Dale was my great uncle & a life long bachelor so my great grandmother always put homemade goodies & things in that basket for whenever Uncle Dale would visit (he was her baby & she was always "taking care of him") she'd send it home with him. I'd give you what I consider a small fortune to have that basket back!!!! (All of that is a lie trying to get your basket Emily. But I DO LOVE that basket...lol. I don't think I can pick a favorite from last video or this one. You do such amazing things. GREAT job my friend 💕. I am glad you held off on painting Dale's (whoever Dale is 🙃) basket until you maybe gather more info on it. My great Aunt for real had something similar but not quite that same thing so maybe that's why it struck a cord with me. I do know hers was VERY old & that was years ago. I'd love to know if you ever find out any info on that though...just curious. Sorry for rambling on with a fib 🙃🫣.

You totally had me believing you. 😂😂😂
Love Dale’s basket and that you kept it original. I’m thinking it is a lunch pail…from the good days when writing your name on your stuff (even just your first name) was enough that no one would take it. Maybe Dale has lots of brothers and sisters and this was Moms way of keeping the lunch pails straight.
I love that basket! I grew up on a farm in the South and I’ve never seen one with a lid like that. We had a bunch of those kind of baskets, in all sizes and some with lids made from the same material as the basket, but have never seen a lid like that. Also, FYI: if you place a Walmart type plastic bag, wad it up and stuff it on top of your spackle, it will keep it moist forever. Sometimes, when I know I’m going to use it, I’ll take the bag out and close it up for about an hour before use. But, I’m telling you it really works. Got that advice from an old painting contractor!
I think you made the right decision on not paint that basket! I love it❤
Just happened to find you. Love what you do. I'm glad to see another person who walks into a thrift store or yard sale and sees all the treasures "that can be". Good job!
Loved all your thrift store radios! Excited that I found you!
I'm glad you just cleaned up and styled the basket - not everything needs to be painted.
The book in your basket needs a beautiful bookmark!😊

Great idea!!
The basket I have some Mickey Mouse dishes I would have turned it into a picnic basket 😊
I would have left the basket as you did. Beautifully done❤
I have really enjoyed both of these videos!!🎉 It has been fun to see your creative process with your thrift finds.😊 I'm glad you kept the basket natural.👍
My guess would be a basket for picking apples or peaches.....maybe. Looks similar to baskets at the road side fruit stand.
Love love love the basket! Thank you for sharing.
Oh i smile every time you go on with your crafty stories. Dont ever stop! Tfs ❤
I love the basket. I would not paint it it is very pretty like you staged it.
I like the basket and flower pot.
That basket is a score! I don't know a thing about it, except it is a great find. Thanks for honoring Dale!
I am a new viewer to your posts. I really do like your ideas. My favorites today are the framed patina tile and the basket. I love the fact that you did not want to take away the charm of that basket and I think Dale would be proud. Lol In your last video I really loved the metal tin with the bulbed flowers from the thrift planter you bought. Great job!!
I absolutely wouldn't paint that basket. All of these are great ideas.
At paper mills and other factories, men often had a traditional lunch container that they ALL carried. In the 80s, a big strike at one mill caused replacement workers to brave the lines to work. They switched to the plastic coolers. That basket looks like it might have been a lunch basket.

That’s what I would have guessed, a lunch basket.
I love the tin tile frame. I just love those tiles.
The basket is very cute, but I believe the leather straps go under the wood divider in the middle. I think it will help to leave the lid in place while opening it.
I love those tiles alsso
Love the basket
The basket is perfect! So happy you left it natural … there has to be history behind it 😢

I agree. It seems like some crafters are always covering up their finds with chalk paint. Sometimes the natural patina is too pretty to cover up.
It is a farmers market basket I think that’s what it’s called. I think you got a good deal on it. I believe they are about $50. I’ve seen people use them as picnic baskets or sewing baskets. Great find and great episode as always!
I enjoyed both episodes. I hope you do more of these. 😊

Me too! These were great!
Love that you left the basket and it looks so beautiful.
Hi..we had one and my mom used it as a picnic basket, when we would go for a family drive.
Yes Emily that basket was beautiful love the way you did it keep it up❤
Wonderful. I'm loving your channel ❤
Just found your channel! Ty for the fun great ideas! See you soon. 🇨🇦
Part 2, like Part 1 did not disappoint! I loved the riser you made. I saw on another video a while ago, another creator used the little wooden snowmen you can buy at Dollar Tree as the feet on a riser. I made one using them. The base is wood so I used some antiquing wax on it and the little snowmen. I attached them upside down and you can't tell what they were. I think the little wooden angels would also work (although you would have to remove their wings). As for Dale, I'm thinking it was a basket full of goodies and given to them as a house warming gift. Maybe? Who knows! ☺
Love the basket too
No paint for the bushel basket, its beautiful as is, I love how you styled it. Was Dales basket now its Emily's...😉🙂
The basket may have been a lunch pail?!?! I remember seeing something like this at my great Grandmother’s house when I was a kid and I’m pretty sure that’s what they had used it for.
You are absolutely awesome love good will store keep up what you do I can’t wait to watch more thank you so much for sharing
I do enjoy these kinds of videos. I love what you did with all of these items. And I think Dale would approve!!! LOL... 😜👍😁🤗🤗
Love the basket! I would not have painted it. Great job on all the flips.
Mist your spackle with water it will be ok. Love these flips!
I love the basket! I love how to put items in it also! You have a heart of gold thinking of the guy who owned it! Thanks for sharing! I enjoy your flps!
I made the same thing and painted it white and then rusted it. In the center I put a cast iron medallion. And the frame is also black. 😊
You are really really really good. I love the way you explain things and show them and I'm excited I found your channel. Take care, Janet.

Thank you so much!
Im definitely leaning towards an apple picking basket... But it could just be a fancy lid another DIYer threw together. 🤷🏻♀️ Lol... My best "guess" anyways. 😂 I do love the way you used the vintage wooden weaving bobbins as decor. I worked a few years in a textile mill that was over a hundred years old and those were everywhere... Along with a couple ghosts. Not kidding!! Place was sooo spooky and i have some stories, let me tell ya!!! 👻
I love the flower pot and basket. I would have made the same choice with the basket.
Hi Emily! Fun video!! I was thinking the whole time you were talking about the basket that Dale got rid of it hisself, brought it to the thrift store. 19:46
I love what you did with the basket!
I love what you did with the basket. I would have done the same
If I were guessing, I'd say that was originally an old sewing basket. I believe that there should be a tack or brad though each of the 2 straps that join the 2 lids together that would go into that center piece of wood. It sort of mimics a hinge. From what I can tell, all the leather straps, might be replacements, but it is difficult to say for sure from the video.
I love the basket. You made it beautiful.
Because of the leather hinges it makes me think of the Amish. Just a guess...lol
My fav was the dirt stained flower pot.
Very unique basket I love it!
Im loving your thrift flips. More please 😊😁
I loved everything. Great job, Emily. ❤️❤️❤️
Really nice!❤
Emily, you really have such a keen eye. I love watching you craft.❤
Thank you! Loved Dale's basket! Very good ideas!
I absolutely love all your thrift flips! Fun video part 1 and 2! My favorite is Dales basket! 🥰❤️
Terrific flips! I love the bushel basket❤
I really enjoyed both of your thrifted videos ❤. Love everything you done. I would have definitely left the basket in it's original state too, I love it!
Love Dale’s basket. I was sad you sand the name. I love the story of the basket. And I would style it the same way. So glad you didn’t paint it. 😊
I love how the basket turned out and how you styled it!
Your thrift store has great items. Everything turned out so nice. You are so creative and I learn so much from you. Have a blessed evening.
I always enjoy watching you craft and putting your spin on the items! Thanks,
Dale! DALE! Emily must sleep! Shes tired from creating all of these beautiful thrift flips! Come get your basket! Its all cleaned up and styled!* ❤😂❤ Tfs darling ❤
Very nice flips.😀👍👍👍
Just another thought... it might be amush. I dont know why i think that. But i did dee another on ebay with same handle that said it was from 1800s. Now i cant stop thinking about it! Lol!
Love the basket ❤❤😊
Emily, did you know you can add water to your old spackling to rehydrate it? Just add tiny bits at a time… Hope this tip helps you or someone else.😊
The basket is so cute the way you decorated it and I think it was a good choice to not paint it ❤❤
Great projects, and really well don😊. The dirt in your garden is soooo dark not like mine yours must be really good 😂. Love from Australia 😊
I would have done the same with the basket 🤗.
Hi Emily. Very nice thrift flips. You are very creative. I just subscribed and look forward to your future videos. Thanks for sharing😊
Love it all!! Wonderful ideas❤
I liked it all. You are giving me such great ideas! Thanks!
When I was in high school, I had a purse in the exact same size and shape as your basket. The wood was finished properly, and The sides were woven with wood and cord. The middle piece of the top was attached and was also connected with leather pieces. I could open either side. It was awkward to carry around, particularly to school, but I had the only one in the world. I can still hear the sound it made when the lid dropped closed.

I’m thinking the top of your basket is similar to the color mine was. Perhaps it came from a similar purse that was broken and a mom found that it fit on a bushel basket and put it together for her daughter. The time was 1962.
Those 'wires' in the styrofoam you dug out look like homemade greening pins. Those are pins that are used to hold moss and other floral cover products in place. Most crafters use hot glue instead.

This makes perfect sense!!
The only basket similar to what you showed was a sewing basket. It makes me think of a lunch basket from prairie days, but I did not find that online.
Love all !❤❤❤
You do amazing work
I love that you kept the basket as it was.
Love all your ideas, such great inspiration! Only Natalie wants something to look dirty! lol… AND, Carla really had me going with that fib. Shame on you Carla! lol but that was a great story.
I always love to see how others pick items to flip and what they morph those items into. Love the mystery challenges as well. All are so inspirationally creative.!🥰
Great job on Dale's basket. Which I think is a picnic basket!!
Keep researching the basket and let us know, I felt that you did the right thing,
Loved all the flips but the little Dale bucket so nicely decorated. 👏🌿☀️🌿👏
I love the picture frame with the patina. What is the brand name of the patina you are using?
Hobby Lobby was selling a similar piece last year , it was bigger and made of metal, l could not afford it, so decided to make it. l rembered seeing those tiles of at the DT, so I bought 8 of them, l had an ugly picture that i had bought at a thrift store for the frame in my basement. I painted the tiles with regular primer and chalk paint, then I dry brushed regular black craft paint. I had the paint already. I glued the tiles directly on top of the ugly picture and put everything back in the frame.
I like all your projects. I am glad you left the basket the way it was, although it would be cute painted as well.
Do you have a link for the beads you used on the riser for feet? Love everything. I am a riser lover also
The bushel basket - I had a purse like this and then repurposed it into storage for my craft paints. I love the way you styled it. I really like the riser you made, too. Thanks for the inspiration.
Thank you so much. I love that you didn’t change the basket. Lives everything you did!
Finally, I found the blasted basket, after hearing about it the whole video! It was worth it, I love the basket, it's a charmer! ❤😊 You could have everyone write a paragraph or so about " Dale". Maybe Dale was a woman, like Dale Evans....
Lol love the story 😊
Love The way the baker turned out.
On E bay was a vintage double flip top basket somewhat similar to your basket selling for 42 dollars
I believe your basket is a vintage style apple basket. I say a couple on ebay..
Just found a couple of similar baskets on ebay...one was $15 but not as nice as yours and another was over $200. I goigled antique lidded bushell basket.
