New Caledonia: Embracing the Timeless Kanak Way of Life | SLICE | FULL DOCUMENTARY

The film immerses us in Kanak culture and its traditional rain ceremony. During this event, people prepare masks, costumes, songs, dances, and speeches to honor their traditions.
In Kanak culture, the earth is revered as a source of life, often referred to as "mother-earth" or "mother-nature." The Kanak people believe they belong to the land and hold it in great respect. The land does not belong to the people; instead, the people belong to the land. In Kanak cultural and food practices, yam holds central importance. This tuber deeply influences the community's traditions throughout the year, playing a key role in ceremonies, trades, weddings, and other significant events. Water is essential for growing yams, along with fertile soil, which is also associated with women's fertility and various rain rituals.

France does not deserve la Nouvelle Calédonie. It should leave the territory. Beautiful documentary.

It goes back to the doctrine of Discovery of the Catholic Church by Pope Alexander VI in 1493. Christians were allowed to go around the world and steal the land of non Christians. "the Catholic faith and the Christian religion be exalted and be everywhere increased and spread, that the health of souls be cared for and that barbarous nations be overthrown and brought to the faith itself." It has been rescinded in May 2023 but the mindset is everywhere and is called white male supremacy...

More relevant than ever in view of what is happening in Kanaky these days and the will of Macron to destroy whatever he touches whether there or in France itself. Respect to Kanak people,.
