Thank you Paul! Thank you Richard! Technically, this is a AFC First Round Playoff Tournament Game. Teams were seeded 1-8 in each conference by record; this was due to the players' strike/abbreviated season. I believe the first two weeks were simply referred to as First Round and Second Round, with no 'Wild Card' or 'Divisional Playoffs' for this year. Thanks for all your great posts.

Shula usually had no patience for fumblers - but Andra Franklin was the exception for some reason. After his 2 Nd fumble - Shula would typically have banished the FB to the bench. Franklin fumbled at some painfully in opportune times in big games. Franklin fumbled away a chip shot FG try late in the infamous epic SD playoff game a year earlier.

I loved andra franklin but he had a bad habit for fumbling at crucial times. The year before when miami and San Diego played the epic postseason game, miami was up with minutes to go and they were driving the ball but andra franklin fumbled and the Chargers immediately tied the game and the. Dolphins lost. If andra had not fumbled dolphins would have won with a field goal.

He got to the Super Bowl because of dominant defense and a great running game. Neither Marino EVER had. If Marino had this team behind him, he would have been to a couple. So Dan Fouts never went to a super bowl, so Woodley is his equal. If you are trying to say Woodley was a good QB, or compare him to MArino in ANY way, you need to get back on your meds..

Give Dan Marino the ball with that lead in the 2nd Half, you know he’s going to set up shop on that Hogs Defense and at least throw two touchdown passes which would have been enough to seal Super Bowl XVII. You're right - had they lost to Miami in the snowplow game NE finishes 4-5 and would've been the 8th seed and Cleveland would've been the 7th seed because of head to head win the Browns had (10-7) in week 3. Seattle and Buffalo each were 4-5 but NE beat both of them (I didn't know this in my initial post). None the less, NE only won the snowplow game b/c of the weather - as Miami was a vastly superior team to the Pats in '82.
