Hi Sam - the two foot pedals are the accelerator and clutch. Braking is applied via the brake lever between the driver seat and engine cover. The gearbox is a 3 speed and reverse gearbox with an additional reversing lever to allow full speed in either direction. The exhaust you mention on the back is actually a holder for a jig that allows the Wickham to be turned. The one we use on the Isle of WIght steam railway doesn’t have this. We have a rear view mounted external mirror which we use for travelling backwards, alongside facing backward to see where we’re going. Forward facing is on the up line towards Ryde. The rear axle is a chain driven affair. Maximum speed is 25 mph although we don’t get anywhere near that - what with the noise, sway, and limited suspension, 15 mph is more than enough. If propelling a trailer this speed is reduced accordingly. When in BR use it was known to top out at 45 mph and it was donated to the steam railway requiring repairs - the chassis finally gave out last year and the running gear was used in a spare we procured. The model is very accurate. If sound fitted it needs to have the passengers shouting as there’s no soundproofing. Keep up the good work.
A couple of cast whitemetal crew members will help the running by leaps and bounds, you should be able to nearly double the weight of the model which should help it become a bit less sensitive to dirty track as well as make it look a lot more realistic.

I love to see Ellis Clark models. It is clear that they put a lot of care and effort into their models. Take notes, Heljan.
Being such an open model for me the most glaring omission is no driver or crew, if some die-cast crew and maybe a tool-box and tools were added that would not only add some weight to the trolley, but then it would be prefect, but it's still very cute as-is.. Thanks for showing such an unusual model.

Yeah I agree - I think they did sell those to go with them, but they appear to be out of stock! Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Every time you review an O gauge model I wish I had the space and the budget. They just look so good. Thanks for another great review
Ellis Clark is quite generous with the catalogs and brochures when you order a model from them! I am surprised this model does not come with a driver figure, especially since the vehicle is so open. Vechicels like these were common in America from 1920-1980 and were called Speeders.
The trolly reminds me of the motor cars/track speeders we have here in the states. Another fantastic review. Good to see another model that you now have in both O and double O scales.

Yes, and there’s a good variety in the prototype, so this would look just as home on an O-gauge layout set in North America, as it would over across the pond. Keep in mind that the prototype carried (usually) - at most - 2 of the flat wagons, often one in front and one behind. The track MOW personnel would load one wagon with empty buckets to throw the old track spikes and tie plates in, and buckets full of new, replacement spikes and tie plates on the other flat wagon. The buckets were almost always rusty, beat-up, and tarnished, so finding some O-scale buckets and painting them oxide red would make these more realistic! 🙂 I’ve also seen them with two wagons, both behind, as well as with only one wagon for carrying coolers full of water for the crews.
Great review again Sam. Quite the quality model. Well good engineered and flawlessly manufactured. All reflected in the price which is more than decently balanced.

Thank you Linda - I agree - absolutely lovely model! :D Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Decent review here Sam, a really. Nice looking model from the looks of it, I know it’s o gauge but to be honest to motorise something like this is quite amazing, even the Bachman OO one being motorised is quite amazing.
These sort of models really make it worth while. This level of detail and attention to quality is impressive.
The detail on this model is outstanding.

Yeah it definitely is!! :D Thanks for watching, Sam :)
I don’t know much about O gauge models, but to me £150 seems quite reasonable for that scale
What a superb little model :) My nearest equivalent would be my LGB Tm 2/2 at 3 times the price!!
TIP - Unfold the box and rebuild it so the Wickham Logo and printing is on the outside. 👍😉😊
I think for that price it should at least come with a fine painted driver, this type of open loco always looks strange without a driver, beautiful model and beautiful review tho
It is always great to be able to watch a video from your Chanel. It is a nice brake from all the other noise and drama. I hope your Chanel continues to grow your reviews are informative and fun to watch. I live in the USA and it is nice to see what is happening in the train world in the United Kingdom. Thanks.
Amazing details. Your close ups revealed detail almost gone to waste - yet it would be noticed if missing. Simply Beautiful. Money well spent, good sir. Thanks for sharing.
I've watched sense 75k subs, it's so nice seeing you grow :)
Absolutely beautiful and amazing. I would've bought one at the Gauge 0 Guild's southern show on saturday, had I not had a load of preorders expected soon. Fingers crossed one can be a birthday present though
Hi Sam Nice review ,lovely little engine I like it alot All the best Brian 😃
This is a fantastic model! Btw have you ordered an Accura Siphon? Just arrived in stock.
Sam, thank you for this review. That model is quite tempting, I fear that I have to order one then. Best wishes Dirk
These were fascinating. I had an opportunity to see one from Canadian National/Terra Transport 42” inch gauge operations. It had been repowered with a Chrysler Hemi 420 c.i. Power plant. The original was a Rover inline 6. It’s striking in CN’s focal orange.

Gotta love that dodge power
I live in Skipton, and Ellis Clark are no more than fifteen minutes' walk from my home. If you are in Skipton, I would recommend a visit; you will get a warm welcome. The O gauge stock they carry is excellent. I wish I had the room to do O gauge. However they do have a stock of smaller guages and I have bought a loco and two wagons for my OO9/HOe layout. Well worth a diversion into Skipton. 😀
I think the Wickham Trolleys are very nifty machines on any railway. I have seen one in operation when I was on holiday in Somerset on the West Somerset Railway and it was very nifty.
Sam why did you think the Modelrailwayman video is longer than the last video? Modelrailwayman is only half an hour long. You don't remember the length of your videos haha.
👍👍Most enjoyable review Sam . Makes me think of perhaps dabbling in O gauge someday . Good to see price and quality together .

What a charming little model. I have the I.P. Engineering Wickham trolley kit in 16mm scale. This video has made me want to get cracking building it.
Great video !!!! I look forward to your videos
Great review! Should definitely do the Ellis Clark Quad Arts when they come out!
Might be interesting to get a second trailer for review. Maybe a flat bed? Would give you a nice little O gauge train. I saw either hattons or rails had the heljan GWR rail car on discount as well, that would be interesting to see.
Always neat to see new o gauge locomotives, shoulder try more by Ellis Clark

Thanks a lot James, I agree! :D Thanks for watching, Sam :)
I think the unidentified piece on the rear face of the trolley is the pivoting point for turning the vehicle around rather than an exhaust. This unslotted, was placed underneath and the trolley turntable rail sections which were also carried on board were then fitted allowing reversing direction with the driver still able to .control progress without having to look behind. There are images on Google of the process and of the parts that fit onto the pivot.
I want the same in N ! Joke put aside, it's a nice model, well manufactured, and with decent performance. That's promising for their quadarts !
The wickham trolley is pretty much the British version of the American Fairmont speeders Which I find enjoyable owning an actual fairmont speeder
Well... well... well... who is singing coreless motor praises now... 😀Great model and great review Sam! Thank you! 🙂

Are you getting the new Bachmann Thomas and friends Ryan to review
I really like this model Sam, I'll for sure get one for my O gauge layout. Cheers Jasper & Willow
Yes, Sam I was going to tell you to buy one of these a couple weeks ago, then it just slip my mind and I forgot. Ooops! 😳You said they were made with Ford Engines, Whats wrong with Austin Martin Engine's they did make the Original Austin Mini and it was a small engine that could have fit into that engine compartment? Wickham wouldn't have had to pay Import tax on it either just saying. Sam, I think you'll have to make a Piano to fit in it's Trailer.🚞😁🧀Cheers!
I have the sound fitted model and bought the crew figures. The review frequently describes the model as "expensive" but I don't think that is a fair description when one considers the prices being asked nowadays for 00 industrials, for example. The Ellis Clark bui;d quality is superb as is their packaging.
Hope you are well Sam keep up the good work.

That's amazing trolley
Hi Sam I was just wondering if you could do another shunting video
Hey sam what's your favorite O gauge model engine coach and truck you have currently?
Well, it’s nice that they provide it DCC ready, but I’m not sure about where one would put a speaker for sound; under the roof, maybe?
@captainnemo247

I read the speaker fits inside the radiator.
I am sure that some members of the Blue Bell Railway will be interested in this model . Some of us have good memories of "The Wickham Incident " , l am sure .

Hey Sam. If you don't end up wanting that little pin, I'll gladly buy it. I collect pins.
That is a very good review Sam I think you should do bachmann Ryan next because he is now released
I have a feeling that the 'thing' on the other end to the radiator is the horn, it looks a little similar to the old WW2 air raid sirens... No idea if this is right though.
delicious model, only improvement I can think of is if a "side curtains down" optional add on was included.
Is it actually expensive though? I don't model O gauge but I want one! Brilliant.
Hi Sam.
Wait Sam when did you expand ceiling layout? Holy cow I've been gone awhile
Hey Sam did you hear the news, Bachmann has just released ryan. I'll be getting him very soon ;) Cheers Jasper & Willow
trolley as in tram? sorry English is not my first language i am just fan of it *spins around to proove that indeed i am a fan* It dose look quite nifty and i am liking engineers trying to push their limits and fit stuff in smaller places within chassis. Also like it because it is quite unusual sight and baring randomly happening upon Lartigue's mad train it is all i can ask for.
Could you please review some bachmann thomas and friends composite coaches? I would really like to see how they look behind "real" 00 engines😄

That sounds good - I'll have to look into that! Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Was it a Whickham trolley in the great St trinians train robbery?
There are 3 very similar little trolleys at a museum I live close to... I love those little things, tho they're on outside display and they're falling apart 🙃
Hi Sam how big is your o gage layout?
Hi Sam in U.S.A. we call them track speeders.
Don't run o gauge sam but if did would definitely have one 👍
Have you got anything new in TT gauge since you reviewed the last TT gauge item

he smoll he cinnamon roll but most importantly he ready to roll
14:15 Sam: But this is not a 8f... Me: So it's not a war criminal. Reply if you get the reference.
What brand of O gauge track is that?
In America we call them speeders even though they are certainly not fast. Lionel makes a rendition of one in 3 rail O scale and it is very much a toy for roughly the same price and you don't get any of the nice documentation or extras, not even a pin😢
Can you recreate the Great St Trinian's Train Robbery?
Good video! ;)

Hey Sam, you could make some people in there for another project.
150 quid for any O gauge loco seems fairly reasonable… especially when it’s the same price as the Lilliputian railcar
Very good👍👍

Hi
150 for a limited edition seems a fair price. Initially I wasn't tempted, but now 🤔
Hmm. I wonder, Is it possible to convert this to 3 rail O scale? Hmm. 😏
This model would run much better on DCC as trying to force even 200mA through such s low voltage will enviably lead to poor pick up performance even if more pickups where fitted.
When will you have closed captioning again? 😢
How Many Paper Work & leaflets came with this Model??? 🤔🚂🚂🚂
Might need a bit of grease to those worms gears
My name is Amber Spotiswood headmistress of st Trinian's and I claim the reward regarding the train robberssss (Fyi I think this is the same trolley that was in the great at Trinian's train robbery)
Nice model. I've uploaded a short compilation video from my captures folder, in contribution to you celebrating 10 years of your channel. I hope you enjoyed watching it, or if you haven't yet, let me know what you think of it. I also have a video idea for you. Create a compilation video highlighting all the times you've sneezed in front of the camera, and it can include the fake sneeze you let out in giving me a hay fever shoutout.
