Well I’ve used the x2 and X3 which has way better screen than the x2 for windsurfing, Used in a dive case and also without which does produce better quality results but more risky if it scrapes on the lake floor in the shallows. Its beets the Go pro on the fact just hit record and forget and reframe what you want in shot afterwards if you don’t mind editing. The extra weight of the X4 is still a will it be ok on the end of a carbon pole as X3 is smaller and lighter. My footage is on here if want to see X3 windsurfing usage. Love watching your content and interested to see how you get on with X4 🥳🥳

Hi Ben, K4 absolutely still do their harness mount, now straps on to your harness rather than bolt through, just got one recently and am well impressed, good and solid. And I think you'll find insta360 say not to use their belt in watersports! Talk to Steve at K4.... Also, I've been using the stick on lens covers on my X3, already saved my camera as I scratched one across the rocks in the waves. I so wish they'd give us a little loop for attaching a safety leash!

Ben, nice video. I keep postponing buying a 360 camera because they are not providing replaceable lenses. However, as you mention if these caps work well i might threat myself to one. Keep us posted. And upload a full 8k video so we can tell is is any good. Nice review again!

Thanks and will do.. on the 8k: As far as I know you never get full 8k... unless I guess you put up the actually 360 view. But having 8k in 360 view lets you get a 4k video for the format KZread does.

Fun video. Looking to buy x3/4 so really interested to get your view on x4 benefits (battery, 8k..) against the drawback of the chunkier the size for windsurfing!

I've been using the venture case with my X. It is waterproof enougth for windsurfing, and it protect the lenses. Divecase is for diving lower than 10m...

I wish they managed to make it lighter instead of heavier - especially with it on an extension attached to a Flymount. I worry about it falling off. The other thing I notice about these cameras is they flatten out the water, you don't see the true ocean swell size as a GoPro. Still love the X3 and will consider the X4.

Hi Ben, Have you had the chance to test the dive case or the protective lences? I'd be keen to hear your feedback as I am tempted to buy a bundle but not sure whether it makes sense to buy the dive one. Cheers

The clear case for diving ..is just that…for diving. The camera by itslef underwater will have a distortion where the tow spheres are stiched together. The clear case eliminates that when underwater.

The dive case, is quite literally for diving, and allows you to take the camera deeper than the camera can go without one. I had one for the One X and I believe it could be used down to 30 m?? But as you say, doesn't have a use out of the water, becasue of the splashes on the case

Dive case becomes too hot with 20 degrees and sun, had it in the mast but stopped filming after 5 minutes.

new camera still dont have gps senor inside?

You are lucky, I use a lot the X3 and they don't send me a X4 😂

well don't sell the X3 just yet... my first test has not been that positive on the X4. But I'm just checking firmware and settings to make sure.

@@Ben-Proffitt I keep the X3. But I need a second one, may be the X4. I don't know about you but for me, now it's my third X3, they failed after 2 or 3 months of use. Fortunetly, they replace them quite quickly every time in warranty. But as the average of fail is so important, it's the reason why I need 2 🤣

Warning: DO NOT USE THE HARNESS MOUNT!!!! It will break! I lost almost my camera in the first session with it!!!!!!

experience with a telescopic stick in water, the first time you crush it, it will break, better if it is stiff.

@@Ben-Proffitt it will break in the thinnest place unless you stretch the whole thing, especially the thin ones . A non-telescopic one would be useful, but I don't know where to find such a thing, so I leave the camera on the mast.

The K4 mount just uses a section of slalom sail tubular batten.

Hi Ben, another great video 👏🏼👍🏼 I use the X2 for windsurfing and diving. But i will not buy x3 or x4. I'm missing the gps-data inside the cam. I wrote to insta, but i only get stupid answers. They wrote, the remote control is waterproof, but i can't find any other reference to it. Or i should use an Apple smartwatch 🤮😇 Sorry, no solution, my Garmin MK2i diving computer include a smartwatch. But whether with RC or Garmin or Apple, i have always annoying connection interruptions. Do you have these problems too? Or how did you solve them? You also said that you now need a powerful computer, which is also a disadvantage in my opinion. So far my smartphone has always been sufficient. All of this doesn't make the cam any better for me, on the contrary, in my opinion the latter is also a development for the worse. To the accessories from the perspective of the X2. The dive case is good, no problems, but dehumidifier pads are advisable under water because of the condensation. The lens guard and the lens protection are not suitable for windsurfing. Drops keep collecting underneath, more than without. I will try now anti water droplet gel from the visor of my motorcycle helmet. Maybe others can write about their experiences and solutions too.

The lens hoods are not waterproof, I have seen them on Instagram, including condensation 😡
