    That Spire had my eye for sure, but for me 150 is plenty enough. Even though the travel numbers don’t seem like a big jump from the Hightower, the Sentinel feels considerably more robust and burly and the suspension platform is better suited for bigger hits. I would worry the Spire would feel like overkill, but I haven’t had a chance to try both head to head, so that’s purely speculation.

  • @SemiSendy

    @SemiSendy

    2 жыл бұрын

    I have, and I'm curious to compare the two using more similar suspension set-ups. The sentinel feels like a better pedaling platform, and the seated climbing position is more comfortable to me. On the descents, the megatower is a touch more snappy on the handling in the tighter stuff, while the sentinel is a little more confidence inspiring on the steep tech. It would be nice to put both head to head with the same components to see how they really shake out.

    Transition make some great bikes! If I had not bought my Wreckoning, I would have been looking at the Sentinel or maybe the Spire (or the new Cannondale Jekyll). Nice parts selection too! Very similar to my Wreckoning build (Code RSC with with HS2's , Zeb Ultimate, PUSH 11/6, X01 cassette, GX AXS, PNW loam grips). Although I went with the NOBL TR37 carbon wheels with i9 101 hub's which I really like for the $$ and went X01 carbon cranks because I wanted to try them out and went with OneUp 180mm dropper.

    @@johnfinelli8727 the SC engineering is second to none, and those frames and linkages are incredibly solid and well thought out. re: the i9 hoops, they are using We Are One to produce them, but their warranty isn't as smooth of a process as going directly through We Are One. They require the rims be removed and sent in for inspection first before they move forward, which adds some up front time and effort and delays resolution. That steered me away from going with their labeled option. I'm really happy with the WAO Strife's on my DH bike though, and you are getting that same quality with the i9's! Going to bash on the SX310's for a while and definitely will follow up with my thoughts on them.

    Thanks, Forest! I’m a big fan and of OneUp in general, but I’m Not entirely sold on the bars. I’m running them on my Ranger, and I’ve not found them to be particularly compliant. I also feel like optimizing the roll based on the head tube angle for compliance means that I’m compromising on my preferred roll position in general. I’ve also seen a decent number of them break, which gives me pause for sure. These deity’s are their DH layup, and I thought I’d give them a go after hearing a lot of people speak highly of them.
