NEW battery tech could change the world

Scientists at Argonne National Laboratory are trying to build the perfect battery.
Lithium-ion batteries are the gold standard, but there is much progress to be made. For example, one improvement would be to create solid-state batteries in order to eliminate the need for the flammable electrolyte that is inside lithium-ion batteries.
Solid-state batteries also could have three times the energy density of lithium-ion batteries, which might allow things like electric flight.

If it’s made with cobalt, children, slave, labor, are mining it. Every cell phone, every EV battery, etc. has cobalt in it. I’m not against the very best battery that can be made but at what cost?

Cheap labor baby. This is why I support raising the minimum wage worldwide. So that when the child laborers get freed we have a failsafe in case those companies decided to jack up the prices. Oh yeah, cap executive bonuses while we're at it.

Can the scientists work out how to recycle these batteries first … please.

Exactly , because in li ion battery there are some toxic elements like cobalt and nickel ,and it can pollute our drinking water so we should focus on if battery packs dead then we can recycle them ( circular system) Lead acid batteries can be recycled almost 100%(98%)

If you all going to complain about poluting waters look at the plastic products your using daily cause they're they're main source of water pollution and affects water wild life which is the fish you're eating 🗿

We are close to going to mars but we have WORSE batteries than the 90’s. Remember the Duracell ones you could check the gauge of power on??? Revolutionary. Useless. But still. Since then we have had the same batteries.

Oh, yeah yeah! Putting batteries in everything! Let's do this! Oh, better idea: Let's make *everything* battery-powered, let's replace mass transit with private autonomous cars and then privatize everything. Great!!! 😑🙄😒
