I really dont like planeswalkers-esque design mechanics. But, this seems more reasonable than planeswalkers in terms of power. I do hope higher rarity backups aren't op
frankly those are common, so thing could change when a rare or UR come out, but with those ability and difficulty I would put a foundation or asset over those two, there is literally no reason to put those in a deck. This seem like a really complicated new mechanic for a game saying they want to lower the mental load.

A very good point, we haven't seen the power Spike of Back Ups yet just like Assets they will need to be very impactful.to see play
Couldn’t you just side out all your backups .. also how many of these would actually be on someone’s deck you think?

I expect to see a few Back Ups for sure and in interesting ways too.
if attacking backups do trigger these style of effects. new players will be turned off from the game because they 'got got' in a way that offers "just don't do it next time" as the counter play. Which is feel bad's, but maybe new players are more resiliant and smarter than i give them credit
