I agree so much with having concern over vegan items being made with the new non-animal-derived formulas or whatever else. I have a bovine protein allergy, so I can’t have vegan whey, and it’s so incredibly frustrating. I’m so glad other folks have those options, though - truly! I’m definitely jealous!

what I want is a company that makes a decent vegan cheese that does not use oil, more specifically, coconut oil. I thought this might be it, but apparently not. IMHO coconut oil has replace the other SAD processed oils: soybean, and the generic vegetable oil. Coconut oil was so marketed as a healthy oil when it first arrived on the scene, and it is def not. Very saturated fat without much benefit. This is from "Harvard Health" Coconut oil is about 90% saturated fat, which is a higher percentage than butter (about 64% saturated fat), beef fat (40%), or even lard (also 40%). Too much saturated fat in the diet is unhealthy because it raises "bad" LDL cholesterol levels, which increases the risk of heart disease.

Unfortunately - many use oil for the texture replication. Good Planet makes an olive oil one - we just did a video on that a few weeks ago. Maybe look at that ?

Coconut oil is saturated fat, but it's polyunsaturated fat. Coconut oil has MCT oil as a byproduct which is a fast digesting oil that doesn't stay in the body. It burns fast for energy.

@@karenlindstrom8266 processed oils are high in calories (generally 180 cal per Tablespoon and low in nutrients. So if we're cooking with them a lot, using them in sauces a lot, frying in them, that adds up to a lot of empty calories. We need fat for sure, but many of us prefer a truly healthy source: avocados, tahini, nuts & nut butters, chia/flax/hemp seeds to name some.

Good Morning! I’m so happy to see this post, though I am just starting it. Thanks for all you do! I’ve been vegan since I was 16 and I just turned 52, and all of these new products are great and sometimes amazing and Sprouts had these on sale for their Buy One Get One Free deals so I did it. To be honest, while eating it, I wished I had made Nutritional Yeast cheese from scratch. I felt that their cheese was a little rubbery and although I bought the Mexican flavor I felt I couldn’t taste it at all. Sorry for being a bummer on this product. Thank you both, for all that you share ❤

Always appreciate your open/honest reviews. I was wondering if you have perfected an oil-free, nut free (potato nooch) cheese sauce that is good for nachos when it's fresh. Ideally, these can be partially frozen and then grated into shreds. The one i made had way too much lemon juice, so i threw it in the freezer and haven't returned to it. 😂 I would love a good recipe for this tho! Then, it can be edited to add spice for some occasions.

Daiya is my favorite, for now. I haven’t tried the Kraft. I like the Swiss slices and the cheddar slices. The cheddar sticks had NO flavor, very disappointing. The cheddar block was very good and tasted like cheddar. I stopped getting the shredded cheese because it didn’t melt well but haven’t tried the new ones. I really don’t use much cheese, since I became vegan ( 7 1/2 yrs ago) because I got use to not having t. My trying the cheese is over that period of time. I haven’t eaten any for a few months. Thanks for your video ❤️

Because this is Daiya, I was filled with concern for you . . . and at 16:37, I was sure that my concern was warranted, but by some miracle, Daiya seems to be focusing on the aftertaste issue after _a couple of decades_ of people complaining about it! The man is trying to express himself probably in a slower, thoughtful way, but he keeps getting cut off by the lady, so he looks pressured to express on her terms. The lady is managing the conversation like a corporate manager. Also body language wise, her intrusive body language where she is throwing the cheese bags etc across to his space, gesturing her hands across to his personal space, it feels uncomfortable to watch. It ends up being on one person’s superficial terms instead of in harmony. He looks resigned and annoyed sometimes. Reminds me of dynamics like with a boss or manager where I am trying to say the “right things” and hiding who I really am. His body language looks like he’s leaning away from her in a defensive way to protect himself At the end, she says she will give her opinions and he can agree, disagree, or add his own- the way she talks is like she is the boss and he is the subordinate. Then she says ok you say your opinions and I’ll go on my phone - it signals that she’s not listening because his opinions are not important. Just looks disrespectful.
