@@graduator14 basically you start watching a speedrun of FF7 PS1 version, you immediately clic on the play button to pause the video, you clic at the end of the red line to go at the very end of the video, and clic on the play button again. And here you go. No need to buy the game, you skip all the way up to the credits. We're only in 2021, major skip found. Also may work for PC version.

I wonder if the quicksand warning message here can be manipulated to allow clipping through the mountains to Nibelheim or maybe even Rocket Town.

It's worth noting that, as you're coming up to the trigger, you don't need to line up with the grid line or anything, you just need to generally be towards the bottom of the trigger i think. That might not even be a requirement.

Skipped, saves about a min and a half. OOT? Yeah we'll credits warp b4 we meet the big talking tree. At least sm64 0 star still gives the clutch 3 bowser throws in a row. So many chokes there

Back in the day my friend and I played this game inside out. We found this skip without any fancy steps we just drove in certain direction straight through Cosmo Canyon. We always just drove back for the cut scene, why would you want to miss anything in Cosmo Canyon. We always played casually and never thought about speed running. Then I came across your video recently, it's mad that people are still finding things in the game so many years later. I love your videos they bring back memories.

I've done that before! I was shocked & couldn't believe it had happened, & had only been able to reproduce it a couple of times before. Its nice to know it can be done easier now.

This is amazing man. Speedrunning communities never cease to amaze. It's like hearing how Super Mario Bros 3 is still getting tons of new things discovered for its speedrun. Just crazy. I do have two questions though: 1) Are there any major things still needed for the speedrun at this point? I remember a couple of years ago on stream you said this skip, along with Kalm skip, was all that was still needing to be discovered. And 2) How are your speedruns coming along? I remember you saying a framerate issue was stopping you from competing with the very best time for certain categories?

1) PC is completely broken at this point, but there are still minor things, right now people are working on more RNG manip for certain parts. The PS1 version however is still a 7 hour speedrun where most of the game is still played, so a lot of things could theoretically be found. 2) I held the WR's in Any% PC and NG+ PC at the same time last year, and am still on the top of the leaderboards for both. I plan on returning at some point to take at least the NG+ record back, but I'm working on Celeste and Mega Man 2 speedruns currently. You can see my previous WR's on my channel.

When I first ran across your videos I cant remember how many subs you had, but it wasnt much. Yall were strapped and were having trouble creating content while juggling work etc, if I remember. Now I see you have 81k subs. Im really happy for you.

When I was a kid once the bvuggy didnt got run down at cosmo canyon, it seemed to be just coming out of the buggy when the anymation triggered for the broken buggy

Watching this video, I got the hardest déjà vu of my whole life. I know for certain there has to be an easier way to skip Cosmo Canyon which is either something else entirely, or else I have done this very trick by chance 20 years ago which seems impossible. But, not knowing of any glitches or speedruns or anything, I was playing a normal game of final fantasy VII when I was 8 and Cosmo Canyon buggy breakdown did not happen, and I had to reset the game because my game had skipped a whole lot of story which I did not intend to. I was furious.

It was possible to happen "normally" just crazy meticulous for things to line up. I remember it happening long ago too, but nobody knew how it was done til years later when the original version of the skip was found. You can see here it's much more "natural", and even later after this they figured out how to just do it right at Cosmo Canyon, which is probably how it happened 20+ years ago.

Question: what happens if you go into Cosmo Canyon well after the buggy is supposed to break down? Do you sequence break and see what happens the first time you're there or does it just treat the game as if you've already been there?

I don't know if it's forced on PC, but the last few times I haven't needed to actually go to Cosmo Canyon, though I did anyway because casual playthrough. It lasted to Nibelheim. It could also have something to do with going to Gongaga, going to get Aerith's lvl4 Limit Break, I put in a ton of time just farming for all the Limit Breaks and Gold Saucer gold pass, or just PC version is much more forgiving on how many steps the buggy has before breaking down.

I haven’t watched any RPG speed runs, before, but don’t skips cause you to end up underleveled for mandatory boss encounters? I mean, I can see that stopping to grind is more time-efficient than working your way through a long story segment. You can cram in more battles to the same time, and level in a higher level area, so I guess that works out, but how many speed runners hit a brick wall like that at some point, where they’ve overextended and can’t level up for a fight?

Yep that's what makes it fun though and actually the exp from bosses in this game gives you plenty of levels for endgame , almost like it was designed that way

I've never thought a ton about the Gongaga area to be honest, it feels like the transition between the early and mid game, and it probably one of the more open areas in the game. I always liked how the optional Zack stuff in Gongaga is completely optional. In terms of being the turning point of the story, I can't say I agree, but I could also see the argument. I think the 3rd continent is where the game stops being an open adventure for Sephiroth and becomes more of a pointed goal of saving the planet.

Dude you should start doing an FF7 any% no slots grind. Would be great to see you tackle that mountain, surely you would be able to get a pretty decent time?

Can the steal materia be moved from a saved game file to the 1st reactor 1st save point or at the beginning of the game. I'm curious if it can be moved more farther before reactor 5 KOTR video you show us.

The earliest you can smuggle materia is the moment the materia menu is enabled, which is in 7th Heaven.

Skip is essentail, im already practicing my runs tho i need a proper pdf with the steps instead of following a 8-9hr tutorial thats outdated now.

Im not sure this skip is doable on the PS4 version of the game, which is odd because the original CC Skip had to be done on PS4 due to no encounters (until people learned world map manip). But either Im a micropixel off in my setup, or it just doesnt work because Ive been bashing my head against it for a couple hours now and I cant get it to work. Any ideas?

Are you moving with analog or directional. I wouldn't be surprised if using the analog stick to move was somehow messing with your inputs and giving off the illusion that you are moving diagonal during the skip.

@@sunnecas can’t be that because you can move diagonally with PS1 controller on the D pad. There must be a reason why no diagonal movement, something to do with an internal counter that triggers with diagonal movement and it messes up the set up. I’d like to see a more technical explanation of the glitch if possible

It's really cool all these found skipping methods but I just couldn't for the life of me skip the plot of Cosmo Canyon, or Calm. The story is what made this game so iconic - in my opinion. - And I woudln't want to miss any of it.

There's this runner called BrutalSpeed or BrutalAI, he essentially read and decoded the entire game and might be the most knowledgeable FF7 runner out there. The thing with Brutal though is that, he doesn't outright share secrets on how he found stuff cuz, he wants the community to figure out stuff themselves? He first posted the CC skip video 10-11 years ago lmao, but edited out the important details on how it was performed.

wait... why does the beach matter?

You guys are years behind, me and my buddies have been using the disc 2 skip since the early 2000s to get wicked times. All you need to do is put in the Konami code in during the cut scene where the holy materia bounces down the stairs in forgotten capital and it teleports you to the bottom of the stairs before the hojo battle on the sister ray. So much time saved!
