Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture. With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

That moment you look your son in the eyes and put your faith in him as a young man, then you get out the seat with your gut in faith and walk away with thoughts rushing though your head and then see them move off the spot then see them running it well. It just makes you wanna tear up being a proud father of your son becoming a young responsible man.

I was a troubled teen into drugs, street racing, and burglary. My parents sent me to help one of my dad's friends on his 600 acre cattle, pork, and grain farm in Alabama. I spent a growing season there. It turned me around pronto. I learned what it was to be a good person, what a work ethic was, and how rewarding struggle and hard work can actually be. Onyx is a respectable young man off to a great start.

This video is incredible. Truly. I've watched the videos for years. This one is the absolute best. Nothing special, no gimmicks. A father teaching the next generation with immense patience and pride. This video, in my opinion, is something that should be viewed by everyone and be stowed away so that it is saved. This video, albeit short relative to a lifetime of teaching, shows how your food is made and how the traditions and knowledge is passed on. This is one of the most incredible videos I've ever watched. Thank you Johnson family for all that you do.

Not gonna lie I cried during this video because it brought back so many memories of my grandfather teaching me to drive a tractor at 7 years old in the fields. I dumped my first load of hay at 9 off of a flatbed truck he had mounted blocks to the gas and break pedals so I could reach them. Thank you for bringing those memories flooding back to me today! So many life lessons for me at that age farming a small farm in Georgia … I just recently bought that land back from the bank during a foreclosure! This might be your greatest video ever! Thank you

My father died when I was 4 so I pretty much had to rely on my neighbors to teach me everything Zach is teaching Onyx. I have since passed those things along to my son when he was very young and who is 33 and has a family of his own. Something that did come to mind was the family across the road from us who basically treated me like one of their own. They were like parents to me. The wife was buried last week and the husband about a year ago. Watching this reminds me of the neighbor that taught me to me teaching my son.

What a Blessing it is to have encouraging parents. My parents have been gone for years. They always encouraged me, but never criticised me. You and Becky are doing a swell job as parents. Your patience may very well be the deciding factor whereby Onyx and his sisters pursue farming once they get a little older.

Oh my goodness this video made my heart full. We were reared on a dairy farm and by the time we were 11 and 12 we each had mastered milking cows, plowing , bailing hay, raising baby calves, cooking, and caring for the vegetable garden. We worked like adults and it set us all up to be productive adults. These instructions will sever your child more than anything you could do for them. Good jobs Mom and Dad!

Such an amazing job parenting. So many kids are engulfed in electronics tied to a t.v. I remember learning to drive my first car when I was 9 years old down the old dirt roads. My dad said you’re going to learn someday so today is no better a day to learn and put me in the seat. I was smiling ear to ear. I love seeing the pride you have with your children. Do you ever have those moments of don’t tell your mother with your son? I experienced that a lot. The bond with my dad was so strong.

Love the video. Bring back memories of farming with my grandfather. I was 8 when I started driving a tractor. 12 when I first drove a combine...Now, when you get both of the kids taught how to run the equipment. You can just drive around and yell at everyone! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Or go down to the local restaurant and set Allday shooting the breeze...

Nothing better than teaching the kids the family business. Starting driving pick-ups at 8 years of age. By the time I was thirteen, I was driving anything with an engine on the farm. All that experience would help me later when I went on to drive ambulances and fire engines.

For my 14th birthday, I wanted to skip school and disk soybean stubble ahead of planting winter wheat. I was on an early model JD 4020 with no cab or canopy. It was cool and breezy. But I was on top of the world. Thank you Zack and Becky for allowing us to follow the beginning of the training before the transition...

When you hand over the 'con' to your son, its a huge leap of faith. When it all works out, its testament to the teaching you have done, and the learning he has done. Then he will improve on it 😎. Go Onyx! Well done young man 👍. And well done Dad, you're getting nearer that time when you can take it easier.....as you say;" the machines aren't that expensive" 🤪😂 Brilliant video both of you, brilliant. Thanks!
