New cars cost TOO MUCH in 2024 // So I bought a Honda Mini Motorcycle!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

#Honda #Grom #hondagrom #hondamonkey #motorycle #savethemanuals
I just bought a #minimoto after almost spending over 10x as much on a new car. Here's my 2023 Honda Grom!
The undisputed emperor of the miniMOTO world and the spawner of a vibrant subculture of fun-seekers, Honda's Grom inspires a cross-demographic army of enthusiasts who embrace the diminutive model with remarkable passion. Its low seat height and approachability make it an unintimidating option for new riders to learn with, while its modular styling and peppy performance make it an entertaining plaything for experienced riders and a customization platform for those looking for an amusing project. It's no wonder that the Grom continues to be one of the powersports industry's most popular motorcycle models.
HISTORY
Since its 2014 model-year introduction, the Grom has always been about enjoyment, serving as an inspiration and focal point for riding clubs and social-media groups, while also supporting a healthy aftermarket of accessory and performance parts. Eliciting laughs from those who ride it, thumbs-ups from fellow motorists and traffic-light smiles from pedestrians, the Grom is also a motorcycling evangelist, spreading positive powersports vibes wherever it goes.
Introduced for the 2022 model year, the Grom's latest iteration features striking bodywork that facilitates customization, plus a peppy engine with a fifth gear. As always, the model boasts amazing gas mileage, low operating and maintenance costs, attention to detail and Honda's legendary reliability.
Importantly, the Grom's success has also served as the springboard for a trio of retro-themed miniMOTO siblings: the Monkey and Super Cub in model-year 2019 and the Trail 125 for model-year 2021.
DESIGN / STYLING
Now in its third iteration, the Grom sports pared-down styling with straight lines, a small subframe and thick seat padding (seat height is a low 30 inches). Best of all, the four main body panels quickly attach/detach, facilitating customization - a hallmark of Grom culture that is welcomed by customers eager to personalize their rides. The Grom's minimalist aesthetic is enhanced with by its blacked-out engine, exhaust, wheels and swingarm.
Practical features include an ample fuel capacity of 1.59 gallons, and the LCD digital dash has a gear-position indicator, alongside the speedometer, tachometer, twin trip meters, fuel gauge and clock.
ENGINE / DRIVETRAIN
The Grom's appeal is more than skin deep. The engine is a modern design that includes a fifth gear for comfortable cruising. The gear ratios not only provide peppy acceleration from low speeds, but good top speed as well.
The 125 cc two-valve, overhead-cam, air-cooled engine has a compression ratio of 10:1. This is achieved via an undersquare design, with a narrow bore and long stroke - specifically 50.0 mm and 63.1 mm, respectively.
State-of-the-art PGM-FI fuel injection assures optimal fuel delivery and highly efficient combustion. A large, 2.5-liter airbox houses a panel-type, wet-paper filter with a 10,000-mile life in normal riding conditions. Many Grom owners prefer to do their own maintenance, and a welcome feature is a replaceable oil filter.
Do-it-yourselfers also appreciate the exhaust downpipe and muffler, which are two separate parts for ease of replacement.
CHASSIS / SUSPENSION
The suspension comprises a 31 mm inverted fork and a single shock. The brakes feature a dual-piston front caliper with 220 mm disc, and a single-piston rear caliper with 190 mm disc. Wheels are a 12-inch cast design-a signature feature of the Grom - with a five-spoke pattern.
Of special note, the available front ABS system operates through an IMU (inertial measurement unit) to help prevent front-wheel lockup and keep the rear wheel down during aggressive braking.

You could've gotten an Onyx CTY2 or RCR for the same price as your Grom. No maintenance, no gas, no oil, no insurance, optional registration, optional rear rack so you can actually carry stuff and be a car replacement, same top speed. The only downside is the stock CTY2 battery's range isn't great when going car speeds, but you can upgrade that. But hey if you enjoy the crotch vibrations then more power to you, any 2-wheeler beats 4 in fun factor any day of the week.👍
