New Batman vs Old Batman - Rolex GMT Master II 126710BLNR Review
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Hi Guys,
Having seen the new Rolex Batman GMT Master II Ref. 126710 BLNR at Basel world 2019, I thought I’d share my thoughts on it. And compare it with the Batman Mk I, the GMT Master II 116710BLNR.
Batman on Jubilee vs Batman in Ouster Bracelet.

My gahd man, wear your Batman for Pete’s sake! It’s too clean!
I actually love the jubilee better - it hides scratches way easier and actually it’s more comfortable. It’s a great move from Rolex to make the GMT more unique and different then a submariner for example. The new movement is a plus adder 👌🏻
I’m going to say the jubilee actually looks nice. Though the oyster on my Blnr I’ve come to love. Hate the scratches that show up but then it’s still classy.
I wasn’t really a fan of the jubilee bracket until I saw it on the new 2019 Batman. I think it looks fantastic.

Agree 100% slam dunk home run on Jubilee!! IMHO
It seems clear now that Rolex are going to make the GMTs stand out from the Subs by changing the bracelet to jubilee. That way to make it stand out from both the explorer, subs and Daytona’s .
I really like your breakdown of the information. Thank you!
Great 👍🏻 vid as always Adrian! Nice analysis! Cheers buddy, Hisham.
In my humble opinion, I think the new Batman on Jubilee is beautiful! From the moment I saw its launch at Baselworld, I loved it. You mentioned that the Black and Blue makes the watch “sporty” which doesn’t go so well with the sophisticated look of the jubilee bracelet. I disagree. I think the black and blue on the jubilee does give it a more sophisticated/dressier look, but it’s not a misfit. Perhaps this just boils down to preference. Then again, what do I know??? I’m no expert.

Regardless of looks, the new movement has ceramic bearings on the rotor as well as longer power reserve. The new movement is a bigger deal than you think.
Thank you for another excellent video Adrian :)
Another good vid. Great channel 👍
Still loving your videos and your takes on what Rolex is doing! Keep up the great work! We all appreciate it.
I personally prefer the look on the jubilee bracelet. I never really liked the combination of blue and black but it seems to work better on the jubilee. But thats just my opinion. Love your videos! Looking forward to all your content from Baselworld!

Hey Adrian, love what youre doing with this channel! Depending on your Rolex service centre, if you're not a fan of the polished centre links on your batman, they can brush them out for you, and its totally reversible in the future If your not a fan, would you get it done?
I love it on the jubilee but it’s great to get your perspective. Awesome channel - thanks 👊
Great video as always
Love this channel hope to see you next year in Basel.
Hi I was in Piccadilly London looking in the Rolex AD by Burlington Arcade they had some yacht Masters 1 and 11 . Are the shop windows magnified as the 40mm looks like a 43mm and the 42mm like a 46mm .Also in the Arcade the vintage Rolex shop the subs and gmt look the same 43mm .When I owend a sub it look small on me when I look down at THE watch on my wrist. Is this a optical illusions
Love the authentic comments and reviews. Thanks for the NATOs, quality products

I'm the rare Batman Mk1 owner who's not thrilled with this. I bought my Batman in October/November and I bought it to be my daily wear watch. I expected that in 30 years it might be a 20k+ watch, I didn't really expect it to become one 18-24mos after buying it. I'm not going to be super comfortable with it as daily wear if it keeps climbing. I may try and get my hands on a Pepsi and if the Pepsi keeps falling and the Batman keeps climbing I may end up in the odd position of feeling more comfortable wearing a Pepsi day to day (assuming I can get one anytime soon) than the Batman. Who could've imagined that being the case 11 months ago?
OYSTER is nicer, but that's the one I have so I'm biased.

Hiya Adrian, any chance your NATOs will be coming out in 18mm? Some of my favourite watches are in 18mm and it would be great to wear them on the B&J Natos. Thanks!

Is it possible to put an oyster on the new BLNR? (exchange blnr jubilee with oyster gmt 2 black)
I love the jubilee bracelet, but not on the batman
Would love to see an update video of your thoughts on this, thanks keep up a great channel!
I like the new Batman, it looks smart.
Fun looking back at these vids, now knowing what we know.
The jubilee looks super stylish on the GMT Batman! Less a muscle watch and more a quality timepiece!! Don’t forget, as you noted about the jubilee on the Pepsi....It looks awesome and classy, also because we’re used to it ;-)
Hey when will your website be back up and running? Keen to order a strap or two
After Basel I put the 17 cheapest Batman on a watchlist. It took 8 days until 12 were sold. Prices between 13‘000 and 14‘500€
I actually like the Batman on the jubilee, I have it on oyster already and it’s actually selling for 13.5k here in the states.
Jubilee bracelets are much more comfortable and do not show scratches, etc. So I think the new Batman is an improvement and looks more like a tool watch which was its first iteration.
Rolex is not interested in sporty anymore. They’re going full Panerai. It’s all about bling and status now. The two tone sea dweller is a better indicator of this.

So I am a blue collar worker, I’m a maintenance mechanic for a distribution company and work on their equipment. Well, I like mechanical watches. You have no idea how many times I’ve broken a seiko. I bought a submariner a couple years ago and it hasn’t given me some single problem. It doesn’t stop due to shock, it doesn’t run fast due to magnets, it runs within its 2 sec a day, being ceramic and sapphire the only thing showing any scuffs is the stainless. It’s been a fantastic watch, I absolutely love it. I wouldn’t want an aluminum bezel. I also love the bracelet and it’s quick adjustment. So I dunno if it’s “bling” it’s just a really really well built watch that day after day still looks nice and is very satisfying to own.
I don’t see why a simple bracelet change is seen as the end of the world by some folks. Yes, I too prefer the oyster bracelet, but I also think the new caliber 3238 represents an upgrade that keeps Rolex sports models on the cutting edge of mechanical watch technology. I’d have no problem wearing this new watch, although I did decide against selling my 116610LN Sub just to get one. I should also mention that I recently purchased a Datejust 41 (Rolesor) and chose it with an oyster bracelet.
@timur9429

David you know whats funny.. I collect the 4 Digit Models and its funny to see how the bracelets shifted from Datejust to GMT and the other way around. So to see more and more Datejusts on Oysters and GMTs on Jubilees is very different for me.

I don’t think Rolex sports models are cutting edge at all in the modern day. Rolex clearly don’t care about that anymore hence why they are putting jubilee bands on GMTs.

possibly because rolex thought it was a good idea to put jubilee with an oyster clasp on their 40+mm watches and discontinue the jubilee's hidden clasp...
Agree. Thanks!
I love the jubilee much more. I feel that the jubilee will hide the scratches much better than the oyster with PCL. Now if it came with the brushed oyster with glide lock, we would have a different situation.

Also the Batman jubilee with resale for much more when released than the Batman oyster.
I love the jubilee bracelet and I love the Batman so now I like it even more!
Is the new case not meant to be a bit slimmer? Was it not noticeably so?
Thoughts on the Black GMT Master 2? Will the market price for these keep on going up, or do you think they will eventually stop increasing? It's already a "belief" that Rolex will reintroduce the black in 2019, with the new movement and jubilee bracelet, but who the hell really knows what Rolex will do anyways haha.
100% agree. Jubilee does not match. Old Batmans will skyrocket
You're absolutely right .
I really like it. I think both look great. When the dust has settled everyone will start appreciating the new one
love your channel, i have the batman I'm glad i bought it 5-6 months ago. not being biased but I'm not a fan of the jubilee on the watch it works on the pepsi which I'm not a fan of the bezel but it works. the batman looks too much
Last year, did they not say that the jubilee/oyster would not be interchangeable?
I was informed by an AD that the jubilee braclet would'nt fit my origianal Batman (2015). The attachment at the lugs is basically a jigsaw piece and they have made them slightly different. Really good channel BTW.
Agree with regards to the mismatch of the bracelet.
I have the new 126715CHNR and love the fact that it has the latest and greatest Rolex movement ... what's inside the Rolex matters as much as what's out side... too maybe buyers focus on the look, bezel color, etc..
Should I get the Mark 1 or Mark 2?
Hey Adrian, I was happy to see you at Baselworld. Although it's watch enthusiast heaven it does seem stressful if you're there for business. I enjoyed your coverage. Best regards, Sir Willie Stroker
I absolutely love it. Classy meets sporty. But I like it either way.

I believe that the case on the new batman uses different holes for the springbar placement. This intro'ed with the SS BLRO and prevents folks putting an oyster on the when it was released. Hence, it's the same case as the BLRO with a different face, GMT hand and bezel.
Adrian, I think I’m right in saying that due to a slight change in the alignment of the pins in the lugs, the jubilee and oyster bracelets are NOT interchangeable, ie you can’t put a jubilee on a “mark 1” Batman and vice versa with the oyster on a “mark 2”
I think polished centre links look better on the jubilee, plus it’s a nod to the 1970s GMT pieces...
Batman on jubilee looks great, I don’t think the oyster Batman will be going for the massive premiums people are trying to charge right now in a year.
@karlomcastro
5 жыл бұрын
That's the logical thing... the older 116710BLNR should be dropping back near to it's original retail price with the newer 126710BLNR going way over list. However, the reverse is happening. The older Batman keeps going up in value. Does it make sense? Probably not but the unfulfilled demand is/was just too high and being a discontinued model, it will only get harder and harder to get. Same thing happened with the discontinued Kermit... sells for a lot more compared to the Hulk. Cheers!
@justinh1258
5 жыл бұрын
karlo castro True, with the exception of it being truly discontinued. Sure the reference number is discontinued, but the blue and black GMT is still available and being made from Rolex with a better movement and different bracelet. The oyster Batman won’t go for as much as the jubilee eventually, these damn flippers are just doing what they do and using any excuse to try and screw people out of more money, even though the excuse for the premium should only be “supply and demand” vs it being discontinued.
@karlomcastro
5 жыл бұрын
@@justinh1258, it will be interesting to see how much these two "batman" references are selling 2 or 3 years from now. Surely both will be hard to get at retail (or at least close to it) for mere mortals. What I'm really looking forward with Rolex is an updated (and hopefully not just the new 3235) Sub line! It's way overdue imho. It's great interacting with a fellow watch fan. Cheers!
@justinh1258

karlo castro Yeah, there will definitely be premiums but I have a feeling the oyster Batman is wayyy overhyped right now and a poor buy. There will be some people getting burned for sure, wait till next year for one is my opinion. Especially not if they introduce the coke next year.
I do love that tiny crown on the new model but agree the oyster is better. Slightly off-topic, but here goes.... do you think Tudor will eventually do a Batman and how would it look?
I NEED this watch!!! still waiting two going on three years later!
I kind of like the Jubilee bracelet. It depends on your age. Perhaps younger people like the Oyster bracelet more.
I managed to secure my Oyster Batman back in January. Very happy cos I do prefer it to the mk2 due to the bracelet change.
I’m glad iv got oyster bracelet batman I loved then and still do now ... i’ve got the jubilee bracelet on my Pepsi I don’t need it on my Batman too ......
I think you should always have the choice between the oyster and jubilee bracelet (assuming you're buying direct form Rolex). With that being said, I MUCH prefer the Jubilee over the Oyster bracelet. That's just me. But the Oyster bracelet definitely looks better on models like the explorer and the milgauss.
The hype about the Batman-1 will ends next year when Rolex introduce the option of oyster bracelet. When Rolex does that the Batman-1 price will sink down.
Do you still have your Batman? I read a comment on another vid of yours and it mentioned you flipping it. I didn’t see a video on it tho? Unless I missed something...

Yeah I think that looks cool.
Jubilee and two-tone bezel seems to be the new norm to define modern GMT stainless steel line these days.. No more confusion between GMT and submariner. I suspect that the days of a blk/blk/blk (LN) are forever behind, as it is also clear that 2 tone bezel were more loved. But the LN was also the 50th anniversary GMT with it's GMT green hand and green line, and in time it will probably sell for the same, if not more, than the much loved BLNR mk1 (on oyster), which is a beautiful watch; and now has become an instant "classic". I for one, like the BLNR on the jubilee as a concept Rolex is adopting, even though the original BLNR is the one we are all more used to see, and tend to love more for that very reason. Good video!
