i know this is a wee bit late but...ive just did this on my honda, with a stock alt,and its completely HELPED!no more clipping, and shut downs from lack of amperage.no more dimming lights even at night with headlights on.instead of spending on a bandaid fix(capacitor),spend money on your charging system.1 800 cold crank battery is equal to a 100 farad cap... now i did this with an old deep cycle ,0 gauge and a 20 dollar isolator.less then 100 bucks and im very happy with the outcome.it worked 4 me

why would you run 2 power runs from the B+? Wouldnt one run and a distrobution block be a better choice?

Ground to the “body” & the “frame” are the same thing, big homie. You need both battery & alt grounded to the CHASSIS (body/frame/same difference) & then to the engine block. My car 2008 Ford Fusion SE is grounded, battery to block, stock. I added 0 gauge to that, then again from battery to CHASSIS, then from alternator to engine block, & of course hot from battery to alternator. Side note: if you’ve ever felt like you’re experiencing engine hesitation or “stalling” or maybe just RPM gauge is bouncing around when you’re sitting at a red light, try making a run from your battery ground to the stud on your throttle body. I saw a post in a (my car) forum about it, tried it, & couldn’t believe the difference. I mean, I’d be trying to get up to speed when coming off an on ramp to the interstate & my car was hesitating 2-3 whole seconds from the time I press the gas pedal until it registered & when i ran a 4 gauge from battery to throttle body, there was absolutely 0 hesitation. Now, I’m not saying it increased my horsepower or any of that fairy tale malarky, but it made a very significant difference. I’d go so far as to say that the throttle body thing probably did more good than the entire big 3 (4) upgrade as far as overall noticeable difference because my big 4 upgrade did erase about .8 to 1.0 worth of voltage drop, but did basically nothing as far as engine hesitation so you might want to look into that. Come to find out, a couple Mazda boys would’ve been sitting in the emergency lane without it, but I ain’t gonna get in to all that, I’m just saying, think about it.

Caps are great for filtering noise, but that's pretty much where the line gets drawn. Using them for overdraw issues is like putting a bandaid on a shark bite... but you knew that already :D Great vid btw. I refer a lot of ppl to this when I talk about doing the Big 3 to their cars/trucks

A shock tower bolt is a far better body/frame ground than where you have it. Also, your alternator connected ground may work, however you have a joint with the block than can add resistance. Directly to block is the best.

smaller gauge is bigger, 0 gauge wire is about 4 times bigger than 8 gauge. 0 gauge and 4 gauge are common sizes for amp power/ground wires and 8/10 gauge are common sizes for speaker wire

Using two different colors for the ground and the positive leads reduces you chance of making a fatal electrical error. While it may not be fatal to you it will be fatal to your electronics. I also noticed that you ran a round body to frame ground when you should have run a braided ground. With the braided ground you will reduce or eliminate RF (Radio Frequency) interference and reduce the need for filters on your electrical systems. It will also save you from having problems with your vehicles computer as they are subject to problems when RFI is present.

I know it has been awhile since you posted this and idk if you fixed the problem but I help if you didn't or just in case someone else also needs the info. Did you run your power wire and RCAs to close together? Make sure you connections are secure to the amp. Also check the ground on the radio. Check the ground on the frame where you have your amp grounded. Make sure there is no paint or clear coating. Also it may not be a great spot to ground it.I hope these tips help.

piss them of and run a "red" wire for ground full length from the alternator to the back. I run straight back power and ground. I also have the vehicle grounded all over. My truck has aluminum roof and floors so there's .46 ohms or resistance between body and frame. That was before I added ground all over. Now in mega ohms its 0.003 ohms resistance after. Also I have learned allen wrench screw downs make heat spots. Use "lugs" that are soldiered on not crimped. Well take care have a good day

@gees97 electrical current always takes the travel of least resistance, just like lightning hits the tallest objects around, therefore when you attach a wire along with a factory wire, the factory wire is virtually useless, but the reason we keep the factory wire is to avoid altering the vehicle as much as possible,so that if you decide to remove what you have done there is no rewiring factory components they are already there, now for the big 3,2 of the 3 wires are grounds, the other power cont..

I won't run anything but ofc.. use welding cable even, big difference in the power it can carry, plus the ofc don't get hot when running big systems like the cca does

Is the alternator bigger than stock? If not seems a bit overkill all that wire, I can appreciate having a bigger main cable to a second battery ( have one in my van like that) and a secondary improved earth between the engine block and earth, but does feel like you went a bit overkill on the cable.

@gees97 so only one would have any risk of affecting anything at all and i have heard of anyone having any real issue unless they just did something wrong, you can fuse the power wire if you want but if something goes wrong you will fry your alternator either way,if you don't fuse it you risk your battery and maybe more but factory wiring is normally always fused and not really at any risk if installed properly, but to have a high power system if you don't take these risks you wont have any reward

Red Top is the worst one you could go with for car audio or other things. it isnt a deep cycle battery, its only good for starting your vehicle and nothing else. So unless your alternator powers absolutely everything, i woulda went yellow top optima. Otherwise, everything looks clean and nice. I like it.

@Mississippiking03 WET CELL ACTUALLY HAS ELECTROLYTES THAT KEEP THE LEAD PLATES IN IT WET AND TURN INTO ACID AND ENERGY WHEN CHARGED LIKE A BATTERY IS A DRY CELL,OR A GEL CELL USE A DIFFERENT PROCESS AND DON'T DISCHARGE AS FAST WHICH MAKES THEM HAVE HIGHER AMP HOURS AND LAST LONGER THEREFORE MAKING THEM BETTER FOR A CAR AUDIO APPLICATION AND JUST ABOUT ANYTHING ELSE,WHICH IS WHY THEY ARE EXPENSIVE,IF YOU GET ONE GO WITH XS POWER OR KINETIC THEY ARE THE BEST IN THE INDUSTRY

@M0NEYM0VES YOU CAN FUSE THE POSITIVE RUN FROM THE ALTERNATOR TO THE BATTERY IF YOU WANT, SOME LIKE TO SOME DONT,FACT IS IF YOU FUSE IT AND HAVE A MALFUNCTION YOUR ALTERNATOR IS GONE ONE WAY OR THE OTHER,IF YOU DONT THE MALFUNCTION COULD BLOW THE BATTERY UP,BUT I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF ONE,AS FOR THE REST OF THE WIRES THEY ARE ALL GROUNDS AND HAVE NO EFFECT ON THE CURRENT ONLY MAKES YOUR POWER TRANSFER STRONGER,AS FOR THE STOCK WIRES LEAVE THEM AS IS JUST ADD YOU 0GA TO IT

Should’ve got a deep cycle or an AGM. my new battery is 860 cca(mca) 105 amp hours & was only $104.99 @ O’Reilly’s. Buying those “XS Power” & “Kinetic” batteries is like buying Snap-On socket sets when the Harbor Freight special does the same thing. Hell, they both have a lifetime warranty so why pay quintuple the amount when the XS Power batteries are $154.99 for 20 amp hours? To be more direct on your question, regular lead acid batteries are made for cranking, specifically cranking in cold weather, hence the term CCA Cold Cranking Amps, whereas Deep Cycle & AGM batteries are made for high amounts of current over a much longer period of time. The only thing that REALLY matters when it comes to choosing between AGM & Deep Cycle is how many amp hours you get for the price. An AGM MIGHT help keep your voltage from dropping &/or draining for long rides on a stock alternator, but if you have a high output alt then go with a deep cycle (800 amps or better) they a lot cheaper.

An alternator dumps the (-V) to the case. The path to the primary ground is further away than going from the case to a second ground.

@Bshizzle88FI4Life hmm, you need to look into your research better, the big three is only noticable when you upgrade your alternator and battery..doing the big three when all your parts are stock is like upgrading from 8 gauge wire to 0 gauge for your 100 watt amp..which imo is useless..so yea do more research !

@@jimdavidson5208 its either ofc oxygen free copper or cca copper clad aluminum. Proper car audio wire is ofc, se as welding cable and battery cable, but xar audio cable usually has finer strands making a higher strand count, welding cable is super close..

@freesexyew Do some research. High end audio equipment uses lots of caps. So to say that car audio systems dont need caps is a bunch of BS!!!!! To say they do nothing is a bunch of bs. First off they help reduce noise. (if you have subs you cant hear it cuz ur crossover) Second of all a cap helps from voltage drops and will discharge and recharge faster than any battery. Caps also save alternators. Puts less strain on the system. There is a vid on youtube. Watch it. Taught me a lot.

Devin Bitz caps are not the first option. Caps are nothing but a bandage on an open wound. First thing that should be done is ALWAYS a big 3/4 upgrade. Anyone that knows audio and electrical knows this. Caps won't solve your issues long term.
