I was born and raised in Chicago, but after working 12 years in the financial Industry regulating the futures and options markets at the CME/CBOT I decided to pursue my passion fishing professional tournaments and left my full time corporate job. At that point, I moved to Junction City, WI with my wife Sara and two boys Hank and Duke. I've been fishing professionally since 2011 and full-time since 2015. I've qualified for seven MLF Championships and won over a half million in tournament winnings at the professional level.

    Matt, I love this. I been fishing a bellos gill all summer long on a ewg super line hook. The glide is where it’s at. Just like a fluke, you get bit on the glide. Owner has a swim bait hook with a screw lock and weight that helps that but blows out the face. Can’t wait to try your new hook. Outstanding Job! Loved the new lake

    Impressive- can't wait to try it. I'm a kayak angler and these kinds of rigs where the weight is combined with the hook makes rigging and tackle storage much simpler when on the water- which is the name of the game when you're on a kayak. The fewer pieces of terminal needed- and the simpler it is to rig up- the better. Can't wait to add these to the arsenal. You guys make a wacky/Neko solution, and an underspin, and I can just about fish Core Tackle exclusively.

    I think I saw a really short 2-minute video that you and Johnny had made about this bait and I immediately jumped on it and ordered a handful of them and can't wait to get them in because I can see how much more efficient you can be with so much incorporated into one bait .. I'm really glad you made this video because I was going to wait until mine got here before I did a really big deep dive on this bait. But just that 2 minute video grabbed my imagination completely and I had to jump on a few as soon as I saw them!! CORE TACKLE is going to do big things there already doing things that no one else has thought about...

    @@MattStefanFishing I struggle bad when it’s cold. Last year I went 2 and a 1/2 months without catching a bass and probably went out 8 times. I’m going to try this method because you’re a pro and you say it works. Tight lines.

    Just got mine in the mail and performed well in the test tank. Can’t wait to take it out to the home lake and start pitching with it. Question - threading the lure on was pretty straight forward, but how do we take it off without damaging the lure?

  • @MattStefanFishing

    @MattStefanFishing

    you can stretch it back down the hook but easiest way is to cut the line and pull the bait up over the tag end of the line.

    Surprising how little force it takes to effectively drive that hook into the top of the mouth, even in a cold water bass. Mine should be here tomorrow.

    I’ll give it a try but i have a feeling I’m going to prefer a weighted shank EWG screw lock owner hook. This is going to split the nose of every bait because the line cuts through the plastic on the hook set.
