumors of him being in this back in the day, and those rumors were what taught me about him as a character, which was what got me into expanded Sonic stuff and Archie Sonic, and lit the fire under my love for this franchise that still burns to this day. Seeing him finally come to this game would be a great full-circle experience for me, personally... and hopefully others as well?! Lol Anywho, biases partially aside, I do think he would be a great fit, along with the rest of Team Hooligan. He could be a speed type with default Marvelous Queen bike (maybe even be Bike exclusive?), and plenty of attack potential with the popgun. Personally, I think he already kinda fits the art style, but you could give him maybe a biker jacket and sunglasses worn, or on the brim of his hat. I definitely wouldn't switch his hat out, as I've seen fan designs do, I think that's too much of his character. Bark could be power with default snowboard (maybe even board exusive?), ski goggles and thick winter jacket. And Bean, I would think maybe you could give him a skating helmet with goggles (or backwards cap? Maybe with a Dynamite Dux reference on it?) and jacket as well and just call the jacket a Hooligan team jacket lol And to kinda change his pallette up some with the clothes to make him stand out from Jet. You could even make him skate-exclusive if you wanted to make their theme being gear-exclusive, but skates don't really mesh with him particularly... Just spitballin! Lol but yeah, +1 for Blaze, Silver, Bark, and Bean, and +100 for Fang!

I know this is a long shot but seeing Black Doom in riders would be awesome. There is one piece of fanart that I know of him in the riders style, Doom would be a power type in my opinion.

Can’t believe I didn’t see this until now. This is AMAZING. The hype I have for DX 2.0 is now too large to quantify! As for the character suggestions, I have some that I’ve always wanted to see in my ideal Sonic Riders game: - Team Choatix: Obvious choice. They haven’t been playable together in forever. - Omega: Would be nice to have the full Team Dark in the game. And I think Omega could ride each gear type since he skates in the Olympic Games series. - Big: Same reasons as Omega. - Silver and Blaze: Another no brainer. - Marine/Gemerl: I’ve always wondered who’d Silver and Blaze’s third teammate would be if they ever entered a Grand Prix. Marnie would make the most sense but idk if she’d be a Power Type. Gemerl would be a fancy pick since Cream and Blaze are friends, so maybe she had Gemerl help Blaze’s team. - Mighty and Ray: Two other characters who I think deserve to be there. For other SEGA characters: - Amigo and Billy Hatcher: They we’re playable in ZG so why not? - Beat: He deserves it. - Arle: Sonic was added to the lastest Puyo Puyo Tetris game so he decided to invite her to Riders. And that’s it (for now). This list got pretty long, so thank you for reading this far. Your guys are amazing and I’m so glad my favorite racing game has an awesome mod!

Back-ports of all the post-OG Riders characters would be really cool, so that means: Silver, Blaze, Amigo, Billy Hatcher and Vector. I don't think the SCR's could be very feasible since they're just really weird in ZG. Also I'd love it if the two robots had a skin for all the ones that show up in Free Riders. Honestly just making a definitive Sonic Riders game sounds like such a dream to me. You're doing a great job!

Holy shit I had NO IDEA there was a project like this being worked on! Count me in, in that case. In terms of character suggestions, I think maybe the Jet Set Radio main character (i forget his name at the moment, but hopefully you know what I mean, mr. graffiti roller skate man). He would be likely pretty interesting, assuming he wouldn't have a gear, just his skates. Although I imagine that would be frustrating to add to other characters, but maybe the benefit is that he has extremely good turning abilities and picks up speed faster perhaps? I suppose to compensate, he wouldn't have a tight turning drift like the other characters, which means no boost I suppose unless you land tricks. His benefit would be the ability to maintain speed with almost kart-like turning abilities. He would definitely be a speed type, of course. While he doesn't really have any riders FANART, I feel like his normal attire is already very riders, being very modern with the famous green goggles and fingerless gloves. If he wasn't added, it would at least be nice to give sonic his jet set sonic outfit I've seen pop up in several places. Any other suggestions, I'm not sure. Not the best at this, though I think Silver and Blaze would be good as Fly and Power types respectively. I'm about 90% sure there is riders versions of both of them, at the very least silver definitely does. You could try something really out there, something weird, like maybe Sonic.EXE or Fleetway Super Sonic for halloween, or another option is even doing Scourge the Hedgehog (green bad boy sonic). He would also have a Super Form, since iirc he used it once (though it was a very weird lookin super form, but hey don't judge) Quick question, would certain potential new characters (such as silver or blaze) bring in new maps, considering you can add them? Places like Crisis City, or maybe something as out there as Water Palace from Rush if you want to use that for Blaze.

i would love to see the trio from sonic the fighters in this. the manual already states that bark is a great snowboarder. since they were planned to be in sonic heroes, i think they would be right at home.

Have you thought about Starline from IDW?

Blaze the Cat makes the most sense in my eyes. She and Silver have made appearances in two of the three games, Both have their own super forms, and this could also help Marine complete the team

Tempo the Grasshopper from Tempo (32x) and Super Tempo (Saturn) would be awesome to see added!

Billy Hatcher could be a cool addition, but not sure if it could be a Speed or Power Type. Also, I'd love to see Sonic, Tails, and Amy in their Concept Outfits, since I personally think they looked neat.

This is so cool you have all done such a good job with this new update for sonic riders keep up the good work! For the character, I would like you to maybe add in classic Sonic preferably his toei design I think that would be cool to add but other than that I can't wait and see who you might be adding.

SPEED - Blaze The Cat FLY - Silver The Hedgehog POWER - Marine The Raccoon (?)

Would love to see Silver, Blaze, Marine, Vector, Espoo, Charmy, Sticks, Tikal, Chaos, Big, Omega, Eggman Nega, and maybe even Shade and Vanilla too. Honestly wish E-10k B was his own character though, but at least he made it in in some form. And hoping Super Silver comes at some point too, maybe as a Speed and Fly combo, or all three types like Super Shadow. Maybe even Hastune Miku and Persona 5 Joker as new guest characters too. If more forms are allowed, maybe even include Dark Sonic (with green eyes like Perfect Chaos instead of pure white), Super Metal Sonic (formed the same way as Super Mecha Sonic from Sonic & Knuckles by charging up on Chaos Energy without emotions to sustain the energy), Dark Metal Sonic (if even a robot's emotions can fuel Chaos Energy, I think that's likely to happen), and Neo Metal Sonic? And one last thing. In case fan characters are allowed, can I suggest a Metal Amy if possible? Was picturing her with Amy wearing alt costumes based off Space Channel 5 honestly while thinking of Sonic Riders myself, and thought they would look great together in a Riders game EDIT: Forgot Sonic the Werehog. Thought he would be great to add too. But not sure if he would have his own character slot or work like Super Sonic.

I wonder if a Weapon Based character would be okay, sort of like having a weapon as their main gimmick that affects the item mechanic or perhaps other system mechanics to an extent. Such as Gadget (Sonic Forces) and E-102 Gamma for examples.

Once you've been able to add Metal Sonic, it's time for the best character - BIG the Cat!

I'm surprised more people did say Big, but I'd like to say Starline from IDW would be an excellent fit for the game.

I think having the cast of Sonic Generations & Heroes as a base roster would be really good. (minus Classic characters) All who's missing in that depart is the Chaotix, Silver, & Blaze. As for Sonic Characters I'd personally recommend: - Chaos Zero as a Power Type. - Tikal as a Flying Type. - Emrel as a Power Type. - Sticks as a Speed Type. (despite what I said, I genuinely think she'd be a fitting addition. She'd be like Piranha Plant is Smash) - Big as a Power Type. (give him a Froggy Bike or AirBoard) As for SEGA: - Jet as Speed Types. - Billy Hatcher as a Power Type? - Amigo as a Power Type. And - Hatsune Miku as a Speed Type. I really feel keeping the Roster between Adventure 1 and Colors is the best way to go and can really encapsulate the Era the game came out in.

I would love to see more characters from other Sega games like Kiryu or Joker

New sonic riders content just dropped. Of course Mighty and Ray, Team Chaotix, maybe Chaos Silver and blaze. And another Sega character could be Ristar

I'm suddenly remembering that one Sonic racing game that had Team Fortress 2, Danica Patrick and I think Simon from the Yogscast? Imagine if you added them!

Another great power type would be Sonic the Werehog.

Beats from jet set radio would be a good speed charater I think we hit the one I think you should use like a spray cans of spackle with

So happy it's possible to add custom characters in this! Might need to add Metal's new boost since it's too much like Shadow's. But anyways, for characters, should be obvious to add Silver, Blaze and Vector since they were in future Rider games. But for the rest, I say, Big, Omega, Espio, Charmy, Tikal, Chaos Zero, & Eggman Nega(Alt from Eggman) should be included.

That's cause we have him using Shadow's animations for the time being. We'll create custom animations at some point, but that might not be ready in time for 2.0.

I think it would be cool to have Werehog, Eggman Nega, or Johnny from Rush Adventure. Blaze and Silver would be pretty cool too!

There are LOTS of sonic characters that could join the roster. Like the chaotix team, Ray, Mighty, Big (kind've a stretch), Omega, Marnie, Tails Doll (again, kind've a stretch) and that's just to name a few.

Ya'll are making some good progress on DX! Can't wait for 2.0!! As for characters, JSR characters would make a great fit, but for some odd reason, I would love to soon Kiryu Kazuma riding on a Outrun-skinned Hang-On just beating the crap outta the competition, and have him be a Power-type because yes.

Wow I can’t believe this. I definitely need to play this now. Silver, Blaze, Mighty, Ray, Chaotix, Omega I would love to see. I’m really excited to Jump in and play a game I loved so much. I could only imagine how far y’all can take this like maps. But take your time.

Character Season Pass holy shit. Espio, Charmy and Vector for Season 1 would be hilarious.

My headcanon is that Omega didn't want join considering how Shadow and Rouge's last teammate broke down and fears of holding them back. So Omega asks Chaos without Shadow or Rouge knowing until the last minute. Silver gets recruited by Amy and Cream to be apart of Team Rose as Metal Sonic teams up with Eggman.

A bit late to this absolutely amazing video, as Sonic riders completely changed my life and is one of if not my favorite game of all time. On the topic of characters to fill out the roster, an obvious batch of characters that fit the Speed/Power/Fly archetype that didn't make it in Riders from Heroes is Team Chaotix, Espio, Vector, and Charmy. It would also be sick of Metal Sonic had a super-form that was shown in Sonic 3 and Knuckles in Mecha Sonic or Super Mecha Sonic after getting powered by the Master Emerald. Another character that could potentially be added is Chaos, in it's base form. Blaze the cat and Silver the hedgehog are can also work, and Speed and Fly characters respectively. Mephiles from Sonic 06 can also work. Omega is another good choice.

METAL SONIC IS BACK BAYBEE! I'm so happy to see him, he was always my favorite Sonic villain! xD And about characters... I would love to see Sally Acorn as a Speed type, Honey the Cat as a Power type and Klonoa as a Fly type, but I agree with several other characters picked by other comments (Silver, Blaze, Emerl, Beat, etc). Also, just asking, but are any plans to release DX for the PC version? I'm just curious. - V.D.

yes, the next version major version of DX after 2.0 will be for PC

I know it is weird, but just imagine if monika from ddlc ridering an extream gear, and her skins are sayori, Natsuki and yuri... It would be a dream come true...
