Higher usage limits, for one thing. They said Plus users get up to 5x more messages than Free, and the OpenAI website says the limit for ChatGPT Plus users is 80 messages every 3 hours. So if both of those are accurate, then Free users only get ~16 messages every 3 hours, which can be pretty limiting depending on what you're trying to use it for. Also, most likely, when GPT-5 comes out, only Plus users will get access to that, at least initially, just like how only Plus users had access to GPT-4 while free got only 3.5 up till now.

Paid $600 for 2 team users annual package in March. So - will I get 4.5 or Sora in the paid version or I've just wasted money? :) I think since now OpenAI will have huge difficulties convincing users to pay. Now everybody will be waiting and expect to get everything for free.

The benefit to paid users atm is saving 20 bucks for us but saves the company on energy for our usage since you stated it is 50% less energy for them so to shift some high users to free until they can roll out a new big LLM for paid users which I believe GPT5 was said to come out late 2024-early 2025? Not yet but that's probably coming real soon considering Sam Altman's philosophy of releasing things iteratively; this model by itself is step one, the next logical step is integrations with other systems. Maybe Siri is the first phase of that next step, if the rumors of Apple going with OpenAI as its AI partner are accurate.

The demo videos of the vision capabilities and voice assistant capabilities looked awesome, so like a mini jarvis in your pocket. Have a look at their official announcement blog, you can also share your computer screen with it and kind of work with it in real-time on ehat you are doing. That looks like it would definately be worth $20 for me, but well have to see...

It sucks.... no access to it, it redirects us to the old Chatgpt 3.5, and there is no Windows desktop application, couldn't even find a ChatGPT-4o app in the Apple store. By the way, some of these features will be paid features when you read the "fine print".

Dont cancel your subscriptions. Free users dont have access to gpt4o. At least i dont. They said its "free" but we dont have it yet.

It is impressive but it also is chat gpt’s weakness imo. 1) it immediately shows what is the level of AI capabilities to competitors but the key failure is this 2) there is no integration with with phone or it’s apps. The demo showed an incredible Ai that is becoming an incredible assistant but it won’t be able to integrate with your mails, photos, internet browser, camera or anything. Think of this level of AI in the form of Siri who can talk back and integrate with all apps. This literally becomes obsolete when it comes to mobile phone integrations and majority of the world including the developing world are mobile phones

You're mostly correct, sure, but if the rumors can be believed, this is about to change soon... the timing of the release of this more powerful and capable model is interesting when you think about the fact that Apple appears to be, allegedly, in the market for an AI partner that will most likely power their next iteration of Siri. Siri powered by GPT-4o would be a huge boon, because not only would it do all of the stuff we saw in the demo by itself, it being part of Siri means it'd also have access to everything Siri does such as doing all of the stuff you listed. This might be OpenAI's long term plan all along, if you think about what Sam said about them doing things iteratively; first is the the release of GPT-4o, then comes slight integration by having Siri powered by it, then comes integrations beyond just Siri. Makes sense to me. But I guess we'll see if I'm on the mark with any of this- they could totally just go with Google Gemini in the end, we don't know yet. 😛

Depends on what you're using it for and how many messages you send every 3 hours, I suppose. Going by the fact that they said Plus users get ~5x higher usage limit than Free and that the OpenAI website says the limit is 80 messages every 3 hours, then that means Free users get roughly ~16 messages with GPT-4o every X hours (quite possible also every 3 hours but it could be a higher reset timer too, who knows). Besides getting more tokens and real time voice , do plus subscribers get additional functionality. Coming in the future maybe. I think plus subscribers should get much more. Are more tokens and real time voice worth the $20. I feel like cancelling. SMH

paid GPT4.0 still has the 12/2023 knowledge cut off and GPT 4o cut off is 05/2023

Essentially paid users are paying for free users to get a massive upgrade - that sucks! Real time translation is not what paid users will use or are looking for.

Another upgrade we get as plus users is now we have 80 prompts per 3 hours with 4o. But we still only get 40 prompts per 3 hours with ChatGPT 4

In my experience, that has not been true. Claude 3's free version was making absolutely bizarre logic mistakes and strange typos. Opus was OK though. This may have changed since, but it pushed me over to Gemini.
