    This update made a great stability shoe basically a neutral shoe with minimal arch support.

    @@RoadTrailRunI have the Nimbus 26, 880, and 1080. However, I really enjoy the light stability in this shoe and as of now, I like it more than the 880v14.

    Can tell you know your stuff based on some things you mentioned in the video. I agree w what you said as well and liked the feel of the 860 V14 a lot as an all day any day shoe for neutral to slight pronate.

    Is this one as soft as the nb 880 v14? Love that one but actually I need more stability I think

  • @RoadTrailRun

    @RoadTrailRun

    2 ай бұрын

    The top layer is softer, the lower layer is about the same. Remember that there is also the Stability Plane plate in the mix which along with the more (than 880v14) vertical medial side walls provides the difference in stability, That said the stability is more mellow in feel anyway than a traditional posted shoe.

    Which do you think would be better for a heavier person? This or the 880v14

    If you have higher volume foot 860 although wides are also available in 880. For weight despite being softer I still think 860 is potentially better

    How does the midsole compare to the 1080 V11? I read the 1080 V13 is quite soft, maybe these are a nice successor for the V11 Thx.

  • @RoadTrailRun

    Maybe a touch softer than 1080 v11 but helped by stability plane for sure. I too found v13 overly soft and mushy. Not so in 860. Also if you are looking for a firmer Fresh Foam feel look at latest 880 v14. No plate and a bit firmer foam . Haven’t tested latest Vongo but it shares Stability Plane with v14. It is heavier, higher stacked with a 6mm drop vs 8mm and at $165 more expensive.

    Never tested unfortunately but here is some detail of the differences from our written 860 v14 review: "We have not tested the Vongo. It is a bit heavier as it is more shoe in terms of cushion stack. It has the same heel height as the 860 but with 2mm more upfront cushion as 6mm drop shoe. The Stability Plane is full length on both sides of the shoe unlike the 860's which is partial on the lateral side." www.roadtrailrun.com/2024/06/new-balance-fresh-foam-x-860-v14-multi.html

    Deciding between the 860 and 880. Really enjoyed the Prism v1. Also liked the Beacon v1 (had a nice heel counter and liked the rocker). Love mild stability shoes. Wear orthotics. Hearing this 860 is super soft and to consider 880. Foot is a medium width, but on narrower side. Which one to go with?

    @@RoadTrailRunthanks for the info. I'm seeing some reviews that are really canning the 880. Not sure what that is. It's sounding like the fit would be better on the 880. I did try the Vongo, and it's the first shoe I've ever worn where it actually forces my foot into pronation. I'd love to hear more about what you guys think about that EVA film that's being used for stability. Most of my friends who work in technical running shoe stores say that the 860 is very mushy.

    @@melindareiner9908 did you appreciate the vongo 6 forcing your foot into (under?)pronation? You are a mild overpronator? Sometimes in neutral shoes I feel like I want to correct myself from flat footedness/overpronation and angle my feet laterally to correct this myself when walking. I am thinking I will try the 860 and the vongo as they both are said to push you a little into underpronation (guide you laterally). Not sure if I want the shoe to do it yet or for me to do it consciously. Though when walking any distances it is too much effort to consciously do it each step.

    1080 very soft not very stable and I find mushy in comparison. 880 is firmer than 860. I think 860 a nice balance even for under pronation although for sure not neutral

    Very disappointed in the heel drop from 10 to 8mm. People who suffer from plantar fasciitis and who need very strong stability are getting increasingly limited choices. Guess its Brooks Beast for me.

    I have been wearing New Balance shoes for years. Lately those shoes are made in Vietnam to save costs. Unfortunately the quality is not the same as before! Very disappointed!!!
