NEW DeNoise + DeReverb in Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2019
This tutorial shows how you can remove noise and reverb from your audio recordings using the new DeNoise and DeReverb effects in Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2019. If you were frustrated with the limitations of Adaptive Noise in 2018, then this will be a huge update for you!

    Very helpful video and looks like Adobe have made some real improvements. One question for you I've been experimenting with Davinci Resolve 15 which has some great features one of which is rendering the time line in the background in a smart way without any input from the editor is this on the cards for Premiere Pro?

  • @VideoRevealed

    @VideoRevealed

    5 жыл бұрын

    A little history... When Adobe was trying to win over Final Cut Pro users many years ago, we would criticize FCP for not being able to edit native media and having to render in the background. Premiere Pro did not need background rendering with the Mercury Playback Engine allowing users to edit native media immediately. Present day... Adobe did finally change that tact in Premiere Rush, which has a preference to turn on background rendering. Currently there is no background rendering in Premiere Pro but maybe it's time. I don't need it but maybe others do?

    @VideoRevealed any chance you would have time to show off the support for ProRes that was just announced in the latest update? and maybe how and when we should use (if at all)? I know that if I had ProRes source and it was required as an output that would all make sense, but is there any benefit for example to convert all your h.265 h.264 stuff to prores while editing and knowing your exporting to youtube?

  • @VideoRevealed

I am contemplating buying the License for it for my drone, but it also means getting away from SD card and moving to SSD drives within the drones. As a hobby user, I cant decide if its even worth it. The $500 license fee is not the end of the world but putting a SSD drive into a drone is not cheap!

    You could save even more processing power and route all the dialogue through a single sub channel then apply the Denoise/DeReverb to the sub channel. Not as good as customising each channel but it's faster and can usually get the job done.

    Advanced question, using Premiere Pro 13.1.4. This is based on your comment at 0:28, that the 2019 version of denoise finally addressed this issue. I don't see this being the case. Yes, I've noticed that in the timeline, Premiere "learns" the adaptive the effect after a few seconds playing into an effected clip. And if you concentrate playback repeatedly in the same area (or loop playback) where denoise is applied to clip, you end up no longer hearing the ramp in to the effect and it sounds good. But go to another area of the timeline, play it there, then come back to where Premiere seemed to have learned the effect, and it's back to where it started, ramping into the effect. Worse, on export, the "ramp in" is always there, re-adapting its way into the effect on EACH consecutive dialogue edit (even with cross fades applied). As a workaround, I tried exporting a "patch" of just audio effected with denoise, all edits placed consecutively with no gaps (not thru edits, but just eliminating spaces between the edited clips)... the idea being that if effected clips are butted up to one another, Premiere won't need to adapt or ramp in to a series of clips with identical effect parameters. I could then match cut those back into the timeline and have a clean export with the effect nicely baked in. But no dice, this didn't work. This effect doesn't need to render, Premiere has no audio mixdown feature as an alternative to an export. Finally, I should note this is happening with the application of the denoise filter using ALL the methods shown in this video. Any alternatives? Doesn't seem to work as advertised.

    These new features are very cool but when I migrated a project over to test them it ended up being a disaster. For the first time I'm very glad that Adobe installs the new version in parallel to the older one. Constant crashes just trying to move around the timeline, play or stop the timeline, add a node to the audio waveform levels or many other actions. The new audio plugins would have helped with some bad audio after an external recording issue left us with just scratch audio for the final project.

    It depends on how you applied the effects. If you applied them to a clip, then look in the Effects Control Panel. If you applied them to a track, then look in the Track Mixer. There's a tiny triangle at the top left of the mixer; twirl that to open the effects.

    We have to wait for the user interface parts of the effects to be updated to support HiDPI displays. There's nothing the user can do to fix this, it's up to Adobe to make new UI elements. Just as an example, when Adobe originally supported Retina displays on the Mac, they had to redraw 1,200 icons just for that application. Adobe has begun making some icons scalable using SVG but there's still a lot of work to do.

Or, are you saying the noise reduction "resets" itself and you hear something at the beginning of the clip? If so, then try putting the effect on the track using the Track Mixer.

    Software companies update their software frequently. When they do, they add more features. You need the latest version of Premiere Pro.

    @@VideoRevealed Good evening, just wanted to let you know that I found a way to fix it, I imported from premiere to audition and used the effects of Hiss removal and denoise. Not sure if its the camera which is a fiji because it doesn't happen with my other footage from my canon. Anyways, your always a big help to first timers like myself. You are a great teacher. : )

    Here is some fun news for you, Premier Pro 13.1.1 breaks these filters. 13.1.0 still works. Apparently Adobe knows of the problem, and is working on a fix, but if your like me and built an entire project before starting to edit the audio portions, rolling back to 13.1.0 doesn't help as the project file was created in a newer version.

    de noiser works great... until you render it. then it turns your audio to ass. Did for me, anyway, that's why i'm here. it sounds fine in premiere, then i render the file and it's absolute trash. i'm super done with adobe. even if there's a fix/workaround... it's not acceptable for it to do that. why even preview your work when it's not gonna gonna represent what it's actually doing? sry, i'm mad AF right now.
