New, Beautiful, Heavy! Dura Ace RT-CL900

Спорт

Since it was time to swap brake pads to the new L05A, I took the opportunity to swap the rotors as well... the new second generation Dura Ace rotors, RT-CL900 was release just a week ago, so had to try!
This is mostly use it as an excuse to make another descending video though 😇

It's funny how stupid people are, and what I mean is: many look that lighter rotor is better(cuz it cost a lot), but actually brakes work the way that Rotor absorbs energy by heating up and it's mass, yes - mass, directly related to the temperature they get. So if you put a 50gr rotor, it'll get burned twice faster than the 100gr. Here adds up a cooling, but it's a secondary value, not primary

A few days ago I've installed Galfer wave road rotors, replacing my MT800 rotors. They are 10g lighter at each size. After few rides with also new pads, they perform perfectly, maybe even a bit better. One big difference is, after heavy breaking when they become hot, they don't start ticking like with Shimano, when you need to wait for cooling down. For me 👍 Galfer rotors.

You want more weight in your discs, gives thermal buffer, preventing overheating and therefore warping. It's physically impossible to have a disc that's ultra light that won't overheat from braking and deform eventually.

My impressions are pretty useless as I’m not really a power user, definitely check GPlama and The rainmaker for all the details. All I can say is I looooooove the battery life, it’s insane how good it is taking into account all the functionality. The solar charging is a sweet bonus. I always hated the touchscreen garmins in the past but this has not given me any issues this far. I still wish they would put buttons at least for changing screens but, I’m pleasantly surprised with the touch screen. It is humongous though, and if they make a 540/840 with same battery life I would probably sell the 1040 and switch to that.

(i noticed the screwdriver head on the disc pad retaining bolt) I just recently swapped out my GRX calipers for a new set of Ultegra calipers from the 12 speed groupset. The extra width in the pad spacing also seems to help with stopping any disc rub. Also got a spare set of Campagnolo Ekar rotors to try. About the "pulsing" through the lever because of an uneven rotor surface - does cleaning mean sanding down the rotor?

Lovely video! TelL me more about the bikes - seems like the trek has been relegated and the Allied has been pimped out with road wheels. Do you just plain prefer it over the trek? Also need to pick your brain on how to get my titanium disc bike (Baum) lighter - love the bike but it’s sooo heavy.

I'd say I've ridden both the same amount this summer.... It's just the recent videos focus on the Echo more since that is still evolving unlike the Trek that has more or less reach its peak in terms of build. when it comes to weight saving, check this video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/Y5yA07yknNfUqsY.html

Can you recommend any Breaks with 6 hole mounting? I cant see any compatibility in the dura ace series here.

6hole or center lock doesn’t matter, as long at it’s the correct diameter you can use them with dura ace or other disc groups. I personally use carbon-ti x-rotor with DA9270

@@ridesofjapan That is a big step up in my Breaking game. Usually I use a Shimano SM-RT56 Bremsscheibe (Deore) 6-Loch in the front and some Rim Breaks in the rear. It is a bit on the heavy side but never failed and only needed to be replaced once every few years. I doubt that these carbon rotors really last very long or could stop riders that are big and tall.

The best rotors actually, the lightest and best modulation is the Ashima Ai2 you find on Ebay and Aliexpress. Warping Shimano rotors are crap in every way and probably contributed to the anti discbrake movement.
