David Selby obviously had lots of fun playing Quentin through this part of the 1897 storyline. He got to be a rogue rather than a villain. A rogue isn't evil, per-se, but at the same time isn't bound by the rules the good guys have to stick to and thus gets away with a lot of crap while facing far fewer consequences for it.

One of my very favorite episodes-- the reading of Edith's will. The tension between Joan Bennett and Louis Edmonds is wonderful. Edmonds' disdain for Bennett is so well done and Selby and Karlen round out this great scene.

I watched this show when it aired with my late mother. we loved it I would run home from school everyday we got out the same time it started. a few months back I watched the show series again. remember when Joan Bennett was afraid of being buried alive and was. the part where she walked in Collinwood and said Im back everyone was surprised but to me not near enough. I thought ok she just came back from the dead... turn the page lol. after all she wasnt a vampire or a witch. I didnt remember kate jackson ( Daphne) in the first series ? she was simply beautiful in her 20s. Caroline did that accent so good of Pansy they let her do it again later. she was so cute like she was born with it. never be another Dark Shadows . my childhood would not have been the same

I just love the reading of the will. Judith rubbing it in her brothers' faces that she now holds all the cards and they are all dependent on her. Quentin is loving Edward's furious reaction to it all, especially since now he knows he can live at Collinwood forever whether Edward and Judith like it or not. Poor Carl obviously expected to get some kind of inheritance, if not being given the run of the house. Typical Angelique, goes after Rachel because of Barnabas' interest in her and because of her resemblance to Josette. But then she wouldn't be Angelique if she did nothing, would she?

This clip cuts off before Quentin rejects any idea of killing Judith as it would not benefit him at all, just before he outlines his future plans with one of the best ever Quentin lines of the series: "Now that I am firmly established in residence here, I shall devote myself to a life of pleasure with the available ladies of the house."

Angelique was banished back to the 1700s as punishment, by her dark master because of she and Nicholas blair's failures in the 1960s. Quentin and Evan Handley bought her 100 years into the future 1897 through a ritual. She has no memories of being cassandra collins or of the 1960s.

Angelique being a vampire was a temporary thing that Nicholas Blair did to her as punishment. Once Nicholas was gone, so were his spells, or so it seems. I think Angelique was sort of in limbo for a while, until Quentin and Evan brought her back, in 1897. When Dark Shadows was made, it was considered "disposable tv", no one ever expected it to be rewatched and scrutinized. It does contradict itself a few times.
