They really need to make Qui-Gon’s and Padawan Obi-Wan’s now, not to mention the overdue green Luke’s.

They had both in the old Hasbro Ultimate FX line that these ones are the spiritual successors of, so I wouldn't be surprised. Though I'm not sure how well much kids in the parks today know those characters. I suspect more recent characters' hilts would sell better.

@@Fanporium they didn’t have day blades though, so an update of them would be nice. And it would really be a shame of kids nowadays to call themselves fans without knowing all of the Duel of the Fates participants, especially with the memes now lol.

@@beaumcdean6575 Honestly, I don't think it would be a shame at all. After almost 50 years, there are so many different ways that young folks can get introduced to Star Wars. The movies are still a great entry point for those in their teens. But Rebels and the other animated series are much more accessible to the younger folks. For me, Luke was the main character and everything else was background and tangent form there. Because I' was 3 when the movies came out and grew up in a Luke-centric world. For many of them, Ezra is the main character and the rest is background to that story. Next generation, it might be High Republic that's the entry point. Just like Star Trek and Doctor Who before us, every multi-generational saga has many layers of goodness. No shame on anyone for loving one layer more than another. It's all part of the same delicious Star Wars lasagna! :-)

Just a mention about what you said about staff length. A few years ago when Disneyland reopened and after the Magic Keys were available. A few months in, I saw a guy with the Legacy Maul hilt assembled as a staff with the 36" blades. He was probably around a foot taller than me (I'm 5'4") and he appeared to have trouble holding it since his hand was above his head. He probably should've had the 31" blades instead. I'd like to see a Temple Guard saber myself. I wonder how the hinge conne tor would be handled. The 3rd party versions of the Temple Guard staff have the hinge and straight connectors. The reviews of it mention the hinge connector is uncomfortable to hold since the hand is holding a metal bar. Just introduced a staff saber and a curved hilt saber really opened the possibilities for different hilts. Some different hilts were in Legends but those were associated with specific characters.

They would certainly have more design options available making a folding coupler for a light plastic toy than for a heavy metal hilt. Just like how this Maul coupler would be difficult to reliably replicate in metal. My assumption (as in the mockups) is that they'd either make it a two-pack and include both adapters (for the same price as two individual - not discounted like Ahsokas), or sell it single with just the straight adapter. I'd hop for the two pack. But the single would probably be more likely, logistically speaking.

@@Fanporium The only other example of a folding hilt besides Dark Rey are Pong Krell's hilts. His hilts were larger since his species is bulkier than an average human. Those hilts would fit the chonkier style of the toy hilts. Since the Acolyte is set far enough back from the PT, Jedi are shown using yellow blades. During the PT, Jedi are only using blue or green blades with the exception of Mace. Maybe in a few decades after the Acolyte, the Jedi using yellow blades form the Temple Guard?

Baylan and Shin with orange blades would be really cool. I thought about including that as an option, but I don't think they'd introduce a toy saber with a blade color not available in the adult sabers. Though I'd be happy to be wrong there.

The fact that the US and EU stores don't carry the same sabers is so annoying. Yoda's and Kylo Ren's have been out of stock almost since they were released over here, but are available in the US store. Kylo's is a nice to have, but Yoda's is a must, specially since it is so far the only green blade available. I have all the others and they are Disney's best offering. I agree that the different connectors are silly. There is a non-destructive way to switch blades. The base of the blade can be disassembled. Then you only need to swap the pieces and it works. I've tried with a few and they all work just fine. Some blades are harder to disassemble though.

You missed one important part. The idle humming constantly stops and restarting in every 5 or 10 second maybe? I cant remember. Which is so annoying, when you didnt move or hit someting. Just turn on and hang up to your table. For me, its very dissapointing.

Ahh, I see that you mean. There's definitely a slight dip in the audio when it loops, rather than a continuous background hum. The other ones definitely do a better job of masking the transition. Good catch!

Product development is all about tradeoffs. Custom makers don't have to worry much about usability or liability, as they target a very small market of mostly adult enthusiasts. So they can get away with thinner hilts that use teeny tiny retention screws for blade attachment. Disney targets the mass market and is under extreme legal scrutiny, so they have a higher usability and liability threshold. That's why you see them using the thicket but easier to use blade push-and-twist blade connectors. Doesn't require metal tools or swallow-able screws, but means you get a slightly chunkier hllt. The tradeoff also usually involves doubling the price of the third-party sabers, as Disney uses simpler electronics and mass manufacturing to keep costs as reasonable as possible, while third party manufacturers can't scale as effectively. And for kids, the third party market doesn't have anything even remotely as accurate of feature-rish as these Disney Store toys FX ones at anywhere close the the $34 price point. They're a pretty phenomenal bang for your buck, if you ask me.
